We had an outstanding experience working with Sean Shlomo Noriani and the team at Milan Design & Build. We completely transformed our backyard, and the final result exceeded our expectations. I'm giving Milan Design + Build four stars for my recent bathroom remodel. There was a lot to like about the process, but a few technical design choices kept it from being a perfect five-star experience. The Pros: Permit Handling: They were fantastic at expediting the permit process with the city. Especially Sean and Abigail for calling the city almost daily. This saved me a massive headache and kept the project moving forward. Flexibility: Sean Shlomo Norianl was the project manager and Martin was the site manager. They were both friendly and open to talking over about the plan, especially when I point out potential issues. The whole work crew were also easy to work with and accommodating to my schedule and requests. Aesthetics: The overall finish and "look" of the bathroom is beautiful. The craftsmanship on the tiling and fixtures is visually high-end. The Cons: The "functional" design of the shower floor missed the mark for me: Extreme Grading: The slope toward the drain is quite aggressive. It feels noticeably "sunken in" when you stand in it, which is a bit jarring compared to the rest of the floor. Door Clearance: They opted not to install a raised ledge (curb) for the glass door. Because the door sits so low to the ground, it cannot swing outward if there is a bath mat placed outside. It's a small detail that has a big impact on how I use the space daily. Bottom Line: I would recommend them for their efficiency and professionalism, but I'd advise future clients to be very specific about the technical layout of everything and check the work to make sure you are happy with everything. If you are not, tell Sean right away. UPDATE: Sean reached out and offer to make the shower flooring right. We hired Milan Design Build for a full remodel of our 10'x10' kitchen and to replace flooring in approximately 800 square feet of our adjacent living room and hallway. Sean provided a quote of $35,000, which I agreed to quickly, expecting a high level of service and professionalism at that price point. One of the first disappointments was learning that flooring materials were not included. I paid separately for laminate flooring, though I wish I had been informed about more durable options like engineered hardwood, which were never discussed. From the first day of construction, it was clear our home and belongings were not being protected. During demolition and throughout the three-week project, furniture was left uncovered, moved outside, and exposed to concrete grinding and drywall sanding. Our couch had footprints, TVs were coated in dust, and our dining table was used to hold toolboxes. Much of our furniture was damaged during the process. Despite being told a portable restroom would be onsite, none was provided on the first day. That evening, we had to clean gray sludge from our bathroom sink. Although a port-a-potty was delivered the next day after we complained, our bathroom was again left dirty, including urine on the toilet and trash left behind. The crew consistently showed little regard for our home. Furniture and even a brand-new stovetop were left outside overnight. Multiple dining chairs were damaged, two living room tables were scratched, our refrigerator and oven were damaged, and our leather barstools were punctured. For a company charging premium prices, basic protections like plastic covering for furniture, drop cloths for outdoor areas, and daily cleanup should be standard. Instead, we regularly found screws in our driveway and debris left behind. At the end of the project, Sean initially offered $1,700 in compensation for damages. When I pointed out additional issues--including missing leftover flooring, poorly painted baseboards, and incomplete work--an additional $100 was added so I could pay someone else to repaint. A crew member was sent back to connect the exhaust fan and attempt to fix visible footprints in the flooring. What concerned me most was that Sean began requesting final payment several days before the work was actually completed. I was also disappointed to learn after installation that a cabinet shown in the pre-approved design was not actually available. This should have been disclosed upfront. After spending three Saturdays visiting countertop suppliers recommended by Sean, we were told the prefab selection was extremely limited and ultimately had to pay extra for countertops. Given the high starting price for such a small project, I expected basic items--flooring materials, standard countertops, cabinet hardware, a faucet, garbage disposal, and trim--to be included. Instead, we were asked to pay an additional $2,000 on top of the contract price. In the end, we paid a premium price for mediocre service, significant damage to our home and belongings, and thousands more in unexpected material costs. I wish there were more stars to give because 5 is not enough. From the very first cal I made the customer service and professionalism far exceeded my expectations. Our family is BEYOND impressed and very grateful to SEAN SHLOMO NORIANI "Sean". What can I say?? Professionalism, punctuality, CUSTOMER SERVICE, communication, and guaranteed work....a true value for the money. Sean worked on a home built in 1977 that had no maintenance, He remodled three bathrooms and the kitchen/den including tearing down a wall and putting in an island. During the entire project, which was done in a VERY TIMELY manner, Sean kept in constant communication which included (daily) photos of the work that was being performed. (There was never any "I wonder how the job is progressing") We were THRILLED that the ONLY person we dealt with was Sean...There was no having to apply for permits, no hiriing plumbers, no hiring electricians, no hiring window people, no coordinating a three-ring circus that comes with a job of this magnitude. Sean took care of ALL of it effortlessly and with a smile!! Sean has a meticulous eye for aesthetics. He noticed that three tiles in the shower did not exactly match (no fault of his own, as that is how they came in the boxes) and he bought more tile to replace those three. (No one else noticed it until he pointed it out). Sean did such an amazing job that we hired him to do an insanely big job of repairing a SEVERLY damaged balcony that was literally falling, a job that several other contractors either didn't want to get involved in, OR, they were interested in "touch up" work that would eventually lead to the balcony crumbling apart which would lead to having to repair AGAIN in the future (wasting time and money). I can HIGHLY recommend Sean and his company because I beleive he has integrity, professionalism and great taste. Sean would not undertake a job that he would not be able to complete to his high standards. He would rather lose out on the possible financial gains than take a job that would leave a customer dissatisfied or do a half-ass job....I can respect that! Wish there were more people like him around. We are fortunate to have come across his company. Sean became part of our family. Hello Everyone! My wife and I experienced our first water damage as homeowners in our kitchen after 7 years of living in our home. We were extremely stressed and overwhelmed after reporting this incident to our home insurance company, because it was our responsibility to select a water restoration and home remodel company. Our insurance company did provide several remodel companies in our area, but many were trying to cut corners on their scope of work to reduce the overall project cost for the insurance company. My wife and I did not feel comfortable that these companies were all working in our best interest. Do not use a remodel company from your home insurance network, because they will treat you like another number and ensure their repair margins are acceptable with the insurance company. We were in search of a reputable general contractor to help us achieve our restoration and remodel vision. My wife and I interviewed over 9 companies and we were so impressed with Sean from our initial meeting (i.e., free estimate). Anyone looking to remodel their home already knows how stressful it can become and Sean was able to instantly put his arms around us to ease our anxiety with the home repairs. He quickly identified water damage items that needed to be abated that others overlooked or tried to salvage. Sean recommended these repairs even if we decided to use another remodeling company. He wanted to ensure that we received quality work that would prevent us from additional deterioration repairs in the future. I requested re-evaluations from 2 remodeling companies and both apologized for not catching Sean's recommendations. This just continued to validate the positive energy and confidence that we had in Sean taking care of our home. Sean, Michelle, Shay, Ismael, Martin, Margarito, Heber, and the rest of the team became part of our family. Sean became our Project Manger to perform and oversee the renovation work. We are so very grateful that we made that decision! Sean was very patient, sympathetic to our situation, and truly listened to our needs. We owe him an enormous appreciation for working closely with us on the designs and cabinet installation process. I have a strong attention to detail due to being in the Marine Corps and Shay was able to achieve our cabinets and pantry measurements, functionality, layout, and many other requirements that we were seeking in our kitchen. Sean and his team worked with us to achieve our vision of restoring and updating our kitchen, obtaining more storage, and more light! Sean and Shay had excellent ideas that greatly contributed to the end design. I was very impressed with Sean's and Michelle's commitment to stay on schedule. They all made visible progress every day and provide us with pictures/videos. The final results could not be more beautiful and we could not be more pleased.
