Avoid at any cost. It took better than a half hour to be served our food, while people who had come in after us were served. During this period, the waitress ignored us, not coming over to offer water or refills on coffee. When we managed to flag her down to protest, she said it would be coming soon accompanied by a fatalistic shrug. As for the food itself, I understand that the Vineyard is expensive. But I was charged 12 dollars for a "Southern Bennie" which is advertised as fried chicken, poached eggs, and gravy over grilled cornbread. What arrived appeared to be a single chicken tender cut in half adorning 2 1 1/2" squares of cornbread with over cooked poached eggs and a smear of "gravy." It was the absolute minimum amount of food they could serve and get away with. My wife ordered an "Vermont" omelette filled with sausage, cheese and apples. The apples were overly sweet canned apple pie filling. My son's burger was served plain with no lettuce or tomato, and was accompanied by a ridiculously sparse portion of French fries. Apparently the entire menu is the children's menu with regard to portion sizes. This place was awful when it was the Main Street Diner and the new owners are carrying on the tradition. Little more than a tourist trap and a waste of your hunger and your money. Were it possible to award a negative number of stars I would have. read more

Visiting Martha's Vineyard for a short vacation and with it being off season the dining choices are limited, but despite that we managed to find this place. Basic diner theme inside, great service and most of all the food was prepared perfectly. In addition to toast they offer corn bread, went with it and would highly recommend if you are a corn bread fan, it was delicious. My wife got eggs with spinach, brussel sprouts, asparagus and of course plenty of bacon, again delicious. We will be back next time, looking forward to it. read more

Coming into this diner, I was a pancake person. After trying the chicken and waffles, I was transformed. The waffles were the best waffles anyone in my party had ever eaten. Soft on the inside, perfectly crunchy on the outside, and very flavorful. The chicken was juicy and crisp and paired perfectly with the waffles. Our waitress Esther was engaging, kept our coffees filled, and all with a smile on her face. The egg and brussel sprout dish was delicious, as were the banana bread French toast and farmers omelette. The church street bus stop was less than a block away, making it a very convenient place to stop before a day at the beach or walking around town. Just look down the alley to the right of the bus stop and you will see the comfortable outdoor seating and red and white awnings. The best breakfast I have eaten in a while. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the Edgartown area. They also serve lunch and dinner and the menu for those looked delicious too. read more

Had lunch at this cute 50's themed diner in downtown Edgartown. Breakfast is offered until 2 pm. They were a bit understaffed when we arrived but service was friendly and pleasant. I had a breakfast special for lunch, my son had a chicken sandwich and my husband has a pastrami sandwich. We all enjoyed our meals. We also enjoyed quizzing each other with the Trivial Pursuit cards that were on the table. Prices were under 15 dollars per entree and compared to other places in town is a good value. read more

Difficult to find since its all the way down a long hallway. But once you make it in you are greeted by some of the nicest servers I've ever met, and fantastic food. The decor is very nice, it's all 50s themed. They have a wide variety of food and some of the best biscuits I've ever had. I would highly recommend this place! read more

I'd give them 5 stars as I absolutely LOVE the look of the place and friendliness and everything. Food was ok, and it wasn't too pricey like so much on the Vineyard. They could improve on their coffee. There's nothing like excellent coffee early in the morning. Waitress was very sweet, told me Oh, you'll love the coffee. No, I didn't. Have some options :) Dark roast, is not everyone's favourite. Columbian coffee, or shade grown, medium roast would be much better. Great restaurant! The scenery was very cute, I love a good "50's diner" theme. The waitresses were very accommodating and friendly. They had no problem splitting up our complicated bill between a large number of people. My waitress, Esther, was especially great. American diner decor was fabulous and the 50s music completed the setting. It was quite empty - only one other customer - which made me a little apprehensive. Food took a while to arrive. Mozzarella sticks were a little on the skinny side and the cheese quality and smooth dip tasted basic. I really like mozzarella sticks, but sadly these resembled supermarket, rather than restaurant quality. Milkshake again tasted of supermarket quality - as if a sachet had been added to milk. Nesquik came to mind on first sip. Diet Coke had an unusual taste. It was drinkable but just didn't quite taste of Coke. Veggie burger was above expectation and accompanied salad was crisp and fresh. Sadly, a long blond hair was discovered mid meal in the fries (yuk!). I was quite tired and couldn't be bothered to mention, but it put me off my meal. Toilets were in real need of attention. Even though they were locked -key provided on request - I found it loaded with dirty nappies. Overall, food was middle of the road and I don't feel it will be as memorable as the decor. Cute 50's themed diner. Food is reasonably priced and the food served there is the type that is served at any other diner. Our waitress was a sweet lady, but unfortunately she was the only one waitressing when my boyfriend and I went there for breakfast. We waited a very long time for the check after our plates were taken. Makes zero sense to have one waitress in the summer. Might want to change that because it made the beginning of our weekend getaway very sour. read more

Really good diner for breakfast with big portions. Service isn't very fast, but it is very friendly. The cornbread looked really good but I had toast instead. The omelets are huge and really good, and the potatoes and bacon were cooked great. Coffee was very good too, which is very important. In the winter, the diner is a good basic diner style meal. But, we just went back in July and the breakfast we had was not edible. A BLT, old lettuce, stale toast, a gob of mayo and thin greasy bacon that smelled like it came off a gasoline dirty grill. My husband scrambled eggs were gray, assuming from a dirty grease of a griddle, grilled cornbread was browned on the grill and was a Greasy mess, potatoes black crisp and greasy- like they had been on the grill all day (it was 11 am) - awful meal. Had lunch at Edgartown Diner on a lazy vacation Saturday afternoon. We were a party of 7 with 2 kids. The first thing we noticed is the decor; it's like going back in time to the 50's....even the kids liked that. They had 50's music which was quite charming. The servers were super friendly. I'm writing this review because the food was great! I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was very tasty without being overwhelming. My husband had the chicken and waffles which he thought was very good. My mom had the Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries and she cleaned her plate (she never does that). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it took a while for the food to come out BUT it kind of fits the '50's charm. They had trivia cards on the table which we used to enjoy digital free family time. :) We will definitely add this to our MV rotation. read more

This review is a bit late but I am a man of my word and told the owner I was so impressed, I would write a review. I took my grandma here to have a meal because she was feeling like some fried chicken (which she ended up not getting lol) and I saw they had it on the menu. I don't remember what she ordered, but I remember I got the jerk chicken. Come to find out, the owner is a young lady with Jamaican roots and this was some of the best jerk chicken I have ever had! Not only was the food delish, the staff and the owner were some of the nicest, most loving people I've met in the restaurant industry. I was pleased that it didn't break the bank when it came to price. I left my wallet and the owner ran out looking for me. She really tried hard to find me...I went out the side door and she went out the front to the main street the diner was on. She didn't come back for a few minutes after I had returned. She was seriously looking for me! Who does that? Highly impressed and would recommend to anyone who wants great food in a chill environment where the service is impeccable. read more

Food OK but overpriced, even for MV. Service was reasonably attentive. Restroom was disgusting.

We got there at 10:10, didn't get to even order our food until 10:30 and then had to wait for another 45 minutes before our drinks even came. Our food didn't even come until 11:30. They didn't get a few of our orders right, either. We clearly told our waitress we had somewhere to be at 11:30, as did the majority of the people in the diner as we were in a large group. Still, it took a long time. Only one waitress was working at the time and she was clearly overwhelmed even when there weren't many people there. They even had their cook come out and take orders, delaying the food even more. At least four tables got up and left because of how long it was taking. This establishment needs to get their shit together, because currently they don't. read more
