The aszhole at Ed's completely robbed my wife and then their transmission we paid $8000.00 for didn't work 4 months later and these cksuckers wouldn't warranty their work like their website says. Hello David, The transmission is making noises and changing gear too slow (taking too long to start to switch gears). This happened on Monday 6/7/21. It also made a loud noise. My husband brought it in last week to have it checked by you because it was not going into reverse smoothly. You sent it home with no service saying you drove it around and could not find anything wrong. It is very frustrating to have such seemingly bad things going on with the transmission. We had you rebuild it 11/17/17 at the cost of $2617.44. Invoice number 85595. It was brought in per your instructions for a 1000 and 12,000-mile service inspection. Since that rebuild it has been driven 22,000 miles. Only a small amount of those miles was towing a small vintage trailer. It broke down again while still under warranty and you repaired it. Greg had it serviced 4 months ago at 20,000. Fluids have been maintained perfectly. We need it repaired. It is still under the warranty mileage but has passed the 3-year warranty mark by a few months. Are you willing to repair this properly or do we need to go to another transmission shop? They have not returned our calls or email. Avoid this place like the plague. Immoral business practices and awful customer service. read more

Brought my Jeep here after noticing some fluid leaking near the transmission. I had already taken it to two other shops, one which ripped me off and the other that didn't even want to look at it. Ed's is by far the most honest and straight-forward mechanic I've ever been to. They looked at my Jeep, told me what the issue was, gave me a quote within minutes and then advised me on what was best to do. Avoid this place like the plague. Immoral business practices and awful customer service. When the transmission in our vehicle failed we took it to a place near where it broke down and were quoted $3500 for a rebuild. We called around and spoke with Ed's mechanic who said he's been doing this for 42 years and was confident it would be closer to 2500-3000 and take ~3 days. This was on a Monday, so we had it towed there that afternoon. I asked for a call when they removed it to get a firm quote on the work rather than a speculative quote. Then David started answering my calls. By Friday I still hadn't received a call so I called them and was told the transmission was out of the car but no work done yet. I was told probably ready for pickup on Tuesday. So much for 3 days but oh well, life goes on. Tuesday my wife made arrangements to work from home so she could walk to the shop and pick the car up when it was done. Tuesday afternoon rolls around and no call from the shop, as usual. I call and am told it won't be ready but probably Wednesday morning. I ask about the quote and David tells me he never put one together assuming I just wanted it fixed no matter the price. I've never encountered this with a automotive shop before, you should always be able to approve or question the quote. Wednesday morning no call, I call and it's not ready. Wednesday afternoon I call and still not ready, this time I spoke with Matt who was apologetic and claimed they were backed up and hopefully Thursday. Thursday morning I get a call from them for the very first time, it's David telling me they need to do one last thing then it'll be ready by end of day. I ask for the final price and he still hasn't put together my quote but says he'll call back. When he calls back he tells me it'll be $3088 before tax and fluids. I tell him that's not an out the door price that any sane person would accept and request the final tally. He then tells me it'll cost $3478 all total. I said I was told in the beginning that the estimate was 2500-3000, and David said it was the $3000 amount before the taxes and fluids. My jaw dropped at the ridiculousness of this logic. That afternoon I called to pay by card over the phone as we wouldn't be able to arrive before they closed in order to pick the car up. That's when David tells me it's another 2% of the total bill to pay by card, so another ~$70. I was livid but needed the car. The next day I call to ask about them realigning the steering wheel as it was now several degrees off. David tells me he can farm the job out but they won't pay for it. A new alignment was never mentioned as part of the total bill or mentioned as an expectation. David is the worst sort of auto shop owner/operator. He doesn't communicate proactively, he's smug when he does, and he lies by omission. Never again. He also had the car for 8 days to perform a job we were told would take 3. read more

Did wiring on my friends 2012 Honda Fit 9 months ago, he came back with same car problems. You didn't know what was wrong with his car, said you couldn't fix it. He went to OnB off of Grand Ave in Everett, they asked about the previous job done (yours) and said a terrible job was done. Not cool to do a halfass job on someone's car and not own your poor quality. Apparently OnB is where it's at. They won't screw you with bad service. read more

This place should not be confused with Ed's transmission of Marysville, where they actually know what they are doing. Ed's in Everett is a shady business. They are probably best at doing minor simple repairs(basically part changers). If you have a transmission issue, don't take it here, take it to Ed's transmission Marysville as they are professionals and won't rip you off they actually know transmissions and are honest unlike Ed's Everett which should be just a simple automotive shop NOT a transmission shop and the owner or manager (Dave)is a shady lier that should be a used car salesmen. read more

He figured out what was wrong with my car in less than 5 minutes, gave me a very reasonable quote to get it fixed, and can do it tomorrow! Awesome! The guys over at Ed's transmission are nothing but a rip off. I will advice you guys to never do business with Ed's transmission. they are located on everett ave. they won't even get your approval and start to work on your car. And they tend to be verbal abusive, cursing and using street language to you if you decide not to let him fix your car anymore. read more

I called Eds and spoke to David about my car and the transmission problems it was having, he told Me to relax and get it in there whenever I could. I brought it in Thursday and he called me later in the day to let me know it was definitely a transmission issue and also told me the check engine light was more then likely a bad thermostat. He called me Tuesday to let me know the price, which was fair, and that the parts were on the way. By Thursday my car was fixed and good to go and it's running so good!! They even drained and replaced brake fluid for me for nothing. Definitely will be going back to Eds for future service and would recommend them. David and his crew know their stuff! Overall very happy with the service I received and would recommend. UPDATE: April 2 2018, had to take my car in for a check up on the transmission at 1000 miles, did that and by miscommunication my keys ended up locked in the glove box when I went to go pick up my car. David told me not to worry and to go get a new key made as my original was locked in the glove box and I had my valet key. Anyways got it open for 109.00 sent David the invoice and in just a couple days was issued a check for the full 109. Thanks for the honest business guys! read more

I had just purchase a car and it was leaking from the rear diff. I called around and others where giving quote way to high, called David and his price was half of everybody else. Said bring it in, so I had him change front and rear diffs and change trans fluid, and it was a little more than what it would have cost me to have just one of the jobs done and when I pick up my car the next day they even had the underside all cleanedup. I would recommend Eds Tranmisson to anybody ! Thank you guys at Eds you do great work, for a great price, and they do all kinds of work. I had a 4T60E transmission overhauled for my Pontiac minivan back in 2013. I religiously change the oil and filter every 16K miles, however I developed a shifting issue which led to failure after the warranty expired. During the repair, it was discovered that the incorrect application torque converter was installed, which if not for the frequent routine maintenance should have caused a failure much sooner. The application of the torque converter installed was to a smaller vehicle with a 1.6L to 2.5L 4 cylinder rather than my van with a 3.8L V6. It was also discovered that the valve body separator plate contained scratches from what appears to be caused by an abrasive to an area that now contained deep pitting corrosion which should have been replaced for the cost of, and my instruction regarding any hard parts the overhaul. read more

Store opened at 8:15 today, so I had to wait a while, not that big a deal. Just FYI if you are on a tight schedule. They drove my truck and said it didn't need much, just transmission service. Brakes and all else were OK. This is for an old Dodge Diesel I hardly ever drive. They seemed honest and service was pretty quick. A couple months later I came back with a broken suspension arm and brake issue. Old truck so they replaced the suspension arm with a used part, which seems to be good. Would have been nice if they would have cleaned and treated the rust on it before installing it. Must have been sitting in a junk yard for a while. They checked the brakes and determined those were ok. I told them that I had bad vibration when braking going down hill. The mechanic said I would need new rotors, the desk guy said I did not. Since I knew I had a brake issue I took it to Brakes For Less and they turned my warped rotors, said there was plenty of thickness left to do it so did not need replacement. They changed brake cables and rebuilt the brake drums. Now my brakes are great. Brakes for less did a great job. So, probably better to not use Ed's for brakes. Probably should have taken it to a suspension shop also. They don't do everything they say they do. Months passed and I noticed a fluid leak in the drive way. It's transmission fluid. The bolts in the transmission pan were loose. Something funny going on at Ed's. read more

This is for the EVERETT WA location... Think twice before taking your vehicles here! First of all, they said they would provide "free" service check ups and when we took in our first vehicle, they didn't charge us (we had the receipt to show this). 2 weeks later when we took the other vehicle, they charged us $140.04. My husband let them charge him and I caught it when he got home and asked about it. He pulled out the other receipt and he called them back the next day and the manager, Dave, at first said that they charge for that service. My husband said he'd just had our other vehicle in there and DIDN"T get charged so he reluctantly had to agree to refund us (we also had the original receipt from the purchase that showed this service was to be free!). He went back the beg. of Nov and got the refund. I went in the hospital a few days later unexpectedly and was there for 2 weeks, recouperating at home for months in immense pain and didn't balance our checkbook until Jan. When I finally did, I saw that when they refunded us in Nov, they refunded us twice then the beginning of Jan they went back in WITHOUT our permission and REcharged us TWICE again for that charge. When I called and started to explain this to Dave he cut me off going "Whoa whoa whoa! Just hold on there! *loudly* We never did that! it was allll your bank!" He proceeded to say he refused to deal with me and to have my husband call. I was in the middle of a store so I couldn't even raise my voice - he just didn't like that I could state the facts and that the facts were right! We filed a dispute through our bank and ended up not winning because it turned out it was a PIN based transaction (don't use debit card transactions in WA state folks!!!) so the bank won't refund the $$. We're in the process of going the the AG now. BUT when we pulled the original receipt we also saw the the yellow receipt the gave us and the charge machine receipt were actually TWO DIFFERNT charges and my husband never saw that! They ended up overcharging us originally by $106!!! This is one of the sleaziest companies we've ever dealt with! They took over $240 from us overall and he's rude on the phone as are the employees. He would hide from us, not take our calls, etc. Other Ed's Transmissions are aware of his reputation too. Just save yourself the hassle - go somewhere else!!! read more
