4.5 Stars Need some seriously delicious truffles for someone special? Maybe some sort of decadently sweet delicious dessert. . . Sorry, had to wipe some drool off of my keyboard. I have two chocolholics in my life and whenever a holiday rolls around or just because, this is my go to place for buy them something. The truffles are wonderful and they have a nice little selection of them for you. They're all handmade in the kitchen and are sure to elicit little hums of happiness from any chocoholic. Only thing keeping me from giving her 5 stars is that one of the chocoholics likes the combination of sweet/heat in her truffles and Edis is sometimes lacking in these. But that it no way prevents me from going there and picking up a half dozen truffles. I have one serious problem with their lemon bar, it's huge and I can't stop eating it. Ok, so maybe that is more of my problem. Seriously though it's a big lemon bar and is my favorite in town. Edis has found that balance between sweet and tart that so many places fail to reach. If only I could make it last over 3 days instead of eating it all at once. Their chocolate cakes are seriously good also. Don't know how she does it so well but like the lemon bars she manages to strike the right balance of sweet/chocolate/moistness. Sigh. Since my neighbor moved, I had no one bringing me chocolate bliss from Edis. And so, I finally went. Several times. Never walk away without a pool of chocolate sprinkled with fruits, nuts, or both. You will not go back to candy bars after one of these. The chocolate is so fresh and decadent that it melts smoothly at each bite; it feels like you are eating it in slow motion. They make such great gifts too! Aside from the chocolate, they have pastries, cakes and coffee. And most of these are with... chocolate. Edi is a sweet, hospitable lady from Brazil who makes silky chocolate desserts that melt in your mouth. It was almost 6 when we went in for a quick afternoon coffee and dessert, and she kindly let us stay beyond closing time. We had hazelnut amaretto torte and bread pudding, with coffee and hot chocolate (made freshly with milk and cocoa powder). Portion is decently small (European size). Everything was under $4. The torte is moderately sweet and smooth, perfect with the crunchy nut base. The bread pudding's dried fruit goes well with the caramel sauce underneath. I haven't had the coffee, but the hot chocolate was easy to drink even under hot Austin summer. At the end, she gave us free truffle samples she made, and the sweetness and silkiness were spot on. She mentioned that her business has been open for 4 years, but the location makes it difficult to get more business. It's worthwhile to drive over there and check it out! We used Edis Chocolates to provide chocolate bark for our wedding, instead of wedding cake, as I am gluten free and my husband and I love chocolate. It was amazing chocolate and the guests loved it! It was very reasonably priced, especially for 17lbs of chocolate bark! The chocolate was amazing, as was the service. Edis said she would do any combination we requested and they were all wonderful. Edis makes the best pastries and chocolates I have had in Austin! Better than upper crust, better than bribery, on par with baguette et chocolat. I called in a large order one day in advance, and Edis was so accommodating and easy to work with! She even timed the croissants to be freshly baked for my arrival. Speaking of croissants, these are the best I have ever had: flaky on the outside, chewy/doughy and layered on the inside! The lemon and lime bars are also the best I have ever had and huuuuge portions for the price. Also loved the hazelnut amaretto torte, super rich and creamy, reminiscent of hazelnut gelato. I chose a beautifully-designed red velvet heart-shaped cake and six truffles. The price is a little on the high side, but it's artisan chocolate, so hopefully it's worth it! I didn't get to try the truffles (they were a gift for the couple), but we did eat the cake at their place and it was pretty dry. :( Not bad with the icing though! My first and last experience. I went to get chocolates for clients of mine. When I got home, I realized there were no labels in the boxes. Which is standard of chocolates but FDA kinda requires ingredient labels anyway. It's problematic for people with allergies and I've never seen that before. I called. There was no apology, I was told by the owner that "bigger boxes are labeled but I had smaller ones that were left overs" - which, made me feel great. She said she can tell me which ones for me to label or I can bring them in. Again, no apology or consideration to that I was pretty upset or this wasted my time. Dropped them off. When I picked it up I was told in the future I should let them know in advance for any "special requirements." I've never written a bad review, but what a bad experience. I called my sister after and she asked which place and she said, "oh, we were going to order from there for a coworker but obviously not now, I don't want 'leftover' food." Checking my receipt for several items, I noticed that I was charged $2.25. Called and asked how much coffee was supposed to be and was told $2. When I told her the computerized register charged $2.25, she said. "Oh, then it's $2.25." When I told her the posted board said $2, she didn't apologize and just said "I'll have to change the board."
