I'm a new gun owner and Recently stopped by this shop. Sooo glad I did. Great customer service was…read moreable to purchase the hand gun I wanted to see. Salesman was polite and answered ALL my questions. Had been to a couple other popular shops in Scottsdale just to get no assistance or not be waited on at all. Waited almost 30 minutes at one shop, they weren't busy, to ask some questions. I'm now told that is normal in Scottsdale. I Will Definitely drive Back to Tempe for all my Future gun and ammo supplies

As an employee of an organization that gets much criticism and many daily customer complaints, I…read moreunderstand that you cannot make everyone happy all the time, I also understand the difference between valid complaints and ones who are complainers. Sometimes you just have to pass over the complainers and say have a nice day, please come back and see us again! The ones with valid complaints, I always feel a responsibility to fix the problem that they are experiencing, or at least make it up to them. I say this because of what I experienced at the Tempe store. I had a great experience with purchasing guns, but the day before I took my son to the range, I thought I would go online and order ammunition so that I didn't go into the store and find out they were sold out. I gave it several hours, then called to make sure my order was put together, but was told online orders are filled by the manufacturer, then shipped to the store. I wasn't happy, but I was going to the range, so I made a visit to the store and purchased ammo that was in stock. My bad experience came two weeks later when I was going on a business trip, and still had not received the promised email stating that my order was ready. My online order was 5/22/3026. I never received the promised email, but finally received a phone call on 6/26/2026 that told me I could pick up the order. Strike one was taking over a month to receive ammo that is most likely always on the shelf for in-store purchase. Strike two happened when I picked up the order 7/01/2026, asked if an entire month was a normal timeframe for online ammo orders to be filled, and was told it depends. No apologies for the massive inconvenience, no effort to make up for any disatisfaction, just an answer that blew off any concerns. Please do better for the next guy. When a customer has questions about firearms, the store seems to be very accommodating, but get the online logistics in check without acting so matter of fact when customers are dissatisfied.

We previously have purchased firearms from AlphaDog, as well as had their gunsmith work on a family members gun. All of our previous visits we had great experiences. However when my mother and I went in, we weren't acknowledged at all. We thought it was no problem, the guys behind the counter seemed to be talking to other customers. So we looked through the gun case and waited for them to finish up. One finished helping a customer in front of us, and was fidgeting with things behind the counter. We thought maybe he thought we were just browsing, so we walked over to the register line. He looked at us and walked away to the other side of the room without saying anything. So we waited a bit longer, and stood by the register for a good 5 minutes while the other employee chatted with another guy about a shooting competition or something like that. We weren't in any rush, and didn't think it was a big deal. We figured they were just busy finishing up previous orders/interactions and didn't interrupt. But as we were waiting, two younger teenage boys walked into the store and were immediately greeted and asked if they'd like to see anything off the wall or in the case. The employee who had walked away then handed them a rifle and started to discuss the firearms with them. My mom and I looked at each other and were wondering what was going on. It was weird to feel like you were invisible in a place where you have spent money before, and were actively hoping to spend more. Eventually the gentlemen who was chatting about a competition looked over and saw we hadn't been helped and answered some questions. He was really nice, but we were so off put by the interaction that we decided to purchase my firearm from somewhere else. As we were leaving the other employee finally seemed to realize we existed and said "goodbye!" as we left, which just drove the nail a little bit deeper. I understand that women aren't typically taken seriously in this hobby, but to experience being completely ignored first hand was a shock I have never dealt with before. When we were with a man this was never a problem, so we are assuming that was the issue. Weird experience, definitely won't be returning.

I bought a beautiful High Power clone for $200 less than Sportsman's and it's incredible. If you see a bad review, assume they got caught trying to break federal laws, such as buying a gun for someone else. They are a different kind of store. They let you touch and try out all the guns and if you need help, ask. They love dogs, are great to their customers and they have me as a customer for life. 4 years ago I called AmmoAz about their upcoming sale and an AR15 that they were losing money on. The owner spent 20 minutes explaining my options and talking to me about the gun. He earned a customer for life. I have since bought several "items" all for MUCH less than anywhere else. I have brought my dogs, even my Dane and have always had a great experience and gotten the best prices. The store's app with up to date ammo availability and pricing is just another bonus. To sum it up, my 15 year old daughter asked me when she could apply to work there. Great store. Great people. Great selec
