I was sadly upset with my experience with this well known business. I asked for a quote to have a front door digital lock rekeyed and secondarily, the backdoor lock rekeyed to match. As requested, I provided pictures of both locks and was told that it could be done and what the approximate charge would be. There was no "provided that . . ." when I was told that the rekeying was doable. For reasons unknown, the technician started with the backdoor lock. After removing the deadbolt, which left me with a hole in the door, he said the deadbolt was frozen and would need to be replaced. Once that was done, he proceeded to the primary job, spent at least an hour outside, and then announced he also couldn't rekey that lock without installing a different lever because the lock's springs were weak (lock in use less than a year). I ended up spending over $250 more than I expected. I sent a letter to the owner about the situation, asking for nothing more than deducting the cost of half an hour of labor from the bill. When I hadn't gotten a response over ten days after mailing the letter, I called to follow up. The owner didn't have the courtesy to call me back. This is why people buy locks from big box stores and DIY or have a handyman install them. Lesson learned. read more

Our front door lock was installed during the construction of our home in the late 1970s. The manufacturer of the lock system went out of business ten years ago. In the process of a double door transformation we sought to replace the lock system. The gentleman who took care of us was made aware of our budget. To have transformed the system would cost upwards of $700-$800 in addition tho carpentry modifications to our door. He suggested I return to the store with all lock components. I brought all the components of our lock and he was able to segregate components that could be replaced, those he could clean and the ones that could be reinstalled. Thus he saved us hundreds of dollars and the aesthetics of our door were not compromised. Thank you so much for your honesty and efficiency. read more

My company was evicting a tenant from a property we own. We called Edward C Mangione Locksmith and they seemed to be knowledgeable about the process. I asked for pricing over the phone and was told it would be $95 for them to come out and $30 per cylinder changed. I made sure to ask if service was separate and they said it was included in the $95 price, that the tech would give me a price before doing any work. The day of the eviction, they showed up 10 minutes late, which was fine. The guy got to work, not giving me any quotes until the end. When I saw the bill to change 3 locks was nearly $300! I was shocked. That was basically $100 per lock. I asked the technician who explained that some of these locks were over $50 (none of them were $30, they ranged from $39/lock-$55/lock) and on top of the $95 charge, we were charged an additional $40 labor fee. They did good work, but I don't like to be lied to. I asked the cost up front and was told a flat rate number only to be surprised with over $100 in additional cost. We called to share our experience hoping for some sort of compensation after being told one price and getting another. We were told "there is nothing we can do, that is the cost." If they had been honest up front or were understanding about their mistake after we called, I would consider using them again, but I will not be thanks to their false advertising. Make sure you clarify the cost of a job before using these guys and get it in writing. Doing business in this way is downright scummy. I'd be surprised if they have any repeat customers. read more

With the almost one dozen different vendors we have used in purchasing our new to us home, this was by far the best experience of any. I called with a non-emergency lock issue and they were at the house less than two hours later. Not only fixed the lock but the track the door was on which always gave us issues and paired the front door, which we previously were unable to unlock from the outside, with the lock to the back door so we now just need the one key for both locks. I recently hired them to replace a deadbolt on my front door. I asked to be able to use my old key in the new lock and they said no problem. Later, I discovered that only some of the keys work in the new deadbolt even though before they all worked in the previous deadbolt. . Their prices are very high, workmanship shoddy and terrible customer service. read more

I just paid $420 for a 35 min. deadbolt replacement!! Apparently I was nickeled and dimed. $75 for deadbolt. Oh, $75 for handle. And, $6 per key. And $95 to DRIVE to my house. Plus, $135 per hour for labor. I will never recommend this company to anyone! They should be ashamed to charge this ungodly amount of money to change a lock. read more

I've used Mangione Locksmiths on several occasions and they are the best! They helped me open an old firebox/small safe that had in college and lost the key to (15 years ago!) at their shop. In their shop they sell many different kinds of safes and locking cabinets with security features. They also deliver. I've used them to rekey at 2 properties on multiple occasions with different types of locks, some very old and some very new with smaller locks. These guys know their locks! Terrific customer service! Had to get a replacement key fob. I emailed them the information and within 10 minutes on a Friday night I got a reply, and questions and answers back and forth. Nick called the next morning, and placed the order. When the key got hung-up out there in "delivery systems world", he promptly notified me and even sent the tracking number for me to follow the delivery. As soon as he finally got it in, he contacted us and we were very promptly serviced. He thoroughly made sure the new key was programmed and working properly and we were on our way! I will say also, during this COVID-19 pandemic, I tried to contact many other locksmiths prior to reaching Nick and I was met with not even so much as a return phone call or return email! Terrible service and treat their customer as rip off target. What happened: I got locked out of my house and I called them to unlock my door and potentially change the lock for me. The locksmith arrived, unlocked the door. That costed me $95 dollars. Here is the rip off show starts: for changing the lock, the locksmith told me will be $25. After a few minutes, he told me the lock has two sides (but it is still one lock, and uses 1 key), each side they charge $25 (total of $50). Since he was already at the door, I agreed. After another 5 minutes, the locksmith told me that he stripped one of screw in the lock and needed to cut the lock. Since a new lock will be installed, I said OK. He then told me that he can't do that for free and he needed to charge me for an additional $60 for the time to cut the lock. Really? I pay you for the service of changing my lock, with the 2-side lock double price, you messed up and stripped my lock, now you ask me to pay for the additional time to fix your mistake? I did not agree to that non-sense and asked to speak to his manager, his manager talk to me like "you don't know shit, and yes this is how much we will charge you!". Eventually, I paid them the $95 dollars, for them unlocking my door and ask the locksmith to put back whatever he has dismantled and leave. After he left, I found out the lock does not work as well as before. It's very hard to lock and unlock with the key. read more
