I have known the owner of Eddie's 76 ( Najib) for over 20 years (I moved to Pacific in 1990 ). From 1990 up to date, I have brought all of my cars to Eddie's 76 for most issues because I know that Najib will isolate the cause of the problem and fix it as cost-effective ($$) as possible. I mention Najib's name in my review because he oversees what the other mechanics are doing-I've seen this time-and-time again. In my opinion, Najib is one of the smartest persons I know (notice that I didn't say "smartest mechanic") and is a college degreed engineer (I believe he said Electrical Engineer). He *really* understands the entire car system's (power-train, electrical, computer monitoring-modules, etc.). And usually isolates the cause on first shot. There are cases where an issue can be caused by one thing or another-you have to fix the most likely one first. As a consumer, I always purchase the "how-to-fix" manual that exists for all cars, you don't need to be a mechanic to understand the systems. When something goes wrong with one of my cars, I read the "trouble-shooting and fix-it" chapter regarding the symptoms I'm seeing, and get the *estimate* from the book on how much time it takes (assuming a capable person) to do a fix. Likewise, I get on the internet and get the *costs* of new, used, or after-market costs for the fix needed. It also helps to search auto forums for the symptoms that the car is showing. This helps tremendously, when I take my car to Najib, I'm usually in the ballpark of what the cause is (I learn a lot as well), and my bill reflects the "time-to-fix" labor, plus "part costs". I am puzzled when I read some of the negative reviews here. I read one negative review where the writer comments that after fixing one leak, some other component was also found to leak. It is possible that multiple leaks can exist at the same time-and it may be that the writer of that review only granted permission to fix the leak that brought the car in. When an estimate and grant to do work is signed, Najib (or his mechanics) cannot legally do additional work, unless the car owner gives explicit permission. My last comment is that I've always found Najib and his staff to be courteous, to both men and women, and I have no regrets on their service repairing my cars over the 20+ years I've gone to his shop. I'm incredibly impressed with the service and care given at Eddie's 76. Took my car in for an oil change and asked if they could look into my weird squeaking brakes. Najib looked at my brakes for free and discovered serious problems. The oil change was done more affordably than at a corporate spot like JiffyLube. Additionally, the team did not take advantage of the "captive audience" to up-sell me with un-needed services. I made an appointment for a week later to get my brakes fixed (hey I was broke!). His team took me in, got the job done in less than 24 hours and did not go over the quoted price. He even made sure my brakes were properly lubed in order to save my calipers. They were bone dry! As if this wasn't awesome enough, when I was about to leave, one of the team members flagged me down. He pointed out that a large red paint scuff I got a few months back on my door had been completely buffed out - for free! Eddie's is always super busy, especially on the weekends. Beyond my review, I think that's a testament to the quality of service. The team is friendly and well-versed in all things automotive. I've got a high-mileage vehicle (160k+) and need a reliable and honest mechanic to keep me on the road. Eddie's 76 is that place for me. read more

I've been coming here for all my auto service needs for years. I used to have a car that needed constant break repairs. I kept going to a place down the street from my house and paying them for never-ending break repairs until my husband got sick of it. He thought that they were just taking advantage of me because I was a woman with little kids. He took me to see Naj, the owner of Eddie's 76 and told him the problem. He was and has always been wonderful to me. He explained why the car had bad breaks and even took the time to drive with me to show me how I could make them last longer (we lived on a steep hill). Another time, my battery died at the other end of the shopping center from Eddie's. I had all 3 little kids with me and was stranded. Naj was busy, as always, but stopped what he was doing, put a new battery on a dolly, pushed it across the shopping center, and installed it on the spot. What an angel! He has always given me rides when I needed to get home and couldn't wait for my car. When I was ready to get a new car, Naj gave me solid advice about what to get. Now I don't get to see him so much. Recently relocated to the area and needed work done on two cars, including getting a non-resident sports car to pass a smog test. The car passed everything except the functional gas cap test... which was surprising since a new one had been installed just a year ago. We were told they would order a new one and run the test again the next day... Thursday. We had an appointment for Friday to get the car inspected and registered; so failing the test twice, incurring fees and waiting to test the car again was NOT an option. Expressing my concerns Thursday, I was told that they would test the cap to make sure it wasn't defective before installing and retesting. Comforting to hear, yes. Disappointing and concerning when the new cap failed right out of the box the day before inspection ... you bet. The owner said he would diagnosis the problem (apparently out of state Z3s have had this problem passing smog tests before). But this is why I actually signed up to write this post. The owner ordered two caps in order to have one in inventory. He tested the second cap, which was not defective, installed it on the car and we passed our smog test! Every family has their set of facilities in which they are "regulars" at. It could be the family doctor's office, or even the nearby grocery store. In mine and my family's case, we are "regulars" at Eddie's Union 76 gas station in Pacifica. My family and I have been going to this gas station and auto shop for about 15 years. Never once did I or my family feel as though we were being cheated or overcharged in any which way. The gas prices are always very reasonable, given that most 76 stations tend to break your bank. Just last week, I was coming into the station to get my break light fixed. Little did I know they had just closed the garage as I pulled up. Like always, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the owner, Najib, as he was asking me how he could help me. Long story short, although he had closed the garage for the night, he opened it up especially for me to fix my break light so I could be set for the weekend. A little kindness goes a long way and for Najib to do that meant a lot to me. He and his staff continuously leave me satisfied with my car diagnostics. Najib and Chris are fabulous! I needed a battery replaced on a Saturday and Najib, although quite busy, put in in quickly at a reasonable price. Then two weeks ago my Audi TT was not shifting properly and I was unable to drive the car. I stopped by and asked for an oil change and to check to see if there was something wrong with the transmission. Unfortunately it was not the transmission, but the clutch, and the fly wheel! (Of course my warranty did not cover these parts!) Najib, after checking the car, told me that the front brakes were gone too. As I just started a new job, I knew 1) I needed the car; and 2) I trusted Najib. Although the work was extensive Najib kept me updated as to the progress. Chris was also extremely helpful when I stopped by or called, which was refreshing. Thanks to Najib, he made it as painless as possible to get my car back on the road. I highly recommend this full-service center! The gas is lower; the service is prompt (whether it is an oil change, transmission or a clutch and brakes!); the prices are reasonable; and Najib and his crew are honest and truly care about each customer. read more

Eddie's 76 Station is the coolest gas station you will ever find. I have been a customer of Eddie and Najib's for twenty years and bought three cars from Najib. Not one car ever broke down because Najib patiently taught me how to take care of a car and alerts me to potential problems. Eddie was the manager of a huge garage in the Middle East for the US army. So he could fix anything fast. A friend of mine called Eddie a class act because he helped him out several times quickly and at a low cost and he still made it to where he was going. Najib is Eddie's son, an engineer, and has improved, streamlined and enlarged the garage. It is a small but super complete garage so repairs happen fast and It still has Eddie's chairs and table out front with magazines if you want to wait. And Najib can analyze and fix a car as quickly and intuitively as Eddie. The employees are super courteous and kind and will help you if Najib is out...I never thought I would write a gas station review but Eddie and Najib are more like white knights that save you and they love to help people out. read more

I brought in a 1972 Jaguar for a automatic steering assembly replacement. I brought my own parts. Eddie charged me $500 for this job. Then he said I am going to take this Jaguar to another shop to do wheel alignment. Then when he came back, my fan was all wobbling and all the belts are flapping loose, flapping all over the place. The metal fan was totally loose and will fly out of place at anytime. I mean when I gave this car to Eddie just 2 days ago, everything was fine. I only wanted the steering column replaced. I was scared that the metal fan would just fly off while I drive this car back home. So I asked how much would he charge me to tighten up the loose belts and tighten up the metal fan. He said he charges me another $500. So I paid a total of $1000. After I drove the car home, I finally realized that I got scammed. The metal fan and belt won't become loose overnight. He must have loosen them with a wrench. And he knew there is no way I can drive this car home with a loosen metal fan and loosen belt like that. read more

I have owned lots of cars and had lots of service, usually at GoodYear. In Pacifica, It's been Eddie's. For the last 3 years Naj made sure my old Chevy was safe to drive. Whenever I had an issue, he figured out how to give me the best possible service. One holiday he regularly called in to be sure all things were getting fixed. Other times he stayed late or arrived early. Always,the other fellows working for him were friendly and attentive. One time Naj said I needed new brakes, and should be shifting on the hills, not braking. So I got new brakes. A few days later, I rounded an off-ramp and to my horror, saw a big truck stopped almost in front of me. I slammed on the (new) brakes harder than was believable. I didn't hit the truck. Thank you Naj. I really can't say enough good things about Eddie's and Naj. (Najid Batshon) Friendly, pragmatic, prompt, reliable service, fair prices, and all together fun experience every time. Guys. I literally created an account to tell you about this place. I despise getting my car serviced. I have an admittedly weak mechanical understanding of them and am regularly expecting to be abused when I walk in. Like a fool, I waited until the last possible minute to try to get my car smog checked and after calling around to 10+ different places in the San Bruno area at the end of the day I had the good fortune of getting Najib (the manager of Eddie's) on the phone. He offered to stick around AFTER BUSINESS HOURS while I drove over there and then greeted me with a smile. I'm not sure I've ever been treated this well by a service employee, much less someone at a service center. Najib greeted me with a smile (again, 15 min after closing), helped me stumble through the renewal process, and even offered to install my new windshield wipers I'd purchased while waiting for the smog check. I have been coming to Eddie's 76 for 17 years. I would have wonderful conversations with Eddie while my car was being worked on. When Eddie's health began to decline, his son Najib took over the business. Eddie taught his son well. Najib is that rare find in a mechanic: he is completely trustworthy. You never have to worry that what he is telling you your car needs isn't true. Najib even insists on showing you the problem, whether it be a bad engine part or a worn tire, so you know for sure the work needs to be done. Najib's corner station is always bustling with people stopping to get gas, get a snack, dropping off cars for work or people simply stopping in to tell Najib hi. I bought a used card from Najib four years ago which he got into shape before he sold it. I love my car and hope it lasts at least another four years. When I eventually do need another new used car, I'm coming back to Najib because I know and trust the quality of his work. He is the best there is. read more

10 days after spending almost $4000 on a new transmission from a dealership in Southern California I found a puddle of transmission fluid under the car. Because we just moved here I didn't have a mechanic yet so I had to call around. Najib told me to come on over and they looked at it right away. They made the repair that same day for a very reasonable price. There were other things wrong but he assured me it could wait a couple days and he made me an appointment so that it would be done in time to pick up my son from school. Every time I went in I noticed they were busy, but gave equal attention to every person, acknowledging those who were waiting. I had questions that were answered completely without making me feel dumb. My repair actually required a lot of consultation and Najib was extremely patient and cordial, as were the other two mechanics I talked to - it is a very customer service oriented shop. read more

Eddie's is stellar. I've had work done on my car there twice. The first visit was a simple headlight replacement. Although the repair was simple, they clearly explained to me what needed to be done, quoted a price and told me what time it would be done. They exceeded expectations set by delivering the car on time for less than the amount quoted because it took them less effort than expected to replace the headlight. Their clear effective communication/expectation setting is the reason I took my car back when I had a complicated repair job including a timing and turbo problem. Once again, they set my expectations and exceeded them by continuous communication during a complicated diagnostic process and giving me price breaks. The car runs great. I'm a tough customer but I highly recommend Eddie's. read more

Eddie's is an awesome place to go! All the mechanics are very friendly and do what they can to help! They really care about their customers! I have had my Montero Sport for almost a year and it has given me nothing but problems! The owner, Najib, is usually the one to take care of my "problem child". He's always helped me out by giving me the best deal and doing his best to make sure my car keeps running! He's a very friendly guy! He even takes the time to explain to me what is wrong with my car and what it's going to take to fix it since I don't know much about cars. I've learned a lot about cars from Najib! I've been bringing my cars here for almost 15 years, for large, major jobs as well as lots of routine maintenance, and have always been treated right my Najib and his employees. His labor charges are always extremely fair, he's extremely pleasant and easy to deal with, and any time there's ever been a new and unforeseen wrinkle discovered about the repair (which has been rare), he's always called and explained everything thoroughly to get a go-ahead before proceeding. I'm puzzled by the couple of negative reviews that I see here; maybe these writers are cranks, or maybe they're old guys still thinking that fifty bucks is a lot of money to put into a car repair? This place is excellent! Really outstanding customer service and a genuine concern for my satisfaction! I needed to complete a smog check on my older car (Volvo 850 turbo) which runs great but could use a little more TLC than I can offer at the moment. To make a long story short Najib helped me a great deal even before performing the test to help ensure the car would pass appropriately. I am extremely grateful for his patience with my questions and his expertise that he shared. I know that almost any other place would have brushed off my concerns from the beginning. I can't thank Eddie's Valero Service Center enough! We arrived at 5:45 PM, just 15 minutes before closing, with a flat tire on our car. Despite the time, they welcomed us without hesitation and got straight to work. The staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and efficient. They quickly assessed the problem and repaired the tire in no time. I was honestly amazed by how fast and smoothly everything went -- I had my car back before they even closed! It's rare to find a place that cares this much about their customers. Excellent service, fast turnaround, and a team that goes above and beyond. I went to change the brake pads of my car in that place they charged me 500 bucks and they put a pad that must be of poor quality and different from the original one of the car because after a few days it made a noise every time I brake the car as if it were loose inside Of the wheel and when I backup in the car and put on the brake makes a crack I believe it is misplaced or is not adequate for my car two more friends had trouble in that same place I do not recommend because of the credibility of the staff and doubtful, and I do not want to go back to redo the service as a guarantee because I do not trust these people the least they should do was to return my money. read more
