We were heading to Callaway Gardens to pick up some Venice jewelry (I'll talk about that later), when I discovered that the Oyster House -- the seafood spot I was counting on -- was permanently closed according to Yelp. I was devastated. Like... fully prepared to cancel Pine Mountain altogether. I was having a whole moment. Then I did a little digging and found out that Eddie Mae's Kountry Kitchen & Oyster Bar had the same owner. I found this out before we arrived, and I knew immediately -- we HAD to stop there. And let me tell you... January 3, 2026 -- this is all I needed in my life. This is GOOD seafood. Like, really good seafood. Freshly cooked. Hot. Flavorful. Done right. The service? AMAZING. The people? Warm, genuine, country hospitality at its finest. The vibe? Real, welcoming, and comfortable -- no nonsense, just good food and good people. Food. Service. Atmosphere. People. Clean restaurant. Clean restrooms. Five stars across the board. I'll be honest -- I will never come to Pine Mountain again unless I know Eddie Mae's is open. I need y'all to hang in there with me because otherwise I can't even travel outside of Atlanta for real. The day after Thanksgiving, about twenty of us rolled into Eddie Mae's Seafood Kitchen in Pine Mountain, Georgia, still stuffed with turkey but ready for something fried, buttery, and Southern. Wrangling twenty hungry folks is no small feat, but our waitress handled us like a maestro conducting a seafood symphony. Not one single mess up. Not one forgotten order. Just pure joy, laughter, and the kind of energy that makes you swear her heart runs on sweet tea and Sunday kindness. She didn't just serve us, she took care of us. Her laughter kept us laughing, her smile kept us smiling, and her love for what she does poured out like sweet tea on a hot day. The world needs more people like her, because she reminded us that service can be more than just food, it can be a refreshing, soul filling experience. And the food? Absolutely amazing. Not only did we have seafood, but some of us went for the buffet, the kiddos got their grilled cheese, and the burgers were downright delicious. Plates of goodness that made us forget all about yesterday's turkey coma. To top it off, they had my favorite wine (hallelujah!) and beers for everyone else, which meant the whole table was happy. My husband, our friend & I stopped here on our way back to Columbus, after the boys completed a triathlon in Pine Mountain. In their words, this is just what the doctor ordered! We found Eddie Mae's by simply searching for local breakfast locations on our phones. There wasn't much around, so we figured we'd give this place a try. We were not disappointed! I failed to take a photo of the menu, so going off memory here... I think I ordered the Western Omelette with hash browns & a biscuit. The omelette was HUGE & the biscuit melted in your mouth. I look leftovers home & would definitely order again! The boys both had the Grand Slam I believe with meat, eggs, grits (added cheese) & pancakes - it also provided a large portion and abundant flavor! The staff was super friendly & hospitable. They work very hard! The restaurant is a little outdated, but it feels like authentic & well-loved. As you walk into Eddie Mae's you instantly feel the comfort of granny's house. The food was delicious, some of us had the breakfast bowl, the grand slam and the buffet, all of the food was warm and plentiful. The atmosphere was perfect for our small group of ladies. And now on for the best part! BETH, was an amazing server and had the best attitude. She was quick to make sure we had everything we needed along with quick wit and lots of laughter. I didn't get to try the breakfast sadly because there was an hour wait for it. So we opted for the buffet...It was so busy there was barely anything up there and wait for the food to be placed. The ambiance was small/hole in the wall I liked that. Nice people. There was no indication of the buffet price anywhere so I was shocked when it was 17$ a person. Use to cheaper in the area. I didn't get my moneys worth sadly. The fried chicken was amazing, I wish I could've had some more before everyone else took it all. My friend and I had the lunch buffet from here while touring around this area. There was a wide variety of appetizers, and this place even had a salad bar! For my plate, I had a side of salad, fried chicken, chicken gravy, and sweet potatoes. I felt like I was at some southern grandma's Thanksgiving dinner. This meal felt like a bit of a hug before hiking on Pine Mountain. The only reason I am giving it a 4/5 stars is because the chicken had too much salt. read more

After spending a couple days in the area I was looking forward to a good country breakfast and what a let down. Not sure where to begin so I'll go timewise. We got here about 9:30am. When we walked in a very sweet lady greeted us warmly and told us to sit anywhere; we passed the buffet (I didn't realize they're basically a buffet joint) and I looked over the buffet and it looked pretty bleak. Frankly it reminded me of my boot camp chow from almost 40 years ago, which is not exciting. I had the (of course scrambled) eggs, some patty sausage and some link sausage, grits and a biscuit. Eggs: no taste, like continental style you get at a horrible motel. Sausage patties and links: same, no flavor and hard. Biscuit: hard as a hockey puck and cold as a hockey puck. No flavor. Grits: how in the world can a "country style" joint - especially in the south - mess up Grits? No wonder northern folks don't like grits, because they come to a place like this and get these disgusting runny gray cream of wheat style grits. It's a disgrace for any restaurant in the south to serve biscuits and grits like this. Buffet was $11.95 per person.(Sorry bootcamp meal was better, and I'd rather have to PT and hump 22 miles with a full 72lb pack than pay for that meal again). On top of everything there was an employee restocking the buffet and coughing all over the food...seriously...her mask was under her chin and she was under the plastic deflection shield and coughing in the food! Many customers were just watching her in disbelief. I about hurled right there. Luckily I had already gotten my non-edible foodstuffs onto my plate before this happened but I'm sure it had even happened prior to me getting there. Seating is all booths thank goodness so I could wallow in my misery and depression with only my wife as a witness. What a let down. I would give zero stars if possible but the lady at the register is a sweetheart and deserves a star on her own. Will NEVER return and do NOT recommend. We woke up late and we're looking for a good breakfast place. I read the reviews on Yelp and a lot were really bad but we decided to try it anyway. It was actually very good. They had the breakfast buffet but my wife wanted pancakes so we ordered off the menu. A lot of others must have had the same idea and it took over 30 minutes to get our food. We grabbed a biscuit while waiting. It was tasty. I got the grand slam and everything was good except my pancakes. A little greasy and looked like buckwheat. The eggs were perfect, the bacon was crispy and the grits were smooth and creamy. My wife got the 3 pancakes but should have gotten 2. Hers were fluffy and light. We missed the buffet breakfast and were only looking for breakfast. They first said that breakfast was over and we were about to leave when the very kind lady who was our server said "let me see if I can sweet talk the cook into making your breakfast", which they did. We received really great service from this lady wish I remembered her name. The food I had, a western omelet, was so full of grease that I could only eat about a third before I was feel queasy. I will say that they serve you a huge omelet and lots of hashbrowns. Didn't bring home the greasy omelet but I did bring the potato hashbrowns and bacon left over. I'll go back but definitely I will be there before 11AM so I can try the buffet. read more

After trying all the breakfast places in Callaway Gardens we were ready to branch out. Eddie Mae's seems to be the only spot in Pine Mountain for breakfast, & it was definitely hopping at 9am on a Saturday! They have a buffet but we ordered off the menu. I enjoyed the country ham, medium eggs were cooked perfectly, heaping pile of hash browns, & a delicious biscuit. The Yelp website says they are open for dinner, but that is not true. On Monday, April 29, 2019, they were closed. We ate breakfast there the next morning, and we were able to confirm that their posted hours are 6 am to 2 pm Monday thru Saturday, and 6 am till 5 pm on Sunday. Food was adequate, nothing special. Pine Mountain is a cute little town very close to the popular Callaway Gardens, some 90 minutes south of Atlanta. It's mostly a main street, but there are some appealing shops and nurseries on either side, and a few interesting restaurants. Because we love old-fashioned diners and country cooking (or close to it), we tried and enjoyed Eddie Mae's on the north end of the main drag. The diner offers a lunch and dinner buffet with three meats and usually about six veggies. The meats include fried chicken with a crispy crust and moist meat underneath, baked spaghetti (okay) and a meatloaf (didn't try). The veggies were delightfully fresh and tasty, especially the mashed potatoes, lumpy with real potato and covered with a gravy to die for. We could have put that gravy on dessert! We also liked the blackeye peas and green beans. We'd have a bigger choice when the veggie season gets here. There's even a small salad bar. The cost? $8.50 per person including a drink. Seemed fair to us. We also tried the breakfast buffet, which was equally appealing, scrambled eggs done just right, marvelous grits (just a bit lumpy, not at all runny), and they had a small bowl of cheese available if you care to add some to your eggs or grits (no extra charge). Biscuits, bacon, sausage, hash browns and tomatoes were also offered. The buffet was $6.50. You can also order off the menu for any meal. The "Grand Slam" breakfast includes two pancakes, two eggs, two strips of bacon, two sausage links and either grits or hash browns PLUS a free trip to the hospital for calorie overload. The folks running the place couldn't have been nicer. We wouldn't suggest you go out of your way to get here, but if you're in the neighborhood, there's some good eating at Eddie Maes. read more
