Has all the talent with out the pretentious vibe. I was worried when I booked my first appointment here because, as we all know, soooo many salons in the WoPo (Winter Park) area are super pretentious. For me, that makes me feel super uncomfortable. Not this place- I was welcomed as soon as I walked in and offered something. I was checked on repeatedly after waiting a bit, and all the stylists were in their own zone focused on their work. So many times in salons you can feel the tension and anticipate the gossip, not here. They either hid it well, or they actually just focus on clients. My particular stylist was Erin, and I can't say enough great things. I've never felt more beautiful and I can honestly say I've never had a better well suiting color/cut. She absolutely has natural talent. Hopefully she liked me, because I'm a lifer. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I visited Tara Weeks in December for bayalage and a haircut. I sat with her and discussed I wanted blonde highlights with my dark hair and showed pictures. I noted I have used black box dye in the past and she told me my hair would not get as light as I wanted in one trip but I could come back in a few weeks and go lighter if I wanted. She showed me some pictures from her Instagram of what it would look like that day. I asked her if it would be brassy and she said no and that I would be very happy with the color. I trusted her and we moved forward. 7 hours later (and nearly 2 hours after closing) we were done. While blow drying my hair (mind you, they wouldn't let me see it during the entire 7 hours) she quickly turned from come back in a few weeks to that I needed to come back the same week, as soon as possible. I agreed to come back in 3 days. Finally I was turned around to see my hair. The lights were nearly all off (as it was night time and well past closing) I could tell me hair color wasn't what we discussed it would look like that day, but it was dark and I hadn't eaten in 7 hours so I quickly paid and left. The bill came to nearly double what I was quoted on my booking. I understand that some things take more work and money, but I've never not had this discussed during consultation. I then asked the assistant (as Tara had left) if there was an additional charge for the next visit this week. She told me it would be another $200 (making my bill 3x what I was told) This however wasn't the real issue. When I got home and in the light I realized my hair was a brassy shade of ORANGE!!! I cried, a lot. It was just before Christmas, we had family pictures and events coming up. I slept on it and decided to look at it fresh in the morning. That morning I had an even bigger problem. My hair began falling out in chunks and snapping off at the slightest touch. I couldn't believe it and even more so that my stylist wanted to further bleach it in 3 days! I immediately reached out the salon via email. After a few days I received an email back and phone call. I called back and emailed back and the salon told me Tara was an independent contractor and I had to deal with Tara as it basically wasn't their problem. I attempted to work with Tara and the only resolution I was offered was to have her try and fix it. No way!! She gave me orange destroyed hair once. Since then I've been told by the salon via email that damage and brassy is expected with what I wanted. I'm not sure why I wasn't warned that my hair would be severely damaged if this is something that they knew would happen. I feel as though future customers should know that 1. If there is a problem, good luck getting a resolution. 2. Apparently damage is ok to happen. I'm shocked I wasn't told before beginning that my hair would look terrible when I left and that it would be so damaged I cannot blow dry, straighten or curl it. I will be posting photos of the severe damage and orange color and correspondence from the salon on @IGotEduced on Instagram for anyone that wants to see what was done to my hair and the lack of help from the salon. I honestly did not want to share my story (it's embarrassing) but no one was willing to help me. I just wanted my money back since my hair is so badly destroyed. I have had to spend several hundred dollars in conditioning treatments to try and save it and it is still breaking off mid shaft daily. I hope no one else has to go through this!! Edited to respond to owners continuous lie about trying to resolve the issue. I declined going back to Tara and was offering NO other resolution then to deal with her. The salon called ONCE and I returned their call and left a message and received no other calls. I was told via email that i had to deal with Tara. Good luck if you have a problem. The salon was notified immediately there was a problem. I understand it may be a costly procedure and have NO issue with that. My issue is that my hair was ORANGE when I left and is extremely damaged. It is falling out and breaks off in my hand to the touch. No I was not told my hair would fall out in chunks and your insane if you think she told me I would have orange hair right before the holidays and I somehow AGREED to that. Seriously no one believes that nonsense. Again, if you have an issue and a mistake is made, good luck. Buyer beware. read more

As a girl with extremely thick hair, every new experience at a salon is worthy of therapy and all of the complimentary wine they're willing to offer. What I mean by that is many stylists take a look at my head and get tired. It's really hard to find someone that will provide my curls with a decent cut and it's even harder to get color worth paying premium for because many people just don't want to do the work. Last month, I tried somewhere in Winter Garden, paid $420 dollars when all was said and done and I ended up with stringy highlights when I had asked for a full head of dimensional color. That's when I returned to my tried and true Educe salon where Dawn, who I've been going to for years, finished the job the other stylist failed to do. I was at Educe earlier this month where Dawn spent twice the amount of time the stylist in Winter Garden took to achieve the look I originally wanted and when all was said and done, I paid half the amount I was charged elsewhere. I'm so grateful I found this place. I'm even more grateful that Dawn is communicative, realistic, and always makes sure her clients leave satisfied. I initially booked a free consultation for cut/color with Kat, but she ended up texting me and we did my consultation that way. I personally appreciated and preferred that (saved me a trip!). Not that my past Salon experiences and stylists have been mediocre or just not great, the salons and stylists Ive frequented in NYC and Boston have been great. Its just that Phillip Rosado, the stylists, colorist, and assistants at Educe Salon are beyond great, they are top notch exceptional beyond being great and the absolute best I have ever experienced and I'll tell you why... I have what I consider very troublesome hair, very thin, fine and on top of that Ive never had great styling skills myself so I'd go get a cut, color at my salon leaving with great looking hair when they were done. The very next day, it already looked nothing like how it did when I left the salon and I could never get it to look that good on my own again. Phillip Rosado cut my hair in such a way as I've never had or seen. It looks great all the time, all by itself! I can keep it simple and just wash, condition, and air dry or take some time when I find it and do a blowout and styling, the way he took the time to teach me, and it looks amazing. Whichever way I choose to do my hair when I wash it, it also maintains the look for days on end, with only a brushing every day. He did such an amazing job on the best cut I've ever had, I've let it grow to a length Ive never been able to keep because my hair was so fine and thin. Phillip and his assistant took the time to teach me to style my hair the way they did and then teach me the right products that are perfect for my hair type and style. Next is color....absolutely amazing with bayalage, the most beautiful blonde I've ever had! Next is atmosphere...very modern, energetic, in vogue, and happy, friendly staff. Educe Salon, Phillip Rosado, the stylists, and the assistants are truly the best, I consider myself lucky to have found them! I think this place was meant for more than just haircuts. It's a community in itself that has pride and support for the community outside and around it. When I went in to get my haircut today my spirits were broken from some personal things and quite honestly I did not want a guy cutting my hair again because the last one that did at a different salon in Cali gave me blunt 70s bangs. But y'all... Wayne is every word that is synonym to amazing. He's polite, patient, knows what he's doing and what direction he's going on with your hair, and so comfortable to be around whether is conversation to fill the silence, or around a pair of cutting sheers. Faviola was so delicate with my hair wash that I actually noticed the care she was taking and I think that's something worth noting as a few different hair washes I've had in retrospect have been scrubbing hard and pulling hair. I feel dumb writing this but I actually cried when I saw my hair because Wayne freaking killed it. I've been slaying this hair all day today and probably will tomorrow too despite it being ruined by the rain at Halloween horror nights. Ask for Wayne and don't forget to refer me. I wish I could give Educe Salon more than 5 stars. Chelsea is truly a lifesaver. Last year I got awful highlights from a salon in Miami that cost me more than $500 (imagine chunky gray highlights - yikes). After that experience, a friend of mine referred me to Chelsea and I will never ever go elsewhere. My natural color is a very dark brown and I asked her for a blonde balayage - and she delivered. I literally get compliments on my color every day. The entire team is wonderful and professional. All of the assistants who have assisted Chelsea in either washing or blowdrying my hair have been fabulous. Got my hair balayage-d with Tara. Looks great, but she reshaped it into a lob without my permission when she said she was "cutting the tips." I hated the back being shorter than the front, so I called to get it fixed and the receptionist laughed when I said I was unhappy with my hair. Rude. Also denied me a refund even though I didn't want a reshape in the first place. Went back, got my hair fixed, realized EVERYONE there has a lob so they must assume everyone else wants one too?? Now that my hair is even again, it's much shorter than I ever wanted it to be and I had to cut off some of the highlights I paid so much for. $200 is far too much to spend on hair you're not completely happy with. Tara is really great at coloring hair -- just make sure you tell her exactly what hair shape you want if you're cutting it. Her assistant Nicole was awesome. I probably won't be back. read more

Edit in response to the salon's comment: Apple cider vinegar rinses are healthy and a natural remedy for many hair issues. This is the only salon I've been to that made me sign this type of waiver over it and that considers it an "extreme" treatment. I'm sure your right about the risk of interaction with the dye, but I encourage you to let your clients know about this before they make their appointment so they can decide prior to booking if they'e comfortable getting their hair colored knowing they will have to sign a waiver that releases the salon of any responsibility. Please, do send me the waiver. I would like to post it on this yelp review so clients can read it for themselves. Educe is not, by any means, a bad salon. The staff is pleasant. They offer you plenty to drink. I was mainly thrown off by that waiver (I really would appreciate a copy of it) and by the vibe of my colorist when I pushed back on a few things. It may be normal for people to drop $305 at your salon, but that is A LOT of money for the average person. Actually, the average person can't afford to spend that much on hair color. So if we're dropping that much money here, it's because we're doing something REALLY nice for ourselves, and there's a level of customer service people expect when spending that much. ______________________________________ Where to begin. There are so many things that throw me off about this salon: I have curly hair and have decided to wear it natural and never heat style. Instead of explaining why it needed to be heat styled prior to dying, the woman who colored my hair was visibly annoyed when I questioned why my hair had to be flat ironed before getting it highlighted. The thing that really made me decide this is not the place for me is when they made me sign a waiver releasing them of any responsibility (including not fixing my hair if it came out terrible) because I had used an EXTREME treatment on my hair in the last 6 weeks. Y'all ready to hear what the extreme treatment was? An APPLE CIDER VINEGAR RINSE! Can you believe? Rinsing you're hair with a mixture of a table spoon of apple cider and 8 cups of water is an extreme treatment according to this salon. I expressed my discomfort with this and since I wasn't going to get my hair blown out (because I'm wearing it natural), would they fix the color if it didn't come out the way I wanted? She made a snarky remark that that's why I should get my hair blown out before leaving the salon. I explained that in other salons the colorist encouraged me to let it air dry and come back to the salon if the color wasn't right. She had no response to that. Feeling extremely defeated, I told her I would go ahead and get it blown out (At this point I'm paying $300 for these highlights and I can't run the risk of not having them fix it if I leave the salon). I think she must have felt guilty because she then assured she would fix it if I didn't like the color once it air dried at home. I get the sense the colorists/stylists that work here get annoyed with clients that don't get all the trimmings (cut, blow out, curl, etc) and make the assumption we're being cheap. For the full highlights and bonding treatment (to protect the curls), plus tip, I paid $305. That's a lot of money. I'm not naming the colorist because she turned it around once she noticed how utterly depressed I was--and the color came out good. This was my second time getting my hair highlighted with her and I was looking forward to making her my go to colorist in Orlando. But I'm done giving my money to snooty salons and people who feel entitled to milk you for every penny, pressure you to get things done that you don't want/need and then treat you poorly for pushing back. read more

I've been going to Chelsea for about a year and a half after nearly a decade of using boxed red dye, bleach, and Manic Panic. While it can be costly, you pay for what you get and let me tell you, I never leave that salon feeling less than 110% about my hair. In fact, I carry around a stack of Educe cards because I get SO MANY complements on my hair. I'm currently in a vivids faze with dark blue roots and teal ends, and with the right care I've only had to have one touch-up in three months. I came from boxed reds, to IONA reds, to a completely different primary color using Pravana and my hair has barely had to suffer any damage. Any damage it did go through is long gone from awesome cuts and conditioning treatments. While my love for Chelsea and her work is endless, the talent at Educe does not stop there. I've sat and watched many stylists in this family come up with some classy, crazy, and chic do's; I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tinged green with envy every once in a while. This salon truly is a family from the owners to the receptionists, and they treat their clients as such. The atmosphere can get a little crazy, but that's what I love about Educe. I love this salon. It's so chic and modern and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Phillip, the owner, is such a great individual and he has built an amazing establishment. I've learned that the staff at Educe is constantly learning new tricks and techniques in order to better serve their clients and give them the best hair possible! Every time I walk in, whoever is at the front desks greets me and offers me a beverage. This place really cares about their clients and wants to make sure all clients are comfortable and happy. As far as specific hairstylists, I've only seen Mark Rodriguez. He is SPECTACULAR and has been deemed my new, permanent hairstylist. I'm very nitpick-y about who touches my hair and who cuts my hair. I went into Educe for the first time with virgin hair, wanting subtle, natural-looking balayage highlights. Mark was available, so I booked my appointment with him. I asked the gentleman who answered the phone if Mark had an online portfolio that I could look at before booking my appointment. He gave me Mark's Instagram page (@yourwayhair) and I was sold! Mark listened patiently while I explained to him what I wanted. I showed him several different balayage pictures that I found on Pinterest with ideas and he gave me insightful advice about which would be the healthier option and which one I would be most comfortable with since I had never dyed my hair and was reluctant to make a huge change. Mark also gave me an amazing hair cut. He used a technique I had never seen before which made me a little frightened, but to be honest, it ended up being the best haircut of my life-- he cut my hair with a razor blade! Mark is also very friendly and sociable. There was no awkward small talk like you experience with some hairstylists. It was as if Mark and I had been friends for years lol. He has good people skills. I've, since then, been to Educe a second time for a trim and more highlights. My second appointment was as fantastic as the first. And I have my third appointment already scheduled with Mark. Absolutely loved this place and how they transformed my hair! Before I even set foot into their salon, Yanni was such a great help! I found her on Instagram and sent her a picture of my hair letting her know my current struggles with it and what I want. She was very helpful. So of course I had to book my haircut appointment with her! Upon entering, the staff there was very friendly and inviting. Yanni talked me through what she would do with my hair before she began cutting. And did she do an AMAZING job on it! Beyond that, I told Yanni how I would love to style my hair but beyond straightening, I have no idea how to. So after cutting my hair, she showed me how to properly blow dry my hair. After that she was kind enough to wave my hair and teach me how to do that as well. She never pushed products on me, but was ready to give me some recommendations when asked. Its always hard to review a salon where stylists rent their own chairs and basically run their own business so I'll just keep this to the storefront and general musings. The place is very clean and the layout is easy and open. Its a real nice place to go and the products they sell are reasonably priced for a salon. All of the people who work there are very good at what they do and very professional. There are about 3 parking spaces in the back but street parking is easiest. read more

Morgan... let me tell you Morgan Ford Is the master of hair. Her creativity never fails to amaze me, I trust her with my hair more then I have ever trusted ANYONE. I can spent the whole day at the salon, Morgan is so kind and funny..I'm entertained for hours. I come out every time looking like a different person! I went from damaged orange hair to healthy and strong hair. Everyone at educe has so much respect for their clients, I have recommend so many friends to Morgan and they all love her. It was time a for a change and I decided, based on what I read on Yelp, to schedule an appointment with Yanni. I wasn't disappointed! She knows her craft and explained what she was doing every step of the way and she was thorough with the consultation (and actually listened!). She also offered suggestions, some of which I didn't want to go with and rather than get annoyed or do what she really wanted anyway, she instead worked with what I wanted and offered suggestions based on that (of which I did take her up on). She was also friendly so I felt at ease talking to her, something that is important if I am going to be camped out in a salon chair for a while. She did an excellent job with both cut and color and for the first time in a long time, my scalp wasn't burning during the process. I look forward to working more with her and getting into some crazy colors. read more
