This sudden resurgence of these premium, local eats have given me faith in Garden State eating again. With nearby Stage House, Publick House, practically all the houses, Echo holds its own. While Stage is my go-to bar hang, and Publick lends itself to a more intimate night, Echo is really the place for a brighter, livelier meal. Gluten line: very accommodating and we've not had a problem despite many visits! Long line: this is that kind of "go to" spot for food. You know that local neighborhood spot where you know the food is gonna be delicious but you won't have a minimum plate price of $20+. I love the fact that they have complimentary valet at night and inside the service has always been prompt, attentive and very nice. I have never had just an experience at any restaurant in my life. NEVER COME BACK was told to my family while we were leaving the restaurant by the manager. The story unfolds when i get my bill and I see that there is a cash vs a credit card price. That is absolutely legal in the state of NJ, however not disclosing the percentage that charge i. The menu also states the credit card fees will be charged and not percentage was disclosed. On Saturday January 4, 2025 my friends and I dined at Echo Tap and Grill for dinner. We were a party of 6 hoping to have a delicious meal and a good time. We arrived a little after 6:30 pm and were seated within minutes of arriving at table # 1. The dinner service truly did start out rather pleasantly. Veronica S. was our server and she took our drinks and appetizer order rather promptly. The appetizers were served within a reasonable amount of time. Veronica then took our dinner order down and we proceeded to enjoy the appetizers. Our dinner experience started to crumble the moment our entrees came out and we noticed that one of the entrees (the medusa burger) was missing altogether. Rather than owning and addressing the error (the burger order was placed), our server and all of the associating staff who helped deliver the food to the table (other servers and wait staff) abandoned us altogether. We innocently assumed that the burger would come out promptly so we lingered and delayed eating, but after about 6 minutes of just waiting... we realized that no one (not Veronica nor any of the other staff who helped deliver the food to the table) were returning to explain what happened to the burger. After an additional 7 or 8 minutes, Veronica approached the table and we had to bring it to her attention that the medusa burger continued to be MIA. We also brought it to her attention that a churrasco that had been ordered to be served at medium well was in fact medium rare and if she could please have the steak cooked for a little bit longer. Veronica took the steak and disappeared for another 7 to 8 minutes (so now we have two missing entrees...the medusa burger and the churrasco that was undercooked) only to return once more and say that the kitchen was backed up and that the steak and burger would be out soon. After some time, the steak was returned to the table but not much had changed in regards to the doneness of the meat which was disappointing. I think at this point we were just happy to get one of the entrees back to the table. After about another 30 minutes, I finally walked over to a staff member who appeared to be a manager to share our concern for our missing burger to which she responded "a well-done burger takes extra time to cook." At this point, I was livid...mind you I was patient, calm, and never disrespectful to the staff, Veronica, or the manager, I do believe my demeanor was visibly displeased and disgruntled (can you blame me) but I surely was not rude to them in any manner or made any kind of public display... but yes, I was livid because the dining experience had been ruined, no one acknowledged the mistake, no one took ownership, we continued to sit at our table abandoned, absolutely ignored, no water for the table, no removal of plates, and at this point Veronica and the manager both appeared to avoid our table altogether. When we finally received our missing burger, we had to ask for the manager to please come to the table to help remediate the dining experience and her snarky reply was "well the burger is at the table now." Seeing that we were visibly upset and caught off guard by her mocking response she did offer to remove the appetizers and burger from our bill and though I suppose this was a gesture to alleviate the dreadful experience...I can't help but be livid because this was an absolutely unwarranted, awful dining experience. I am leaving this review in hopes that the staff at Echo Tap and Grill take a moment to improve their table side manner...I recommend you acknowledge your guests, own your mistakes, validate your guests' experience and recognize that they matter...unfortunately, we will not be dining at Echo Tap and Grill again. read more

Decided to try Echo Tap for a birthday brunch with the ladies. Excellent choice! The restaurant had a good vibe, lively music and was bright with natural sunlight. We were seated in the main area, but you can also choose to sit outside or near the bar. Our server Sebastian was awesome! He went through the menu and specials with us and answered all of our questions. We started with drinks. Every drink we ordered was tasty and strong. And the pitcher of red sangria was perfect. Salsa and chips were also served. Then our food came and the presentation alone was beautiful. All of the entrees were delicious. Table full of meat eaters and we unanimously agreed that our steaks were cooked to perfection. Our desserts were rich and yummy. The fruit was fresh and the chocolate was divine! As soon as I walked into those doors I was in AWED of how aesthetically decorated this place was specially around the bar area. The ceiling decorations was the coolest ceiling I have ever seen in a restaurant. I was even more surprised of how friendly the staff was in general from the valet parking, to the hostess, bartender and waiters. As soon as i arrived they welcoming me with a smile, very attentive. The food, the drinks, desserts were all delicious. Everything we ordered we were satisfied. This place is really good for an afterwork dinner/ happy hour with your coworkers type of thing. There's a lot of space and they have free valet parking. The only think I would change from my experience here would be the valet parking. Pretty impressed with service. Sophia was very attentive and happy to attend to us. She shared several suggestions and we truly enjoyed it and it met our expectations. Our complimentary chips and salsa was good. I ordered the blue mojito and my friend ordered the raspberry mojito. Both were very good. Our dinner which we both ordered the same special was very executed perfectly as you can see on the picture I attached. Looked as good as it tasted. We ordered the grilled chicken topped with asparagus and melted mozzarella cheese., mash potato sitting on wine reduction which was out of this world delicious. If the restaurant wasn't full I would have licked the plate. All I needed was a pc of bread. The dessert menu was on table and we were too full to look at it. Went to get our car and since this evening was very cold our car remote didn't open our car. So the nice attended took and heated it up for us and we were on our way. I went there for brunch a few days ago with my wife and ordered the pulled pork eggs Benedict. When it first came out the eggs were scrambled which threw me off being that it was an egg Benedict. It does state that on the menu so that was my error. I asked that the eggs be swapped out for the poached eggs instead. My wife ordered the chicken and waffles which was completely tasteless. When they brought my eggs out I cut into it expecting it to be runny because that how poached eggs are supposed to be as you can see in the photo the yoke was completely hard. I went back to the supervisor to point it out who quickly became dismissive as if my claims were false. They didn't offer to remake it or nothing horrible service. Echo Tap: Pretty solid spot for dinner or drinks, but the location pretty much requires that you Uber if you are coming here for the bar. The restaurant doubles as a sports bar, in which during the NFL season you can often find a few local fans gathered to watch the games. Even so, the restaurant doesn't end up being too loud. The decor is an interesting mix of modern and eccentric, but it all comes together to feel pretty cozy. On the menu, a lot of items stand out as pretty different and BIG when compared to other restaurants in the area, and it's pretty expansive: ranging from calamari, to nachos, to burgers. The burger that I got was the BBQ Pork burger: Pork roll, bacon, and pulled pork piled onto a burger. Interestingly enough, the truffle fries that I got with it were so good that it stood out separately from the burger. I would definitely come back, but if you're trying to get to the restaurant for drinks, try to find a designated driver. It's off a main highway, and it's nearly impossible to walk there. read more

Was so good that I ordered two. My only complaint was that aside from the large cube ice there was also regular ice under.. For dinner, I ordered the gossip burger (creamy brie, fig preserves, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomatoes) and it was TO DIE FOR. The sweet and salty and the beef patty was cooked exactly as I ordered it, medium well. I've been here many times and enjoyed it but not tonight. My friend and I were seated in the restaurant which was barely 20% gull and yet we were ignored. Nobody came over to take our drink order or bring chips or greet us for over 20 minutes. As we left, I told the greeter at the door that we were ignored for 20 minutes and his only comment was OK. I called the restaurant and asked for the manager and wendy came on the phone and all she had to say was ok ok. I think the owners would want to know about this since the restaurant was barely 20% full and 2 workers there couldn't care less about ignored customers who will most likely never go back. And what's very ironic is that my friend and I ended up at the Union Plaza diner up the road where we had excellent service and good food and I was surprised to learn that the owners of Echo Tap used to own the diner. Solid four stars, all around good job. Echo opened several years ago in a part of Route 22 where I wouldn't expect to have this type of concept. Decor is sleek - and the huge oversized bar is what catches your eye as you walk in. The bar serves up a great selection of craft beers from both near and far breweries with some interesting selections - it's nice to find a place that doesn't just stick to the most popular beer from a particular brewery. Food options are definitely well thought out with a mix of bar food, pizzas, Mexican, and more. I've tried a few things on my various visits here - and my favorite thus far is the chicken tostatas. Probably 20 other people in the place. Awesome! Sat at a high top in the bar area. Asked the host the happy hour special and she didn't fully know it. That's cool everything is still new. I think it's their third week. Our waiter came over and told us what the happy hour specials were. Ordered the $5 sangria and the discounted classic brick oven pizza. From $10.95 it's $8.95. That's decent. Also ordered the nachos de los echo with chicken. We didn't order anything that was difficult to make or would take a long time so I definitely need to come back to try their entrees. Anyways the food was okay. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. The chips tasted a bit stale but the salsa was good. It had a kick of spiciness but was not enough to make me stop eating it. The pizza was decent, the tomato sauce needed more body to it. It tasted like tomato sauce out of a can or jar. Possible they need to marinate it or let it sit longer to get more deep flavors. The mozzarella cheese was good. Nice and stringy. The crust was my favorite. It was super light and air-y and has a nice crunch to it. Yum. The nachos were good too.
