Came here after an excursion and we were seated and served promptly. Lots of different food options to choose from, seafood, meat, veggies, kid friendly items, and extensive drink options. Seating is open air and right by the beach. The food was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. Super filling especially after a day of hiking.
I stopped by after a trip to El Yunque. I ordered a mojito and a mofongo with lobster. The mojito was mediocre. I'm still looking for the liquor because it wasn't in that drink. The mofongo was pretty good (4/5), but not something that I would come to this restaurant for ever again. And for $27, I had hoped for a 5/5. They offered several different sauces, but I don't think any of them would've elevated it to a 5/5. The ambiance was fine. It's a busy restaurant on the beach. The service was fine. I didn't have a bad experience. But there are better spots out there. Had I checked the Yelp reviews like I normally do, I would've probably gone elsewhere.
After a day of hiking, my dad and I wanted to have late lunch here, as we'd read they have solid food. There is plenty of seating inside the space, including a patio area that is still covered in fenced in. Restrooms available and clean. We were able to get seated immediately, and ordered waters and mojitos. They were AWESOME. My coconut one was super rich and heavy, yet delicious and my dad's fruity one went down too easy. We started with the corn fritters (sorullitos de maíz), served with a ketchup and mayo dip, which were yummy. My dad had the Edelweiss Burger, which was good but the fries were standout! I decided to try their mofongo, and noticed you could get multiple fillings and have it either a bi or trifongo, so I decided on a bifongo with plantain and yuca. I'd never had mofongo before and now I'm a believer. I've thought about it nearly every day since I've been here. I would have loved desert but we were so stuffed we had to call it quits, get a drink to go in a foam cup, and walk along the kiosks' beach. More sit down than some of the other kiosks, but this could be exactly what you need.
Great customer, decent food amazing drinks!! There is only one stall per (men and woman) so there is a bit of a wait on the bathroom. Clean restaurant. We had the passion fruit margarita and Mango kiwi Mojito. Both were great. Michael was very kind and confident in his suggestions. We had the Edelweiss medium sampler. Very filling and enough to share with 2-3 people. The mozzarella sticks were good, The guava sauce was good, the wings were good. Definitely a great spot for drinks.
After hiking, the tour guide suggested this place and you can see it was a busy area. The waiter came and took our orders. I wanted to try their tostones mixed with breadfruit he asked someone in the back kitchen and informed me it wasn't available. So I was able to try the spicy crab stuffed in plantains, although it said spicy it wasn't spicy to me. All the food came out fresh. It is covered but you do feel like you're outdoors due to you can hear the people along the back.
Fun fact, my Nana is Puerto Rican so I grew up eating and being surrounded by Puerto Rican culture....all of this reminded me of her house and brought me back to being raised in the culture. Mini alcapurias (I'll be honest, before this trip, I was NOT fan..but I'm a convert. Though, apparently this spot isn't the best for it Mofongo...in true Ms.BigBack fashion, I got the bifongo (sweet plantain & green plantain)...homie got the trifongo (sweet + green plantain + cassava) - not gonna hold you, I wouldn't have minded getting this. I'm just not a cassava fan. Rice and beans and pork chop...bruhhhhh..this REALLY took me back to my Nana on 41st street! Shoutout to our waiter and the rest of the staff. Super hospitable & were nice enough to guide us through the menu Definitely recommend!
We visited Puerto Rico for Christmas and stopped by this restaurant. It's clean with decor that's a step up compared to most places we've seen in PR. The bathrooms are modern and well-maintained, which was a nice touch. After finishing our rainforest trip, we weren't in the mood for deep-fried seafood. I ordered the octopus salad with mofongo, while my child opted for a bowl of bean soup. The soup was delightful--flavorful and packed with beans and root vegetables. The octopus salad was fresh and dressed with olive oil, but it lacked seasoning, and the lime flavor was weak. The mofongo was flavorful but a bit tough and chewy in texture. Overall, the meal was decent, but nothing extraordinary.
Service is a little slower. Which is ok because it was super packed in there. Some of the best rice, beans and plantains I've had. I love the view of the beach and the drinks were so tasty! Casual atmosphere as it's right on the beach.
One of the more popular kiosks in Luquillo is Edelweiss bar. We stopped here for a nice lunch and enjoyed the meal. Prices were a little higher than we expected but the food was good. Not sure I would come back but enjoyed the rice and sauce on the salmon. I didn't experience the poor service others have mentioned and the restaurant was mildly busy so it had a more lively atmosphere
My parents live in Luquillo and I've been visiting since I was a little girl, so I've been to the kiosks many many times, including Edelweiss. However on this last visit, we had a large party and requested outdoor seating. When we there, they had given us an indoor room and had everything set up really nicely in there. But, when we mentioned the mix up, they were SO NICE and accommodating, very quickly moving us to a big table on the patio despite some of us saying we totally didn't have to move. To make things 2x even better, that changed our waiter to a guy I've known for years from his work at Panderri (he moved to Edelweiss recently), and he was even better than normal. He (Michael) is a wonderful person and employee - don't lose him! Lastly, sometimes it is rare to find service to gringos that makes you feel just as welcome and warm as the locals are treated (not that my parents aren't considered locals, but no one knows that looking at them ). From hosting to managers to serving staff, it's just not very common unfortunately unless you're in a super touristy area like SJ. Edelweiss was the opposite - so friendly and warm to us the entire time, treating everyone the same and with the same respect and kindness. We are a pretty La Parilla-loyal family, but we are sooo excited to have learned Edelweiss is every bit as good - even better in most aspects - and this is definitely going to be our new regular place! There are so many restaurants that have extremely similar or even identical menus, but Edelweiss elevated every option we got. We spent most of the meal saying "wow, this is twice as good as it is at _____!" Was it revamped or redone/new ownership in the last few years? I just don't remember it being so amazing many years ago. Anyway - 10/10 food, service, and aesthetics/ambiance! We'll be back again and again (pic of my parents Bill & Teri here so you know who they are!).
Their skirt steak mofongo and chicken stuffed avocado were good. Service is really slow and our food took a long time to come out. We came back a couple days later but left after waiting over 20 minutes for our waiter to come and take our order. I saw her write down an order for a table that came after us, she looked at my parties table then walked away and never came back. When I left the restaurant she was busy watching another employee weigh lobsters. They only have 1 bathroom stall for women and 1 for men so expect to wait a while to use the restroom.
It is for sure a tourist trap so the prices are a little high but what else can you expect from the area? We were seated right away and our waitress was very attentive. We were trying to kill some time so we also hung out at our table for about 40 minutes after we were finished eating and they didn't seem to mind. We got the cod croquettes to start which were super yummy. For mains, I had the stuffed avo with crab and sweet plantains on the side. Both were delicious- the crab was well seasoned. I originally asked for the spicy crab and our server let me know that was imitation crab so I got the regular instead. I appreciated that she let me know! My partner had the chicken cutlet and fries which he thought was just okay. The fries were good! He also had a passion fruit mojito which he enjoyed. We sat outside which was breezy and had plenty of fans running. It can get a little noisy because the cars driving by will honk nonstop. But there is also indoor seating with air conditioning if it is too loud for you. They do really need to get some fly fans for the outside tables because there are tons of flies everywhere. Overall, I would dine at Edelweiss again! Def be sure to check in for the 10% off offer!
Somewhere in Luquillo I found this spot and it just clicked with the whole mood of the trip. Great atmosphere, great location, and the kind of easy, unhurried vibe that makes you remember why you came to the island in the first place. The service was the standout. Warm, welcoming, no rush, totally in tune with the laid-back island lifestyle. The food was good too, but honestly it was the overall feel of the place that won me over. Everyone here operates at that relaxed Caribbean pace where nothing is a big deal and you actually let yourself unwind. If you're passing through Luquillo and want to slow down, grab a drink, and enjoy some good vibes, post up here for a while. Very chill, very easy to love. read more

Food was good. Service was also good. The location is amazing right on the beach. Saw a guy walk by with a parrot while we ate. If you go to the rainforest, great option to stop by for dinner or lunch after. read more

The place came recommended by our tour guide, however, the service was awful. We got seated soon enough, but we sat there for a very long time until I waved down a few people and finally got an annoyed waitress. She just seems so bothered by having to do her job. The food was good and it was cool to try the stuffed avocado. However, the lobster was not very tasty and after a while, you can't even finish the giant avocado. The food took about an hour to even come out. They didn't seem that busy to be so frazzled. I wish we had a better experience, but it was a Monday and the pinchos place was closed. Now that place is way better. We won't be back here. read more

True tourist trap, esp with the aesthetics and drink specials. I liked the lobster tank too. We were seated right away, but it took a while for a server to come around. We had to flag someone down & he was truly apologetic, so that made up for it. We already got drinks a few doors down & we wanted to make room for other items from different shops, so we got the cod croquettes, crab arepas and a hamburger and fries for the kiddo. Everything was delicious, so that made up for the wait. Also, the server that helped us was super nice. Overall, good experience. read more
After a wonderful hike to two different waterfalls and viewing the city of Luquillo from a stone watch tower in El Yunque National Park we were famished. We stopped in the "Liquillo kiosks" like a strip mall near the highway to get some lunch. Half of the stores were bars or restaurants which you a lot to choose from but many weren't open yet. This bar and grill was and were ready to assist us. The restaurant has a bar with seats and several indoor / outdoor tables that can accommodate many people. The staff were bilingual it prefer to speak in Spanish however they were friendly and helpful. We didn't order any appetizers unless you call "Mojitos" as appetizers. You know it has mint leaves and lime so...lol. Meals: 3.5 -4.5 stars Our lunch consisted of: 1. Filets de Mejo - GROUPER FILLET SAUTÉED OR BREADED - 4.5 stars. Our local guide got the breaded version and he said it was large, thick, succulent, and flavorful. Not too fishy. The breaded filling has more of a "panko" texture which made the coat light and crunchy. The two sides were beans and rice 2. Pollo Aguacate Relleno (stuffed avocado w chicken) served w creama de ajo (garlic cream sauce) and arepas- 3.5 stars. Large avocado and chicken breast was diced and mixed w the garlic sauce however the sauce overwhelmed the flavor avocado and chicken. The arepas were fried and thick. Tasted plain however it was a good "scooper" for the mixed chicken and avocado. 3. Pollo Mofongo (chicken) w Criolla (Creole) sauce - 3.5 Stars. The pollo mofongo was a healthy portion and the Criolla sauce had the light version of the creole flavoring. It didn't overpower the mofongo (fried mashed green bananas w bacon and garlic). I shared the dish because was too much to eat. You will need a long siesta after this meal. I would prefer the dish to be more flavorful with the seasoning but it was still good. All three of us agreed the Breaded Grouper was the star of the show. It was LARGE, flakey, and moist. Will definitely come back for their mojitos and fish. Enjoyed the view, drinks and Caribbean style food. Don't let the German name fool you. It serves wonderful food but will be hard to find a Pretzel or 2 liter Cerveza!LOL at this place. read more

Located at the Luquillo kiosks strip. We walked to many other restaurants, but this one looked too good not to eat here. The service was very good, waiter was helpful. The food was very good and good size for the price. It did take a long time to get our food but it was very good. The drinks were also delicious. Would definitely come back. read more
Yes it's a tourist trap which is reflected in the price but it is popular with high food turnover - which means food not too old and questionable. Bonus , there is an AC room. We enjoyed our meals and drinks, service was friendly; food was bit slow coming out. - hello island time. read more

Finally was able to try an arepa for the first time and I was highly satisfied! I wish I ate more now on my trip :(. This restaurant pretty busy when we came so that should tell you off jump that it's going to be good. It was a slight wait so definitely have patience when you come. read more

Edelweiss was the last stop for us after a rainforest tour. It's located in a long strip of other restaurants, bars and tourist shops. It is open air and the back opens to the ocean but the view was blocked by some fencing which was a bummer. I tried mofongo which was very flavorful and unique. It went well with a couple of beers . We were all satisfied with our meals and service! read more

After a strenuous day at El Yunque we came here for a lunch to recharge before hitting the beach at Luquillo. Drinks - we ordered a Tamarindo Mojito and a Strawberry Daiquiri. They were both okay. Starters - we shared platanos stuffed with spicy crab. One word - amazing! Platano is so filling that made it tough to save room for our entrees but we sure did! Entrees - Arroz con maricos with a side of mofongo and langosta con frijoles. The have multiple side options to include rice, mofongo, frijoles,etc I was going to get a side of coco arroz but our server looked at us like I was crazy. Who gets rice with a side of rice? Haha I LOVE rice but decided to get the side of mofongo lol read more
A tourist trap with subpar food! Food: we wanted to try arroz con gondules (surprisingly hard to find despite being the National food). This place offered it, so we decided to give it a try! We ordered the avocado stuffed with vegetables and literally everything was just steamed veggies. The arroz con gondules were also not worth it! Definitely lacking in the taste profile Price: ~25 for a meal. Portion size is large Ambience: one of the nicer looking spots in the stands in Luquillo with ample seating! My wife, two sons (16 yrs, 14 yrs), and I stopped by Edelweiss (Kiosk #38) on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00pm after a morning hike in El Yunque Rain Forest. We read about the Luquillo kiosks in a travel book, so I decided to try it. It's on the ocean side of Route 3 (westbound), so if you're coming from San Juan, you can do a U-turn by exiting at the brown sign (Balneario / Kiosks), and then make a left turn (under the overpass), and then another left. Parking can be very difficult to find during peak hours even on a Tuesday. Edelweiss grill is a little old and dilapidated, but we were encouraged to see a few families (locals and tourists). On the plus side, we loved the sampler appetizer which provided a broad range of traditional fried foods (alcapurria, cheese, etc.). These items are similar to what you can get at Pinones, but the sampler is a nice introduction to 6 different appetizers all at once. On the minus side, it took a long time (20 min) for the entrees to arrive. I ordered the Caribbean chicken stew, which was OK, but nothing special. The broth was full of garlic, but it was too oily and salty. The other entrees (rice and seafood) were just meh. Not sure if I would return to this kiosk again due to the difficult parking, high lunch prices, and "meh" quality of entrees. But if you do come here, the sampler appetizer is great for families! read more

Ordered the two mojito special, grouper nuggets, a grouper filet with a sweet plaintains, Caribbean seafood stew with fried arepa to dip into the soup, a lobster stuffed avocado with added spicy crab (same price as the mariscos $32.95) and upgrade to a large house salad with balsamic dressing and octopus salad with a side of coconut rice. The app took a bit to come out, about 10-15 minutes. The dinners are also taking a while as well. The grouper nuggets are crunchy and crispy on the outside and the grouper is nice and flaky too. It's good with the dipping sauce too. The avocado is huge, it's okay, has an odd taste at times. The spicy crab is krab and not make with real crab meat at all. Hmm. The lobster is about 4-5 pieces total. Not sure if this was worth $33. The veggies are soggy and bad. The side of veggies are mushy, likely frozen? The side salad is garbage, rotten greens in it. Tons of romaine veins and it tastes quite bitter to me. My balsamic was given to me in a bottle at the table. The seafood stew was yummy for my FIL and the arepas. The grouper filet was poached, soft and tender. The sweet guy plaintains are good at least. The octopus salad was good as well. read more
Driving home from the Ferry, we stopped here for dinner. What a mistake. Two words. Sodium chloride. It seems a seafood place, and my fiancee and I both went with broiled fish, in two different sauces. After an incredible wait, we got them... and couldn't tell them apart. She got grouper, I got Mahi. Both were so salty that, despite being starved, neither of us finished. The sides were mediocre, not bad. The conch appetizer was okay -- like the fish, it was also heavily mixed with bell peppers, which override most other tastes (flavour assassins!), except unfortunately pure salt. Also, NGL, service was remarkably bad, and slow. Waiter asked how food was, got an honest answer, shrugged and walked away. It's a shame, we liked the app well enough, and the drinks are good .... but the main just failed. I need a bottle of water. read more
Located at Luquillo beach strip. Stumbled upon this place after a nice sun soak day at the beach. This place was definitely Poppin. A lot of people were there and other people were telling us service was amazing there. We got there right away and we're seated closer to the back facing the waters. There were five of us for a late lunch. They instantly brought us waters and menus right away, gave us a little time to order. We didn't order anything to massive. Most of it was appetizer shared items. I got the Mamposteao Rice and cassava fries, have you got super of the day which was a minced pork and lentil soup. Our daughter got crab stuff in an avocado with fried plantain on the side. And her boyfriend got a lobster tail with sweet fried plantains, and a little salad. And the fifth person with us got a salad. Everything was fairly priced and great portions and everything was delicious. I was recommended this restaurant after our El Yunque tour by our tourist. The spicy crab appetizer was alright, used imitation crab which was very disappointing. The mobongo was disgusting. It was so dry and bland and the creole sauce could not save it. The lobster was also not great and I couldn't taste it that well with the dryness of the mobongo. The can can was super dry as well and every bite was difficult to swallow. Would not recommend if you don't enjoy dry food. I thought the vibe was nice since it's right next to the beach, but save yourself the money and trip and go somewhere else. read more
