The Eccles Center and Olympic Park in Utah was such a fascinating and enjoyable stop. I loved seeing all of the ski memorabilia and learning more about the Olympic history tied to the area. The fact that it's free and so easy to access made it even better and felt like a nice bonus while exploring. Being able to step outside and watch winter activities happening in real time added so much energy to the visit. It's one of those places that feels both educational and fun at the same time, which made it a really memorable experience. read more

I was there for a concert that I read about in a newspaper while on vacation. The seats and views were amazing. I am pretty sure there isn't a bad seat in the whole place. The sound was solid but on our visit there was a basketball game going on a well. During some of the show you could clearly hear the game(whistles PA and cheering). Not that it ruined my experience but it could impact some of the "vibe" of a show. I would definitely come back and would certainly recommend this place to others. read more

My first film at Sundance couldn't have been in a better theater then Eccles! Even with waiting in line for what seemed forever, I was totally digging the crowds vibe of excitement and anticipation. A massive tent was set up to house us ticket holders and they were smart enough to have a little snack bar. You could grab something before waiting in line. Just when I couldn't stand there any longer, finally we were let out and up the stairs into this grand theater. I don't know but I'm sure it was excitement of my first film, I don't remember the lobby looked like. Then I heard someone mention that this is a High School theater. WHaAT!?! It was way too clean, too elegant, too much in perfect condition, the sound, and the seats were so comfy. A few of the actors and director were there to say a little something. Then the film began, it was about this teenage girl and her family dealing with her being a lesbian in a African American community. It was very powerful and in my opinion deserving of all the awards it could get! If this was what Sundance was going to be then I would have been a happy man... sadly, from here on it was downhill. read more

Holy! Wow! What a night! This was my first Sundance Film & it was crazy! The Eccles Performing Arts Center is actually at the local High School and, I gotta tell you, this is nothing like how I remember my high school at all! These townie teens here got it made in the shade! Every year, for two weeks, they have all of the film industries most creative talents screening their art in this 1300 seat (GET OUT!!) theater! If that's the theater, I can't even imagine what the sports facilities are like! Unbelievable! Plenty of parking (if it's not a school day) and they even set up a heated waiting area for ticket holders. I had to slap myself a few times to snap out of how jealous I am of these local teens! Robert Redford roamed these hallways. Matthew Perry chain smoked by THESE lockers. Ohhh, if these walls could talk! Back when I was in high school, the most exciting person to ever set foot in our gymnasium was Summer Sanders & she was just there to tell us what not to do. Drugs. She didn't try to inspire us to DO anything. I'm gonna have to seriously practice keeping my cool. Once I sat down, my head was darting all over the place. I was SO excited that EVERYONE looked famous to me. I couldn't stop saying hi & trying to shake hands with everybody around me. It got weird in the bathroom. And HATS OFF to the Sundance Committee on there selection for opening night! A slow, methodically paced melodrama about a failed gay improviser/writer who leaves his boyfriend in NYC to move back home to live with his unaccepting, homophobic father & cancer ridden, terminally ill mother. . . . You NAILED IT! Now THAT'S ART! I'm jumping out of my skin, enthusiastically anticipating the next miserable scenario you guys are going to tackle! Talk about some folks who know their niche! Watching this film tonight @ this amazing venue was pretty eye opening. It makes you feel all smart inside. You really can't help but to want to put on some sunglasses, scrunch up your shoulders a little bit & have opinions about everything! Such a great facility! Just breath. You belong here. Just breath. We saw the majority of our films for Sundance at this theater, and of the three we experienced, this one was by far the best. Yes, it is a high school theater, but the seats were so comfy I could watch movies all day without my back aching - thats a miracle! I came here to catch some films for the Sundance Film Festival. I highly recommend picking your tickets for this location. Although getting there was a bit hectic with the recent snow fall. But that's to be expected for Utah snow. It's a very nice facility and they've a wonderful balcony overview in the theater I went into. I have a true love / hate relationship with Eccles, as the only time I ever patronize this theater is during the Sundance Film Festival. It's Sundance's largest venue, which makes it both a blessing and a nightmare. You have a better shot at getting tickets or making it in via the waitlist here, and most of the big premieres are screened at Eccles so you can see the famous folks when they arrive. The seats are fairly comfortable if a little cramped, but they are arranged in a half circle so even the ones on the side have decent views of the very large screen. The balcony is always a fun place to sit but be warned that it gets really hot up there and the seats are much shorter (not a good area to go if you are tall or have very long legs). The sound system is great too, making it a nice venue to see a film. The biggest negative is the lack of sufficient restroom stalls. This is a big place, couldn't the builders have designed it with a few extra toilets for the ladies? read more

For the area of Park City, this is a pretty nice performing arts center at the high school. Nice comfortable seats, great sound, excellcent bathroom layout (this is very important to cut down the wait time), parking lot clears out fast, and generally a clean designed building. I happen to watch 2010 Waren Miller's Wintervention Film, and loved it. I would definitly go back to the performing arts center for a show. read more

The Eccles is a great venue for civic festivities both large and small. Mrs. Larry and I donate to the Center and we always enjoy the wide variety of interesting programming that is available. For this sleepy little berg of Park City, we are fortunate to attract not only stars of stage and screen, but big thinkers of business and politics as well as the science disciplines plus philanthropic souls of every persuasion. Yay to Terri Orr and her team who work the magic here. I recall last year the opening show was a live cast with Edward Snowden piped magically into the melon of his SnoBot all the way from his apartment in Moscow, or as The Donald likes to refer to it: my little tee-tiny mobile TRUMP TOWER. Whether you are pro or con, he presented interesting points which induced much ponderage between the Larry family members AND it was the only ticketed event ever done by Edward Snowden here in the USA. This years opening was equally as interesting and the lineup is probably the best Larry has seen in years. One minor gripe focuses on the fact that there is no center aisle and the distance between the center seats and the aisle during a show is akin to a hike across the Gobi desert while irritating each and every bit of indigenous flora and fauna between you and salvation. A center aisle would be so nice. The Eccles is also part of the Sundance Festival and a great place to see film there. The free bus system is easy to use and just rocks. So please come for a Sundance film or one of the shows. They are all exceptional and I am grateful we have such a great venue for talent in Park City. read more
