Judy took my order and coordinated everything over the phone. After placing the order, I realized I needed to make a small change to the dimensions, and she handled it without any problems. Since I never received an email confirmation, I started wondering if the revised measurements had actually made it onto the work order. That's probably just me, I tend to overthink things. I called a few days later, and Jim let me know the glass was ready for pickup. With the chaos of moving into our new home, we couldn't make it over until a few days later. Before leaving, I called one last time, and Sean was kind enough to read the measurements back to me. It was a small gesture, but it gave me complete peace of mind before making the drive. When we arrived, Sean helped load the glass and even included a dozen clear silicone bumpers so the glass would sit properly on the table. Those little details made a great impression. The glass fit perfectly, the polished edges look fantastic, and it completely transformed the table while protecting it from everyday family life. To most people it's just a piece of glass. I want to start by saying I very rarely leave a low star review as I know how much it affects a business. My experience with economy glass has been extremely poor. Firstly, they missed their original install date and said it was going to be over a week until they could get me back on schedule. Once they installed, they mismeasured one of the openings, and I had to have my contractor modify the opening so the glass would fit. They then rescheduled the installation and never showed up, again with no communication, so I still am without glass. The worst part of this all is I have spoken directly with the owner, and he just says, "Sorry there is nothing I can do, call the office, and they will reschedule." He won't take any responsibility for this and acts like this is my problem, not his. I would not recommend this company after this major issue. Sean used to be a good guy to work with, but this experience has been mind-blowing bad! Worst experience of my life...  Installers came and when done they left without informing anyone leaving the front door open. Once they even jumped the fence without my concent.  I was excited to show the house with new windows  to two perspective tenants. However, I was shocked and very embarrassed to see glass pieces, screws, and other garbage all over the floor inside and outside the house and also the garbage thrown in and around the toilet. Windows were left dirty, very poor job of calking, sliding door lock did not work and one window screen was torn as well.  Due to significant mess in the house, I not only lost a perspective tenant, in spite being disable, I had to sweep significantly large floors. Thank God there was no carpet or tenant otherwise they would have had bleeding feets and a toddler could have possibly put glass in his mouth and I would have been held responsible for the injuries.  I shared all the pictures with the owner and he came to see the poor job and in response to the mess he said that he did not own a vacuum cleaner.  He gave me Small discount for losing significant amount in rent and delay in getting work done.  Within few months in winter the largest screen flew off the window and broke. This never happened before, obviously the screen was not secured properly. When I contacted the owner, the response was that I forfeited  the warranty in exchange for the little discount for all the extra work in fixing caulking, fixing screen and making the slider lock work as if I supposed to do that too.  In spite of asking multiple times, I did not receive any proof in writing for forfeiting the warranty. read more

These guys are good. First of all Jim has a great sense of humor over the phone and he made me laugh a couple of times. The estimate I received from him for a tempered glass tinted business window was about half the price that I received from other shops so I was a bit worried that the quality of work would be less than desirable but I was working with a budget. The glass came in as quickly as they said it would and surprisingly the price was about $20 lower than Jim quoted me. Would recommend these guys. read more

I had a bad experience a few years ago. I called Economy Glass for 1 year for my ordered 6-7 windows to be installed at my rental building. Looks like they had away bigger job and couldn't install. Windows were used for another job and had to be reordered. 1 window leaks after install and now I have fog in a window between the pane. I will call Monday and hope window will be replaced. I doubt it. Still has new tags on it. Those were not even taken off after install by installers. Needs Goo Gone. read more

I started with another glass company who sent their guy out to measure for my glass door. He decided to tell me how I "SHOULD" have had my tile placed, how my contractor could have done a different job on particular parts of my shower. His price was high and I felt he was rude. On the other hand, I went to Economy Glass located at 27365 Industrial Blvd. Unit A Hayward. Jim was very kind and handled my needs right away. David came a couple of times to make sure my measurements were correct. Jim called me when he was sure what I initially want was not going to work. He came up with another plan, showed me and asked if I was ok with the changes. Because of the large pieces of glass that I needed for the expansive opening, they had to come back twice to install. The installation guys were great, they were very respectful to my time, they showed up on time, explained everything I needed to know and left me with a product that works and responds as they said it would. When our recessed medicine cabinet arrived with a completely shattered mirror, I called around to a few places for a quote. Before doing that, I checked Yelp of course. Reviewers mentioned nicer cities had higher prices. We didn't need anything fancy, so how about Hayward? For a 15" x 30" mirror, this place was about 1/2 the price of a place in Dublin. Best of all, Jim said he could cut it in 5 minutes. I told him I had to check to make sure I could remove the old glass first. I called him back around 4PM and he wasn't there. However, he answered promptly the next morning. I figure it's a small shop and he was probably out working on a project. DH said he thought it was a "one man show". For $25, tax included, I couldn't complain. DH went to pick it up. It was ready as promised. He wrapped it in plastic wrap. Edges were sanded down. They take credit cards. DH says, "The guy was really helpful. He gave me a bunch of tips for attaching the mirror to the medicine cabinet." Overall, a good deal for a custom made product. Measurements were accurate and the finished product looked nice. read more

This place is a joke. The estimator came and measure the window, said will call me back in 2-days to confirm the phone estimate. Never call me back. I called three time and left three voice mail to Jim, the owner, no one bother to return my call. If my business is SO unimportant to you, why even bother to come and measure my broken window!?!? I needed to have a broken panel replaced in my shower. It has a notch cut cut so it wasn't just a rectangular piece. I had two larger companies that came out but wouldn't do the job for one reason or another. I passed Economy Glass while driving around town and stopped in to talk to them. Jim couldn't understand what I was needing so he had his installer come by when he finished the job he was on. Victor came by, looked at it, took measurements and said no problems. I saw great reviews for economy glass so contacted them over email for a quote (August 2017). Since I purchased very expensive nightstands I wanted glass custom cut for the tops to protect them. I included dimensions and the link to the furniture piece online that showed dimensions. After a couple days I received a phone call that said they needed more information. I called multiple times (no one ever answers the phone) and left multiple messages over a 2 week period. I even sent a follow up email. No one ever called back. I guess small jobs are not for them but it would be nice if they didn't waste peoples time and just said the job is too small. Now that I have gutted 2 bathrooms and had the shower glass guy install beautiful frameless glass surrounds I had him also cut the glass for the nightstands. Of course I didn't use Economy Glass for my bathrooms. So in the end Economy glass missed out on a total $5600 job because they wouldn't respond to the small project. read more
