Celebrated a birthday with 4 adults and 2 older children. We were seated in the back room nicely decorated but unfortunately at a high top table which wasn't great for an older person. Waitress was good and support staff excellent refilling water etc. Overall a nice evening enjoying some different drinks and food dishes. Enjoyed some cocktails - Old fashion, Bees Knees, French 75 and the favorite being Moon Daisy, great tasting and beautiful presentation. We ordered a number of different dishes - Red Crab Bucatini, Hen of the Woods Mushrooms, Stracciatella, Bread, Eggplant Flatbread and Ricotta Gnocchi. My favorites were the Stracciatella, Flatbread and an outstanding Ricotta Gnocchi. The birthday girl was served a cookie with a lighted candle which was a nice touch. We also ordered crème brûlée and an espresso martini also good. We had reservations and were seated promptly. There is easy parking in a lot across the street. Eden is incredible and a great addition to the neighborhood. I went recently for drinks and an appetizer after work and had a great time. They have both inside and outside seating. Service was quick and friendly. We were greeted with a free bowl of homemade potato chips. They also have a wonderful selection of cocktails, beer, and wine. For happy hour bites, the menu is a bit limited- three options. We went with the pepper hummus, which was really delicious and came with a nice variety of crackers and veggies. Only complaint was there was way too much olive oil on the top of the hummus- we had to remove some. They also grow all of their own herbs, which is super cool! I'm really excited to check them out for breakfast and lunch sometime. I hope they extend their hours soon- and add dinner options! read more

The food was outstanding, including the delicious dinner rolls (they charge for the bread and it's well worth it). Our server was Kane (sp?) who was outstanding - great personality combined with very attentive, very helpful service. I highly recommend Eden. I've yet to see any reviews for the new Eden, an oasis in Avondale that is just a literal stone's throw from the Chicago river. As of right now, Eden is softly opening with a lovely breakfast and brunch menu until their complete dining menu opens in mid-to-late July. Do yourself a favor and get here for brunch while you can! There's nothing fancy or unique on the menu, just familiar favorites done exceptionally well with freshness you can taste. Take the avocado toast, for example, perfectly seasoning with layers of flavor go well beyond so many of the bland avocado toasts you've no doubt had. The freshness of the dish is palpable, it's as if they were picked just that morning, and as that is ultimately the goal at Eden, maybe they were! Very excited to have this restaurant just a few blocks from my house, and can't wait to see what's in store for the dinner menu! read more

I don't get the hype. I've wanted to try this place for awhile and finally got over here. I ordered the $10 Eden hot chocolate. It was barely lukewarm. The marshmallow on top was inedible. It tasted like Swiss Miss which I'm not hating on but expected better. They were out of the pastry we ordered and just totally forgot my husband's cup of gumbo he ordered. The Shrimp and Grits also came out lukewarm and didn't have the right proportions. The veggies were too big and took over the flavor. Not enough shrimp or grits. The turkey sandwich was fine. It said smoked turkey which I thought would be like hot turkey breast but it was just regular lunch meat. Our waters were empty most of the brunch and only got filled when they brought the check. My steak and eggs were pretty mediocre, but the seasonal donut was fantastic and the cinnamon roll was also really good and huge. It was date night and this time it was my husband's turn to pick. I said "Let's go somewhere new." When we stepped into this place I knew he was thinking of me when he picked it - totally up my alley. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. The room could use a bit of sound proofing because it was a bit loud but the overall vibe was classy without being snobby. The cocktails were amazing (which is one of my fave parts of a dining experience). Well balanced and creative. The food was divine. Their homemade turmeric and sourdough breads are to die for. Then the duck....melted right off the bone. Divine! Finally dessert, which I always get even if I'm stuffed. The opera cake was recommended and I'm glad we chose it. Beautiful pops of citrus with a coffee sauce over a soft pillowy dark chocolate cake. My my. We'll be back for sure to try their other dishes but this place is perfect for dates or meetups. 10/10! read more

I was excited to try Eden and went for my birthday dinner. I was really disappointed from the get go. Our table wasn't ready, so the hostess suggested we get a drink at the bar. We tried to, but it took 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us and there was only one other couple sitting at the bar and three people behind the bar. Sure it could be busy with the rest of the restaurant, but at least acknowledge us...they were attentive to the other couple. When we finally ordered, we were again waiting a long time to get drinks. Another couple sat down after we ordered our drinks, got attention right away, ordered the exact same drinks we did and they got their drinks before us! I would hope that there wasn't any bias going on here, but it seemed odd given that we were the only people of color in the restaurant and everyone else was getting attention. When we finally got seated, our waiter was not very friendly and was dismissive of our questions. Also, we just weren't very impressed with the food. I don't know if it's because we ordered vegetarian items? The only redeeming quality was who I assumed was the manager (shaved head with a beard) who came around towards the end and was super pleasant and friendly. Eden, where do I begin. Came here with a group of friends for a surprise birthday dinner and Eden delivered. They sat us in a private room (shared with one other table) and the ambiance was intimate and absolutely perfect! Our waitress was helpful and very attentive, the great customer service was very much appreciated. Moving on to the good stuff. The food! We ordered many different items to share and we were all blown away. The flavors, the presentation, chefs kiss. The burrata and charred broccoli was so fresh and creamy. Beef Tartare was very flavorful. Even the house made bread was divine! The hamachi crudo was a little underwhelming and a bit one dimensional, not terrible, but could skip. The crispy potatoes were amazing!! They had truffle oil, a creamy sauce on the bottom and were perfectly crisp, don't skip these. The wild mushroom rotolo was packed full of flavor and was a delight, I wish I had ordered more. The real star of the show was the Korean BBQ short rib. The short rib was super tender, it had a beautiful, flavorful glaze over it and it was just...WOW! Sorry for the lack of food pics but it left the plate before I could even get any pics in. However, enjoy the pic of this beautifully crafted cocktail, the Elevenses. It is a very refreshing gin cocktail and the presentation should tell you enough about how passionate the staff is. I've been to the new location twice and it's definitely becoming my spot for taking friends or guests. I brought my niece who is vegetarian and she was SO impressed with the menu! Both times we had the grilled flatbread which I'm thinking about ordering for dinner tonight, the spices on it are just perfection. The first time I came with some girl friends and we didn't realize it was restaurant week - they had a hanger steak on the menu that I hope they add to the permanent menu. We had the carrots the first time but forgot to order them the second time (we were stuffed from the flatbread and the pastas). The ambience is also on point. I wish I could take one of the private side rooms on and add it to my house for a dining room. I can't wait for an excuse to book a group on one of them! Everything appears to be carefully selected - decor, menu items, staff - and the experience is just about perfection. The service has been fantastic both times, loved learning about the progress toward becoming fully sustainable! For the quality of the meal and the experience overall, the prices are almost too reasonable. Three of us had dinner (app, pastas, dessert to take home, two or three drinks each) for under $200. read more

Eden is one of the best dining experiences I've had recently! We came here for dinner Saturday night and had been able to get reservations just earlier the same day. Apparently Eden used to be in a different location but now it's tucked away in a quiet corner in the roscoe village area. We ordered the followed items: Elevenses cocktail ($14): well balanced and delicious Carrot-cured walu crudo ($20): 5/5 this was phenomenal! The fish was soooo soft and buttery! The flavors blended very well together. The soft fish paired with crunchy asparagus and slightly tart strawberry all layered over a nice creamy sauce was pure perfection! Farro risotto ($18): 5/5 so delicious! I appreciated the generous amount of mushrooms and the buttery texture of the overall dish Pork Tagliatelle ($20): 4/5 this was also very good but in comparison to some of the other dishes it didn't wow us as much because the flavor profile wasn't as unique. Still very good though and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Wood-grilled spiced carrots ($12): 5/5 really great blend of flavors and textures! Apparently this dish is famous and has been featured as one of the best dishes to try in Chicago per our waiter If you haven't been to Eden you need to go! You can tell the amount of effort and creatively goes into each dish. The ingredients taste incredibly fresh which is something they pride themselves on. Not only is the food wonderful but the ambiance is on point. It's very modern while still feeling cozy. Staff is professional. The portions are not huge but also not tiny. Portions and prices are pretty reasonable for the quality you're getting but of course I'd love to have had more of everything! Can't wait to go back! read more

I recently hosted a wedding shower at Eden restaurant (2734 West Roscoe, Chicago) and had a GREAT experience! From the very beginning, working with Jennifer, their event planner, the process was pleasant and professional. The event room can accommodate 50 people; we had 27 guests and Eden accommodated us in every way possible. The room itself is light and airy, pleasant and charming. The food was outstanding, one entrée (we offered 4) more delicious than the next. Several guests commented to me as they were leaving their intention to return to the restaurant to share the fabulous food with family. Throughout the event, Amin, our server, brought a level of attention to our service, comfort, and happiness that was amazing and much appreciated. Overall, this is not a restaurant I will hurry back to, nor is it a place I would object to returning to. I enjoyed my evening here with friends. The ambiance was good and our server, Marty, was great, so mad props for that. We took advantage of half-off bottles of wine on Wednesdays, which was a nice bonus. I was not as impressed with the appetizers as I was with the entrees. My friends and I shared the burrata (good, but everything on the plate was served at a drastically different temperature, which was odd) and the grilled asparagus (good, but honestly nothing to write home about). We ordered one of each of the three pasta entrees and shared them, which was super fun. All of them were very good, but in my opinion the crab bucatini was the best. We could not have had a better experience!! We told the restaurant that our meal was for a birthday--it was for two birthdays--and they made everything incredibly special!! We had happy birthday wishes on our menus and a card signed by the staff!! Our waiter, Kane, was festive, attentive, and went well above and beyond for our group of five. The ambiance was warm, cozy and sophisticated. We were seated in a separate dining area and it was just beautiful. Our drinks were divine; we especially enjoyed the Cava Brut champagne and French 75 cocktail. And the food... We ordered most of the vegetable side dishes,and each was better than the last! We especially enjoyed the Brussels sprouts with apricot jam and the broccolini in bearnaise sauce... so good. We really enjoyed our recent visit to Eden! Excellent service - we weren't celebrating any special, just a normal night out, and they brought us a complementary glass of champagne upon being seated at our table! Not sure how customary this is, so unsure if it should be expected every time. Our server recommended 4-6 dishes for two people to share so we ordered the hamachi crudo, loaded potatoes, brussels sprouts and the burger. Everything we ordered was delicious but the crudo was probably our favorite. My only complaint or criticism was for the burger, it doesn't mention that it comes with fries. Now I get a burger and fries is a normal thing, but then put on the menu it comes with fries. Or the server should have mentioned it. Because although the loaded potatoes were very good, we didn't need two kinds of potatoes. We would have ordered something other than the loaded potatoes. That's a very small complaint, and nothing that will stop us from returning. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying other items on the menu as there are plenty of other dishes that I'm sure would be magnificent. read more

Eden is a welcome addition to Avondale. Excellent food, cocktails, and wine. For food, I recommend the beef tartare, salmon, and chocolate cake for dinner. For lunch, the roast beef is also a winning choice. The cocktail list is eclectic and my noble bourbon boozers will love the 36, which is a riff on a Manhattan with some grapefruit to lighten it up. I went easy on the grapefruit because of my dark soul. They also make a superb Vieux Carre. The wine list also has interesting selections and the rose and albarino are perfect summer options. I look forward to returning in cooler weather to explore the reds. The design is clean and modern and service is very friendly. Definitely a winning spot! read more

And I can't say enough about how refreshing it is to see a clearly-designed menu -- no explanation needed about plate sizes with instructions about how many "shareables" to order. (In fact, I'm so over the "shared plates" concept, just let people order their own meals, we can still share bites if we wish!) Everything tasted great, with balanced seasoning, interesting ingredients, and and the right level of doneness. The portions were also just right, and the pricing reasonable. Every checkmark, ticked!! Our server Cain was terrific, and the manager was also very attentive. In fact, he mistook my husband craning his neck (to get a gander at a group of 7 loud women behind us), and came over right away to check on us. From the bright and airy, modern clean lines decor to the outstanding food A plus all the way. The avocado toast was great and the kale salad I substituted instead of the potatoes was excellent. My dining partner did get the potatoes and they were outstanding ( I'll spurge on those next time). Eden has become one of the few Chicago restaurants that I return to often. The revolving menu is inventive and accessible, food is outstanding, service is informative & attentive & the lighting & noice levels in the restaurant are enjoyable. So few restaurants these days encourage their guests to relax & have conversation with their table mates. During the summer, the outside seating is lovely- no trucks barreling by or busy sidewalks with people gawking at you. A huge bonus is a very large free parking lot across the street. I hate to share this review as it may mean I won't get a reservation there but the restaurant deserves it, as does the manager Mark. read more

I think sheer anticipation let me down for this place. My expectations were on stellar as I've been trying since Father's Day to dine here not to mention several people vouched for this place. The food is good not great but I was anticipating stellar or otherworldly food. The hamachi appetizer was ok. The bread was confusing as Twas an $8 appetizer that honestly should've been served complimentary. I'm currently on meds so I couldn't drink & I paid $16 for a spirit free drink that was also lackluster. I have to mention that the rosemary fries were damn near perfect. My entrees along with the decor were truly the highlights of the meal. My gnocchi tasted pretty good & had the perfect chewiness to it. The turbot was paired quite nicely with some super acidic tomatoes. Lastly the chocolate cake was also ok but to its credit was served with some delicious & fresh berries. read more
