These people are scam artists! Tried to rip me off big time. Brought a used bike (about 7-8 years old) in for a tune up, and they quoted me $215 for the repairs. Not knowing anything about bicycles, and trusting an independent neighborhood shop, I left them the bike. Upon leaving the store I had a bad feeling about it, and did some online research. I quickly learned that the quoted $215 was way to high. I ended up bringing the bike to an independent cyclist in Andersonville who fixed it for me for $30. To reiterate, I have never felt more ripped off and taken advantage of in my entire life as a consumer, and I would caution everyone to steer clear of these SCAM ARTISTS. One thing that really irritated me in particular was their willingness to lie. They told me I needed new tires and new brake pads, which I believed, considering that the bike was old. When I brought it to the independent bike mechanic, one of the first things he told me was that my tires and brake pads were in excellent, near new condition. In short, they were willing to lie about anything that will get you to purchase a replacement part, even if the parts are fine. Again, I have really never felt this passionately upset at a business for taking advantage of consumers in a specialty market. Steer clear of this place, unless you want them to steal money right out of your pocket for unnecessary service charges and replacement parts. They also told me that the repairs would take 4 days. The independent cyclist I brought it to did all of the repairs and additional work in 40 minutes. read more

they were very nice to me and honest about what sort of bike i'd need for long distance and winter. big selection of bikes to choose from too which is making my decision harder when it comes to what i want! my questions were all answered as well without any attitude. my dad dropped off the tandem bicycle we've owned for 15 years or so for a chain that keeps coming off, basic tuneup, and to replace the front wheel rim. supposed to pick it up today. i'll come back here and write about this tonight and let you know what happens seeing as how from other reviews, people aren't happy with their repairs. hmm. read more

If I could make this star into 1/4 star I would. I've been to this place about 4 times and every time I'm disappointed with the cost and service. They take a long time to fix brakes or tune up bikes. Everything there is overpriced! It's close to home and I want to go to a local business but I regret it afterwards. Where to start....... I'll start at the front door. Clean, everything on the outside of the shop was clean and bright and inviting and immediately made me feel good about choosing Edgebrook Cycle. Holding my Cannondale by the stem I was directed around the side to the dedicated service entrance. A service entrance! I was welcomed in by a nice man and a friendly woman who looked at my bike and knew right away they could help. Jim immediately put my bike up on the bike examination stand and gave it a quick but thorough examination. I went in there thinking the worst for my Cannondale that sat for 3 years in a shed, but Jim assured me I would have it back in a week. I had it back in 4 days! The work is exceptional the parts are top of the line and the price? Incredibly affordable. I even asked if they "were sure?" when I got the bill and Mary assured me they were. The extensive bike selection of top of the line Fuji bicycles is matched by the even more extensive selection of bikes for all riders, and all the parts you could ever need. I have gone back since my visit in August and I will continue to exclusively use Edgebrook Cycle for anything and everything cycle related I need. read more

Came in with a flat tire today not knowing what to expect because of some of the reviews. Nate, one of the mechanics, was really nice and offered to change the tube for me. Explained many of the reasons for my ongoing flat problems and inspected the tire before putting the tube in. Tube price was decent. 15 bucks for the change. Little pricey but I didn't leave disappointed. Will go again. read more

Buy a bike from them, thinking I would get personal service, i.e proper fitting of seat and leg adjustments. I was wrong. Have taken the bike back a couple of times becauxse it needed adjustments. Older dude always has a attitude. Sorry I boughjt from them. Better off with a chain like Dicks or Sports Mart. I recently went into this shop on fathers day, because like most people on here, its close to my house and I needed a quick repair on my bike. I hadn't read any reviews prior to my visit, or knew nothing of this shop but you can be sure that I'm NOT going back. They were rude, prices were jacked up high. when they were done with my repair, I gladly overpaid them their money and bolted out of there. I did find a better bike shop on the north side to take my bike to. Anywhere else is well worth the extra drive time and gas......BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

I refuse to give hard-earned money to people who act like THEY'RE doing ME a favor by selling me something. We bought a bike rack for the car several weeks ago, and the owner had this attitude like she had better things to do than help us. I was in there yesterday to check out and buy a bike helmet. The same woman was there and basically just pointed me in the direction of the helmets then walked away. No "what kind of helmet do you want" or "do you have something specific in mind". She started to leave, so I took her hint and walked away myself. I'm all for giving my business to the small, neighborhood businesses, but not if they have an indifferent attitude. I purchased a bike on Friday and called on Monday asking to about the return policy and was greeted with a rude response. There was nothing stated on the receipt or their website on a return policy. The bike had not been used at all. Nothing not even store credit was offered. My son had orginally asked for a bike from Santa and when we went to see Santa he changed his wish. I was just hoping for some kindness and not such a blunt response. I can't see myself returning other than the maintance if I have to. read more

Very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staff. I recently purchased some brakes that ended up not clearing the fenders on the bike, and they made the return pain-free (which isn't always a given these days). I highly recommend them for both buying parts and for performing service. read more

Worst customer service! at first the elderly women working in the store greeted me with a smile. I thought what a nice lady....then her demeanor quickly changed. I know nothing about bicycles, so i had some questions hoping to find some help. I went to the wrong place for that. All i received was a old angry troll who had no patience for questions. She waved here arms around as if this gesture would coax me to speak faster. When she asked me for my price range (which i admit was low, but that is no reason to speak to people the way she spoke to me) she turned her head with a rude tone and said "yeah not in this store" yeah no kidding you rude heifer! If you want to get ripped off and spoken to like your an idiot go to edgebrook cycle. Im doing this review from my phone and accidentally gave one star. So my Dad and I went to Edgebrook cycle to get some things so I can finish my track bike build. We were walking around because the cashier was talking on the phone and helping a boy get his bike working. I went here because it was pretty close to where I lived and the shop is very clean and has a really nice selection of bikes and components. I was just look for tires,tubes,and a chain and when she was done helping the boy she was able to get me the things I wanted. The only reason I'm giving this store a 4 star is because the prices are pretty high I bought a tube for $11 which is pretty expensive since tubes are normally $5. When she showed me some of the tires they were about $50 so I just asked her if she has more affordable tires because I just need one tire and she brought out a bunch of tires which was really great and they were affordable which was great.My conclusion is that this is a really good shop after what I experienced but if you want the right things you will have to ask nicely. read more

Over priced! Needed to have tire replaced. The labor was more than the cost of the product! Unbelievable. The product looked good, but at the price I paid, deserved at least that much. Will definitely stay away from there in the future. read more

I've recieved good custermer service, mechanical service and competent product knowledge at edgebrook cycle. In my experience the pricing was straight forward and honest, and I recieved a quote for service work before starting the work. I'm generally satisfied with edgebrook cycle and will look forward to the next oportunity to use their services. read more
