Even though they're based in Austin, they ship nationwide, which makes it really convenient if you're looking for custom cookies for an event or gift. Both times I ordered custom cookies, and the whole process was incredibly smooth. If you've ever ordered decorated cookies before, you know the process can sometimes feel complicated with designs, quantities, timelines, etc., but their team made it super easy from start to finish. What really stood out to me was the customer service. The staff were amazing and incredibly responsive, answering all of my questions and making sure everything was clear before placing the order. I am extremely disappointed in Hayley's cupcakes. We ordered cupcakes for my friend's baby shower and the cupcakes were melted, the strawberry designs melted, and there was a fly on one of the cupcakes. I went to the establishment to get a refund and the person working on site said to send the company an email. She also said she would call on our behalf to get this issue expedited. After multiple emails and photo evidence, there has not been any communication on how to get a refund. I recommend going somewhere else and you can find a cheaper option. read more

I needed a birthday cake on super short notice, my friend texted me the morning before her boyfriend's birthday asking if I could help find one. After some quick research, I called Hayley's and they were a lifesaver! They had ready-to-go birthday cakes, and I picked up a 6-inch chocolate cake with a custom birthday message written around it. The cake was rich, moist, and full of chocolatey goodness. Everyone loved it! The shop itself has a really nice ambience. It's cozy, with plenty of seating if you want to hang out for a bit. BEST cupcakes of ALL time! Most cupcake spots have 2-3 good flavors. All the flavors were delicious and different. We loved the churro, cookie dough, red velvet, chocolate, bday/confetti, lemon and razzle dazzle. We froze 2 of them and once you defrost them they still take moist and delicious. We're super displeased with the end result of our cake. The communication was robotic and practically non-existent throughout the entire process. We supplied them with our vision and it came out amateurish and rushed. They talked us into a bigger cake to "make the car look more detailed", which you can't tell if it is or not because they covered it with flames across 95% of the cake, when they were just supposed to be in the background. We asked to see samples or mock ups and were told no because the cake wasn't done yet. Then when we requested changes afterwards, we were told it was "too late and no changes could be made at this point". I've been ordering my birthday cakes from Haley Cakes for the past 3 years and have always been happy with the results until this year. I went online as usual to request a custom birthday cake, and after receiving the quote (before the payment deadline), I called to request a small change just to add extra wording on the cake. I wanted to check if this would affect the price before paying, but when I called, I was told they could no longer fulfill the order. This was surprising and frustrating because I contacted them before the deadline. I explained that, but it didn't matter to them the only response I got was that "we're too busy." I understand being busy, but this lack of flexibility and care for returning customers was disappointing. After 3 years of consistently ordering from them, this experience has made it clear that customer loyalty isn't valued. Ordered a cake that I specified was to be used as part of a birthday photoshoot & what they brought out was nothing like what I had asked for and it honestly looked like a child had decorated it. I provided multiple inspiration images & notes on what I wanted for the cake. I'm perfectly aware that since these inspiration cakes were not made by Hayley Cakes that I could not expect them to look exactly the same & just wanted them to pick & choose aspects they thought they would be able to execute well, but what they tried to give me was completely sloppy & looked terrible. The image line work & colors were awful AND the spacing between the art was random (some of the doodles were touching and overlapping each other & others had random segments of blank space in between). I'm honestly speechless & mystified at how they were prepared to give out a cake that looked like this especially since I've seen the quality work that this bakery does for their clients. If they felt like they weren't able to do the designs that I submitted (some of which weren't elaborate or complicated at all), then they should've disclosed that after I submitted the inquiry or contacted me about it at any point of the process. The only reason why I'd even rate this place 1 star is because the people who were working there today (10/21) were great. They completely understood that this cake was not acceptable and even though their cake decorators had already gone home, they got a cookie decorator to scrape the cake clean and redo it (I attached a picture of the cake after it was redone). I waited in store and she was able to redo it in about an hour. Given the time frame I was very happy with the fix, but given what I paid for it and thought I'd be receiving, it's still not worth the money I had paid when I submitted the cake quote inquiry. Totally stressful experience & I'm very glad that I had enough time to sit and wait for them to redo the cake before the birthday photoshoot. read more

The store is so cute so I wish I could've sat in and admired it more - one day! The girl behind the counter was doing an excellent job of maintaining calmness and friendliness while being efficient on a busy day leading up to a holiday weekend. The cookies are decorated so creative, adorable and attractive. I opted for a gluten-free cupcake - and honestly, I'm not even a cupcake fan (I know), but this one was so incredible. It was moist, delicious and the frosting, which I usually wipe out, was actually flavorful! They use almond flour for the gluten free option and it was baked to perfection. You know what else is worth mentioning -- the really sturdy box it comes in! Wanna first-hand experience the absolute Worst customer service in the 2023 bakery industry game? Look no further than Hayley's! my entire experience couldn't have been more superficial, apathetic, & un-personable - and that's under the circumstances that a friend referred me to these guys... This business' biggest downfall: Hayley's Bakery does not pay a human person to answer their damn telephone. for A BAKERY! HOWWWWW?!?! wut. where tf am i??? You cannot place your order over the phone; you must do it online. You cannot speak directly to anyone physically working, located in the bakery. Rather, if you call Hayley's Bakery, you are at the bloody mercy of a phone tree system, and speaking directly to any one from the company is *NOT* an option. i never celebrate my birthday. i can't accurately tell you how long it's been since i've had a birthday cake on my birthday. that said, this very specifically ordered birthday cake was meant to make my 35th milestone bday special. Even though i made it very transparent and clear in my order notes (as pictured, via their online ordering system) that i NEEDED for them to call me to discuss what i wanted and needed out of my cake order, i never got a single call from Hayley's Bakery. to this day. not a 1 call. On the scheduled pickup day for my birthday cake, i called Hayley's around 4:15p, N/A, so i left them a voicemail letting them know a friend would be picking up my paid-for cake on my behalf. This friend of mine tried calling the bakery herself as well to ensure that someone would still be there at the bakery by the time she got there, which was 3 minutes after closing, or at the very worst, that an employee could throw it outside of their front doors / on their doorstep so that my $85 cake could be retrieved by my friend a mere few minutes later...all of which, we not only suggested, but pleaded & requested, they do for me in the voicemails we left them...but, NOPE. NADA. N/A ALL DAY @ HAYLEY'S BAKERY ! Allllllll of this because they choose to make the business decision to NOT have a business phone line that is consistently, solely answered by an in-house employee HUMAN, who is physically present at the bakery where the goods are made & picked up from... I called the bakery after my sour-inducing, 35th-birthday-cake-less party and experience, and actually did get to speak to the vice president by chance, not per my request, i'll just make that clear! Ofc, i explained the entire context etc to him, and he chose to savagely respond that their open hours of operation are stated on their website, so neither a partial nor full refund would be given to me......a blatant lack of self-awareness, and a blatant lack of care for the sensitive context of your paying customer's transaction with your business, which is the very nature of the bakery industry that you cherry-picked for yourself, so what the hell are y'all over at Hayley's Bakery even doing, or tryin to do??? The cookies are delicious. But service is dismal. Last Christmas, I placed a cookie order with names written on each cookie to be used as place cards. The week of Christmas they informed me they were unable to fill the order. Again for Thanksgiving, the same thing happened. I placed the order - was told that I needed to select from stock on which the names could be written AND the exact same thing happened. After telling me that the order was confirmed, they called today and said it could not be filled. Really? If you want a cookie, its a great place to walk in and purchase a premade cookie. However, if you want anything that's not in the case - cakes, cookies, anything - be prepared to be told at the LAST minute that the order will not be filled.
