They have pretty decent stuff but it's WAAAAY overpriced. I didn't buy anything there, but I would have if it had been price reasonably.

I'm not fond of this thrift store. Before 2011, this place had a weird smell, but the prices were pretty good so I shopped here frequently. I found nice name-brand skirts and dresses for $10 or under, which was reasonable. Since then, the odor is gone, but prices have gone up. A reviewer from Sept 2013 mentioned seeing a $35 brass lamp here. That lamp is still in the store for $35. I saw it today. It's overpriced. $20 for a used DVD box set from the early 2000s. Overpriced. $20 for a used twin-size blanket. Overpriced. The store is dimly lit and cramped. The aisles are narrow. The checkout process is slow. I can hardly understand the clerks when they make announcements on the speakers. This store just isn't my cup of tea. I've been to way better thrift stores. Unfortunately, I haven't found any decent ones in the DMV, but I'll keep looking. read more

I love this thrift store. I have been coming to this specific location for years, since I was wee teen. The store is humongous and great for clothing. Keep in mind this is a thrift store, so you can't be lazy. It's a store where you really need to dig and search. With that being said, this can be quite an adventure and take many many hours on end. I used to come here all the time with my best friend and we could spend the entire day just digging around. They often feature a few colors on sale for 50% which I think is generous! I returned after not coming here for over 2 years and no surprise I found an amazing vintage military style leather bag. I love it and only had to spend 7 bucks. Love love love this place. read more

This place is not really much of a thrift store. To me it's a retail store with a clearance section. They have a huge selection of stuff you don't really want. The word quality is not what you would describe this store. They have items that still have the original tag on them and the price isn't very different. They do have some items that are fairly priced, but they are clothes you wouldn't really wear. There's furniture, but their prices are more expensive than craigslist so I wouldn't even say to come here for that. They also have toys and electronics but not even worth looking at. Keep in mind this place has an overwhelmingly disgusting smell. I can say for sure I won't be back here again. BUT if you do still feel like stopping by here, I recommend going to Old Navy or Ross, because you'll find the same deals except you know you're getting new clothes that actually look good and it'll be a lot more organized read more

My coworker told me about this store, and we headed over during lunch one day to check it out. We were in search of tacky Christmas sweaters to wear to our office holiday party. This place was a gold mine! Not only were we able to find the perfect sweaters, but we also found some great deals on regular (non-tacky) items as well. I have been to this location several times. Pros: -Decent selection of clothing, home goods, back packs, and children's toys. Cons: -Highest prices I've seen for all area thrift shops. You could get new items at department stores, for the same price as here, or do even better on sale or clearance items. It would better, even somehow more enjoyable, to shop at Wal-Mart across the street. That should say enough. -This store has signs stating they accept donations, but I have been told by many people that it is "For Profit". So if you want to donate, make sure it is for a good cause. Better options would be Goodwill or Salvation Army. -Small store that is overly packed. -Outside of store is decrepit and parking lot is full of pot holes. I absolutely love this store. Like any retail store. You take the bad with the good. So what the employees can't speak English. They still provide good customer service. I have purchased many name brand fashions for men. This would include Doc Martin boots, Tommy Hilfiger Sweater, and many Chaps mens dress shirts. I even found levi jeans. Don't dare walk in with a back pack. They will announce over the intercom to take it to the front counter. I can understand this because there are no security tags. Some things are over priced, but there are still some steals. AS far as smells. It smells like retail. Once you see something you like. You better snatch it up. It will be gone on your next visit. This is one of the best thrift stores I have been to in this area. Its hard to find good thriftstores especially furniture in this area. We just moved from Dallas and its been hard finding unique yet inexpensive furniture. Got the coolest green plaid chair for $9.95 plus some snow boots for half that. This store is hit or miss for good deals. The prices are not a bargain unless they are the colors/deals of the day. The smell people refer to is a treatment that they use to make sure there aren't critters on things. It goes away as soon as you leave the store or when you clean the item. My first thrift shopping experience. Found some great items, wish I had more time to look around.

This place has been here for a long time and is across the street from Walmart. It used to be called Virginia Thrift Store but is now called Thrifty's. They have a decent selection of furniture, more so than other area thrift stores. There is a large selection of mostly clothing and shoes. There are also housewares like toasters, mixers, lamps, dishes, silverware, and so forth. There are also some electronics like VCRs, DVD players, stereo components, and so forth. The prices are inexpensive and comparable to Goodwill. You need to come by once a week or so, since the merchandise turns over on a regular basis. There are also outdoor items and sports gear, but these are limited compared to the other thrift stores on Richmond Highway. Outdoor items of good quality tend to move quickly. If you see something good, you need to snag it right away, since it won't be there if you come back next week. The place is clean and well maintained, and the staff is friendly. I have to say complete stupid management, I purchased item that was 9.29$ then went to counter for checkout, lady said it is 29.29$. Are you joking? People donate and they ripp off customers. I have to say some of prices are high, i google most of them before buying. A very disgusting business. For-profit, but accepts donations. They write the prices directly on the items with crayons, and bind DVD and Game cases shut with shipping tape, very destructive and careless. Staff varies from funny to incredibly rude and crass. Very unprofessional overall, I prefer Goodwill and UCM's Back Porch, both are Not-For-Profit and take better care of their stock. read more

This is my absolute favorite thrift store for a wide variety of reasons, in no particular order: after hours with Glen Hollis blasting from the speakers, the angst of watching your pals make off with a one of a kind finds, vogue prints, bags and purses galore, a bum or two, amazing furniture - I found a killer bamboo dresser years back for next to nothing that is still my favorite piece of furniture, stalking other customers who picked up something you wanted until they put it back and bolt in fright, checking to see if any of your items qualify for the half off color of the day and then getting super pumped when you have green on green day! , an amazing selection of leg warmers, vests, old man golf sweaters, worn in tees, slouchy beanies, funky suit jackets, scarves, tons of shoes, great jewelry, massive book shelf, and a menagerie of glass ashtrays and trinkets. I do like that they offer half off with different colored price tags, two colors on each visit. The color changes I think every two weeks or so. I hate the fact that they do not have a dressing rooms to try on clothes, while having a ridiculous in store one week credit return policy makes it difficult to find the right fit. Might be best to shop with biker leggings and a tight tank top to try clothes on in the isle? Embarrassing. Some of their items are ridiculously overpriced, while having some items ridiculously under priced. Does that balance it out? Most of the clothing is from the 80's and early 90's with a few vintage items scattered about. Another plus is the clothing is categorized into sizes and weather appropriateness. The manager is rude and unthoughtful, a couple times I have come across items that did not have a price and when asking how much the items are and even offering a over reasonable price she snatches the items as if I took the tag off and says it needs to be analyzed for a price in the back and then put on the floor tomorrow. I then asked if they can hold the items after being priced for me to pick up the next day. Response..."NO WAY, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE." In turn the items will just be thrown back into the mix and probably never found again. BLAH, no thank you! read more

Jam packed with STUFF! It's not very appealing when you drive up but be happy they don't spend a lot on decor and charge you for it. It is after all, a THRIFT store, not an upscale department store. Remember: unless you like crowds, try not to go on a weekend because the place is full of people. There will be lotsa kids turned loose in the toy department, playing with everything and riding the bikes (even tho the sign says DON'T). Fucking BED BUG infested furniture. It was a great deal but 2 days after a purchasing it I'm waking up to welts on my chest, arms and legs. Now mind you I just moved into my apartment 3 days prior to getting the bed so at this point none of my belongings are in the new apartment and they still have not arrived. I did not have an issue sleeping on a purchased air mattress for three days until I set this bed up and immediately started to have allergic reactions to the bites. I checked all of my sheets, teddy bears, bed, Childs pack n play and eventually the headboard where I found the first bug. Further search revealed two more bugs and at this point I was mortified. All I could do was think about what my infant child is being exposed to, this was turning out to be such a horror and all for a good deal!!!. I cannot discount the store for the issue....wait yes I can! They should do a thorough check before selling things like this as well as pest control maintenance in the building!! read more

This is a "for profit" store. They obviously have people working behind the scenes who prohibit anything of value from entering the floor. I can find better prices at the dollar store. Super expensive for a thrift store. Be careful when driving in the parking lot as the many potholes will cause damage to your vehicle. If you can, try to avoid bringing young children here because it takes TIME going through everything, the place is a bit stuffy and they don't allow food or drinks; everything that would cause anyone let alone a child to get cranky. I'm a pretty regular customer at this store...donating and then usually finding a few treasures to bring home. I've noticed in the past few months the store is a lot less organized and lacking the nice displays that used to divide the check out area from the rest of the store. A whole section of used books is gone and where you used to be able to sit and flip through a book, it's crammed with furniture you wouldn't want to sit on. I'm a repeat customer but only shop as a last resort. Very rarely will you find a treasure with a decent price. Electronics are extremely overpriced and many are in bad condition. They have a room with antique looking tvs and computers that you need to get an employee to unlock to let you browse. Who would steal a 15 year old tv or Pentium 1 laptop? I don't like being treated like a thief. Put up a camera or something, the locked room has got to go. Also I don't know who prices these items. Way overpriced. Some have the original retail price tag, but the thrift store has marked UP the price. For example I saw an ipod case that was marked down to $1 by some retail store - these guys jacked it up to almost $4. Makes no sense. They sell open boxed light bulbs - why? Not worth taking a chance. Finally there is usually only one register open with a long line of people that buy shopping carts full of used clothes. Nothing wrong with that but open more registers!
