I called for clarification on the application process- she texted for me to call her in 30 minutes. I too am at work so I set my timer for 30 minutes so I wouldn't forget and called her back where she promptly picked up and hung up. I left a text for her to call when she had extra time. She called back 15 minutes later with her mouth full of food- masticating while asking which property- ( and not in a friendly way)- I told her Mā'ili and she said, "Oh, that's Sean's" I said " Oh, ok, please give me his number- She said for me to just talk with her, which I was confused due to her saying it was Sean's. When I asked my question- she responded in a flippant, rude way. I decided to end the call so as not to match her energy and texted that I thought it was a very unprofessional exchange- her response was "sorry you feel that way". Hoping this is just an off day for Belinda Barnes and that she will be able to find her missing Aloha soon.

The HOA goes up annually by 100 dollars. Currently in 2023 we pay 1100 dollars per month and we…read morejust got a notice that it's going up again. In addition, they charged each tenant 8,000 dollars to trim trees we didn't want trimmed, 3,000 dollars to uproot trees we didn't want uprooted, 3,000 for exterior building repairs to community stairs, and I'm sure they will think of more ways to screw tenants out of their savings. Why overcharge tenants for basic upkeep when the board is collecting over 1,000 dollars per month from over 4,000 tenants?! Where is the money going? I recommend the HOA be investigated in how they are charging and using funds. The way this place is being run is going to make it hard to stay long term and harder to sell if we decide to leave. They don't care about the culture, the island, or their tenants. They just care about money. I have been living in apartment complexes for over 14 years and this has been by far the most painful experience. So much so, that coming home was not a relaxing and comfortable experience. Power trips and petty politics are an issue in this HOA and I urge you to talk to some of the current owners/tenants if possible. There are a lot of issues within the community and I'll update over time. Do not expect to have visitors over to your apartment that you pay an exceptional amount of money for every month. Nosy neighbors patrol up and down the street waiting to hear any noise coming from your apartment. This community allows one complaint to equal an occupant receiving a noise violation. Three of those and you get fined. To illustrate, my neighbor said he caught one of the owners who lived two buildings away inching up closer to his apartment to see if he could hear any noise. He knew he was being targeted because he had friends over. Speaking of which, if you have an issue with a neighbor, the HOA requires that you contact 'security' to handle the issue, large or small. This allows for anonymous complaints without any possibility of facing your accuser, especially for false allegations. No due process, especially if you're a tenant. If you have a motorcycle, forget about living here, even if it is a legal motorcycle. This community is exceptionally unfriendly to people exercising their freedom of choice and you will consistently receive harassing complaints and letters from unnamed, improperly addressed persons. Passive-aggressive behavior. Military members, avoid this community. I received racist and discriminatory comments during my time here. It isn't worth it. I deal with juvenile issues from young service members daily as part of my job. It is exceptionally frustrating to come home to deal with those same tendencies from supposedly more mature adults. In closing, this community caters to the lowest common denominator, the entitled squeaky wheel that isn't happy unless everything is the way they want it. Welcome to the People's Republic of Puu Alii. Avoid this place like the plague.

The sales person I worked with is Dorian . Yes he was very nice and a good sales person ( in the beginning) .. knows his stuff and came by personally to check out my window layout . I put in my order just before New Years . I was notified in April that it might come in .. in May . Did not hear any updated news so I contacted the office . Did not come in till June and finally installed in July. I was pleased with the installation crew but they were missing two screens and the order was not 100% correct so I brought it to Dorian attention. ( the window openings) Two weeks went by .. then three weeks then four weeks and still no word about the missing screens . Finally I contacted the office and they said it came in and finally installed late August . But no one called me to update me on the screens . And although Dorian said he will check on the order where we had miscommunication on the window configuration ... He never got back to me . Typical sales ... he got the sale and the money and then they ghost you . I'm not sure if I could recommend them . Diamond Head gave better service and follow up although they were priced a little higher but I was trying to save some money since we're seniors with a fix income . (For the record.. I did the first half of the house with Diamond Head windows .)

Although there had been some issues with the unit upon move in, these were rectified promptly and professionally. In that regard, I have to say that Janice was great throughout. We didn't have many issues, but when we did, she was always helpful and things were taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Even during the pandemic, when our dishwasher went out and the washing machine stopped working, these issues were taken care of within a week. Of course, the move out is the true test. Although I disagree with the move out procedure (there isn't one; you give them the keys, they let you know, which is different than other companies we've had that walked around the unit with us), the move out was smooth and we got our full deposit back with no issue. They even worked with us regarding several concerns that came up prior to move out. Again, professional. Overall, it was a positive experience and we would consider renting from them again. Future tenets, make sure to take the move in inventory seriously and give yourself enough time to move out; use the checklist provided and reach out if you have questions.

There is no way I would ever rent from them either after the stories we have heard from their owners and tenants (as recently as today!). There is one person who is ultimately responsible but I won't name him because he apparently has very thin skin. I'm writing this review because I heard through Coconut Wireless that some other company is taking over managing Stott's properties. Whoever they are they should try to do better, and to that end I want to add my voice so they can't blame all of the complaints on the tenants. The reason it's so hard to get anyone out to fix anything is because no one wants to work for them. It's consistent work and good money until you realize everything takes three times longer than it should because no one over there knows what anyone else is doing. They went through probably five assistants during the time we did business with them. They couldn't even get fully trained before they were overwhelmed by the disorganization, and either quit or got fired. To be honest I don't know how some companies succeed, but hopefully this change will bring positive things.
