Our condo is getting to the age where a lot of things start showing that age, including the tub/shower combination in our guest bathroom. The old one was the typical single piece acrylic variety that builders use. I used Yelp to start the process of gathering contractors to do the work and quickly had six bids with a variety of approaches. What I found out very quickly was that labor makes up for the largest portion the cost. Going with an acrylic or fiberglass replacement was negligible less expensive than using a cast-iron porcelain-enameled tub and ceramic tile. The six contractors were split about 50/50 on approaches. Guy Ezra, the owner of EZ Design stood out. He was able to accommodate our scheduling request so my wife could be there with me to meet him and have questions and concerns answered. He provided the estimate on the spot, was very flexible with the choice of materials, meaning we could buy it from his recommended vendor or from our preferred places. Ultimately, EZ Design & Build came in lower than the competition and accommodated our very short timeline. After receiving the final bid, we asked for telephone references. We called both previous clients and talked to them. Both references were outstanding, and they pointed to the pictures on EZ Design's website as their projects. We move forward with the project. Guy's team offered to pick up all materials from the suppliers at no extra charge, brought them to our place, and started the work. The team was respectful, cleaned up after themselves, and arrived every day on time. The project was delivered without delay, well below the limit that was set in the contract, and the work done was outstanding. Throughout the project Guy and Eddie stayed in touch to keep us informed and solicit feedback. EZ Design and Build's team are true craftsmen who take pride in their work. Our bathroom came out great. We initially contracted EZ Design to fully remodel our aging upstairs guest bathroom. We ended up having them also remodel our master bath, downstairs bath and kitchen. Our experience with the contractors on-site here at the house was incredible from start to finish, particularly Jorge and his brother. They were all friendly, personable and professional. Our experience with the project manager in charge of our remodel was not as good, however. The good news is that once we got in touch with the owner Guy he was willing to hear us out and we felt like he understood why we were so upset. When I initially sat down to write this review, it was set at a single star. We rarely feel the need to write a negative review, and the main reason we decided to change it was the following: 1. Jorge and his team did a TERRIFIC job on our kitchen and 3 bathrooms. They took our 1980s faded and old setup and upgraded it greatly! 2. The owner took responsibility for his project manager, and came here in person to listen to our grievances and empathized with us. 3. The price we paid was well-worth the hassle with the project manager and the 4 months of eating in our kitchen and showering at the gym. Jorge did an amazing job, and honestly should have been project manager from the start, rather than the other individual. So in the end, despite our initial problems with the project manager -- we still highly recommend Easy Design & Build. The main team behind the remodels is absolutely terrific, and the fact that the owner Guy is willing to go out of his way to assist if one of his employees steps out of line is exceptional. We have several other large interior design projects at the house we still need to complete in the future, and while we were going to look elsewhere after our unfortunate altercation with the project manager, we have decided to continue to use Easy Design & Build. Fun Fact: they offer a free consultation! - The biggest thing that stood out for me is EZ Design & Build's customer service - I expect top-notch in this industry and it did not disappoint. Their mission of having life-long relationships with their customers holds true. We had a few consults, and ultimately decided on this company because of their professional yet down-to-earth approach. EZ Design & Build is a remodeling and renovation company; while I look to have design done in the future, our first request was having help hanging up paintings and artwork of various sizes - including very large and heavy entryway ones. Some of these, I may have done myself but we did not have the time, tools, or brainpower to make it happen. Sometimes, paying for convenience and expertise is worth it and we were so glad we moved forward. Jesse visited us at our home for a consultation, and we instantly felt at ease. We were able to work out a deal that worked best for the amount of labor and tools that were needed. Within the next week, Avshalom, the gentleman that was assigned to hang up our paintings and artwork arrived. He had his ladder handy, tools, and everything needed to get the job done. The best part was that he was able to do this in less than a few hours. There were a few requests I made to move it (ever so slightly for example up an inch) and he worked with me to ensure I was happy with the location. Avshalom was great to work with, and made sure to check all the paintings with me and clean up everything before he left. I felt comfortable knowing they are sturdy and up by a professional. Far from hanging portraits, he also helped me decide for a few of them where they should be placed, from a design perspective, which was so helpful. Update 11/21/24: I was contacted by the other owner regarding my review. I thought it was to address the original issues and resolve the new issues found. However, it became clear they only wanted to pay me to update/remove my review. House re-pipe including water mitigation, plumbers and asbestos removal prior to this project. Full rebuild of small master bathroom and partial rebuild of a small guest bathroom. Requested the Project Lead (PL) to start immediately as I was leaving the country within a week. This would provide the company almost 3 weeks for the rebuild. Demo had already been completed.  Project took over 5 weeks until I ended the project due to all the continuous issues.  I will let the pictures/videos speak for themselves. * Bathrooms were not taped off during construction.  Thick layer of dust throughout the house along with tools and supplies left out. Air purifiers were needed. Every surfaced required cleaning due to dust (including inside closets, cabinets, stove, pantry and dressers). * Tile installed staggered instead of vertical. * Plumbing handles installed upside down and incorrectly.  They continued to blame the plumber that did the house repipe. I had to research and determine the issue which a required installation of a piece that was sold separately. * Vanity top was chipped and not centered on the vanity. * Old nails were not removed but painted over. * Nail holes were not filled but painted over. * Faceplates and vents were not removed prior to painting so they are stuck to the wall.  * Wrong fixtures installed and some were not replaced at all.   * Toilet was not secured. * Painting was inaccurate or incomplete. * Light fixture not centered over the mirror and vanity.  Two weeks of them telling me it was fixed before they quoted the contract regarding moving electrical. So I requested to center the mirror and vanity under the light which they said couldn't do but gave no explanation as to why.   * Baseboard missing or installed incorrectly (gap between the flooring) * Door did not close.  Door hinge was not installed all the way. * Big items were hauled away but the debris was left behind. * Left over materials were not removed. I agreed to the left-over baseboard only. * Paint cans were left with one lid not being secure and roller left in paint can. * Workers opened packages delivered without consent. * Request for over budget payment without supporting documentation. When discussing concerns that we were supposed to be notified of the progress and costs, the PL stated that he was not our financial advisor.  * Final walkthrough was conducted about week 4 weeks in. I provided a list of issues to be addressed. They would only fix 1 issue and I had to continue to follow up regarding the other issues.  * Owner was included in the texts that were taking place throughout the project yet only stepped in when I escalated through the company. * No accountability or apology regarding all the inconvenience including the extra money I had to put out to fix the problems they created. * The only reason I gave this company a 2 was due to the tile work completed.  The tile person did an incredible job. read more

The old jacuzzi bathtub was awful, my new walk-in shower with bench and Costco-sized shampoo niche is gorgeous, functional and greatly increased the value of my condo. Money well spent! Initially everything sounded great Guy is a salesman and it's presented on a silver platter. The shopping part was fun, planning and the blue prints, getting to see everything you picked in 3D and approving before it gets started but then he disappears. The sub contractors come in, he doesn't tell them where everything is supposed to go and mistakes are made, time delays which effect your life, not his business or his personal time and he makes excuses. Which could have been avoided if he would have communicated with these workers but half the time he didn't know or remembered what was going on. If I hadn't been there overseeing the job it probably would have taken a lot longer. Guy was argumentative and unprofessional with us at times when we tried to convey that these things could have been avoided with communication. Small things could have been taken care of ahead of time that cost us personal time with our family and he continued to make excuses. We had semi-custom cabinets and at one point he had the sub contractors son start to alter in my kitchen because he didn't mention like I said that we were going to have a drawer microwave so he told this inexperienced person to start cutting away on this expensive stuff and I could hear him saying that he wasn't comfortable doing it . And when I stepped out and spoke to the guy he said he had never done this before and didn't want to do it. And when I brought this up to Guy again the excuses and then he would bring in the person who actually did know what he was doing the supposed expert which took us back a week delay. And because he said was my doing because I didn't want just anybody cutting up my cabinets. Uhh would you?! If you were paying this much money, I don't think so.He brought up to us payment for his worker's which I considered unprofessional my payments were for the work done not to pay the employees. At the end he was trying to get out of taking care of the final inspection requirements stating that they didn't matter it passed inspection when the inspector had stated specifically to my son (adult) who was there and Guy who was not and should have been that this particular thing needed to be done. Because he had moved on to another job and didn't have time to show up for the inspection that he scheduled. But yet wanted his last check, his excuse was that the inspector didn't call him to let him know what time he would be there. But our son had stated the inspector in fact tried calling and he didn't answer. So if you want to oversee your own remodeling and manage your own construction this is the team for you. Just know your business. I was fortunate to have a plumber in the family or it would have cost me a lot more than money. The work itself though I must say came out decent. I did have to go back and have them touch up stuff. The sub contractors were hard workers and at times complained about their boss too. From what I understand he uses different contractors and doesn't seem to know a-lot about construction work himself. I will not be using him again and not be referring him to anyone. read more
