You are at the mercy menu-wise of whatever they're making that day that is fresh at the time but you can walk up and point at whatever you want in a large to-go container. They're only open 11-2, Monday through Friday. They take cash or check only, no plastic. The menu is "prix fixe", where every day there is a different entree and/or appetizer offered. Their 2 most popular dishes are the hot and spicy ginger chicken and the beef and potatoes. There are other dishes that people like but generally this is what people order with their delicious egg rolls. This place is not using local, organic ingredients and it's not particularly healthy. This all being said, it's REALLY GOOD. If you are a fan of Vietnamese style beef and potatoes these are DELICIOUS . Their version is made with freshly house fried crispy potatoes and thinly sliced tender beef in a rich gravy like sauce with caramelized onions. The egg rolls are Vietnamese style with a little cup of watered down fish sauce. This is old school comfort food at its best. They give you a huge portion for around $8 and they are FAST. I have got to believe that these reviews were paid for by the restaurant. This was the WORST Chinese (certainly not vietnamese) food I have ever eaten. Egg rolls taste like cardboard and the Ginger Spicy Chicken was horrible - tasted like they added curry powder (a westernized spice made popular as an ingredient in meals prepared for British soldiers during the two world wars that bears no resemblance to the spice mixtures used in asian cooking called "curry"). Its spiciness appeared to be thanks to a large dose of black pepper, rather than red peppers or white pepper that is typically used in asian cooking. It is true that the place is jammed at lunch. It is also true that the portion sizes are huge - most of the regulars ordered their food to go so that they had a built in vessel to take home leftovers (amazed that anybody would want to). Give up on this and try the buffet at Lucky Inn further north on Shady Oak road. While certainly not authentic Chinese food, their dishes are admirably prepared and a very good deal at lunch. read more

The cafeteria style service heaps on portions like your grandmother would when you were a still a "growing boy." They have 5 or so entrees per day, but the place is hopping so everything is fresh. You can make a combination of anything you see and the price will still be less than $10 per person. The beef and fried potatoes is the best I've ever had, and that's saying something! I knocked off one star because the hot and spicy chicken was less caramelized and more ginger forward than I prefer, and their eggrolls are good, but not up to the stiff competition of other Twin City elite locations. No-nonsense asian food, with a short, rotating menu of all good dishes. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Food is served cafeteria-style, but always fresh since the lunch crowd makes turnover frequent. They run lunch like a well-oiled machine (like a really good sub shop), and if you happen to get there just as your favorite dish has been emptied, they will bring the steaming fresh plate out to your table as soon as it's ready. I went there another day and they were not serving Beef & Broccoli so I tried the Hot and Spicy Ginger Chicken. That is my favorite. Tried this place since i don't care for the other two Asian/Chinese places near where I work. I pulled up Google maps to see what was around and this place had lots of positive feedback on Google. Honestly, I'm not sure what these other people were raving about. Maybe they don't have much else in this cuisine style for comparison? Their menu is limited, which isn't a bad thing. I'm told they rotate it regularly. They are in a business office complex which makes me think that is mostly the reason people do go. Convenient and fairly cheap. You get a main dish, appetizer, and choice of steamed or fried rice. The service is quick and efficient so i would give a 5 star on that alone. Today had spicy ginger beef, chicken lo mein, spicy beef, and a couple others. I have acid reflux that gets aggravated by spicy food so i played it safe with chicken lo mein. The appetizers offered were egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, or potstickers. I chose egg roll. The chicken lo mein was ok at best. It wasn't horrible but of the whole pile of it i got, there were maybe 4 or 5 cubes of chicken about 1/2" in size. The rest was noodles and vegetables. The fried rice barely fit the description. No flavor, and nothing more than what looked like brown food coloring rather than soy sauce. I didn't taste the soy sauce even. The egg roll was ok. Not bad but the skin used was not a style i have had before. The texture was very different than of egg rolls i have had at various places elsewhere. But the thing was bland. No seasonings at all. The sauce they give you barely rescues it. I don't know what it is about this area of the twin cities but boring, bland Asian/Chinese food seems to be common. Two other places i have been nearby are the same way. Bland, seemingly pre-made foods from the same bulk supplier, with no real flavor depth. The whole meal was $8, but i can spend the same or few more dollars for a fantastic meal elsewhere. I got introduced to this place by a coworker. Excellent quality food. The fried rice is actually toasted until slightly golden brown in parts as opposed to colored with soy or something else. The beef potato is excellent, as is the hot and spicy ginger chicken and the pepper beef. On tuesdays and fridays they have a yellow vietnamese coconut curry that truly excels in the flavor profile department. Get there early, they run out sometimes. $7.75 for entree+rice+(eggroll or wonton appetizer). The wonton and eggroll sauce options are excellent. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's always a hallmark of a good restaurant if I can't decide whether or not to try something new or stick with something I've had before because it's so consistently good.
