The negative we had was the project leader for the day of work seemed to have cut corners in several places. It started with not all of the work being done that was on the invoice. The office believed me and sent out a worker to check and they validated the work was not done that was in the invoice. When Mass Save came to inspect the work, they also found the light covers were not installed correctly. All and all, it required 4 visits to complete the work for a variety of reasons.

When the work was completed, our Building Inspector flagged the work for an insufficient amount of blown-in insulation. Months passed. When Rogers came back for the re-do, they didn't bring enough tubing to reach the attic opening, so they had to go back to Framingham to get more. This despite the fact that the company had already done work here previously, and should have known how much tubing was needed. In the end, the job was done correctly, per the Building Inspector, but the process required more of my time and attention than it should have, with appointments and phone calls. Also without the Building Inspection, we would not have know that insufficient insulation had been installed.

Shame on Google for allowing negative reviews to be deleted. The contractor license number he lists (#192899) is not registered to him or his company!! A quick search on the official Massachusetts contractor portal (https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) shows that this license belongs to a completely different company elsewhere in the state, not in Framingham. That alone should be a serious red flag. My wife and I paid nearly $15,000 for what was sold as a "Comprehensive Project Evaluation," which was supposed to include architectural plans, engineering, cost analysis, and fully rendered 3D designs. Instead, all we got was one useless Zoom call, no plans, no engineering, and an inflated proposal padded with double charges and outrageous labor rates (for example, $130 for just two hours to hang a mirror). What we ended up with was nothing of value for our money: shady paperwork, inflated fees, and dishonest practices. If you are considering doing business with this company, take this as your warning: don't let him fool you. Run.

I had 12 windows installed by American Building Technologies, and this was one of the worst…read morecontractor experiences I have had. The installation crew itself was excellent--hardworking, polite, and professional. My issues were with management, particularly Jose. We agreed on a specific brand and style of windows, including three large living-room windows. When the order arrived, I was told they could no longer do the three large windows, but the price was not reduced. I was told the remaining windows would be installed and the large ones reordered. When the windows came off the truck, I immediately noticed they were not the brand we had agreed to. I contacted Jose and found him dismissive and disrespectful. Because my old windows had already been removed, I was told these windows would be installed and the correct ones ordered later. An inspector was then sent as though the job was complete. Every installed window failed inspection because the required safety glass was not used. The proposed solution was to replace only three windows and apply safety film to others to meet code. I am now left with windows that were not what I agreed to purchase, that failed inspection, and an unresolved dispute over the correct windows and pricing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend American Building Technologies. I am also very disappointed that Mass Save refers homeowners to this company.

I tried them originally through their introductory furnace inspection. They came out and inspected…read morethe furnace, and said the furnace was fine but our thermostat was broken and they'd replace it for $300. I told them I would do it myself, and reinstalled the original thermostat, which worked fine. 2 months later (in December) the furnace stopped. I called them, they said they would try to get here that day. We waited all day with no response. They came the day after and said they needed to order a part, but could not tell us when it would arrive. Into the weekend, after 2 full days without heat, they said to get heat on the weekend would cost $1200, or $700 if we waited until Monday or Tuesday. We chucked them and called another company. That company said this was a common problem and should have been caught in the inspection. They could come on the weekend to do it for $1000, or do it on Monday for $500. I shouldn't have called back after the thermostat issue, but I sure won't call again, and recommend anyone else also look elsewhere

Both the work & service were terrific (we especially appreciated his helping us navigate the complex Mass Save reimbursement process). We invited Mass Save back recently (for windows), and the inspector said he'd never before recommended "no insulation upgrades" for an old house, but he did for ours since Rob's 15-year old upgrades were so impeccable! Moreover, the inspector actually asked to photograph the tricky basement area to use as exemplar of an ideal installation. Finally, this is just icing on the cake, but you couldn't find a nicer, smarter, more conscientious & honest guy to have around the house.
