He seems lackadaisical, unconcerned and has a questionable work ethic. He parked his vehicle around the corner when there was ample parking in front of my house, he took his time walking back and forth to his vehicle. He charged me for 60 minutes of his time to do what in my opinion, should have taken 30 min. He must have spent 30 minutes in his truck I guess because he only spent about 30 MAX in my house. His work was ok, I had to ask him to tighten the door handles after he changed the main entrance door lock cylinder, which seems to me he would have done so without being asked. I won't be calling this company again, not if this guy is their representative I have no confidence in him. The bill included: SCR $200, for which he wrote "plus labor for outer door mortise lock..." (he did not provide a break-out of what he spent his time doing); He then listed "Change combination Lock cylinder $20.00", "Progressive Split Spindle $18.92" plus 8% in taxes; the total invoice was $258.03. I feel like the work he did could have been done faster and far less expensive. I'll call another company the next time.

For months, I was dealing with a zone that was suffering from voltage spikes and producing false alarms left and right. I called my monitoring company to do repairs. First, they sent someone out to replace a contact (even though that was clearly not the issue) and billed me for hours of troubleshooting, then I was stuck calling back in countless times trying to reach the "right" person to resolve my issue - all while having 2 to 3 false alarms per day! Finally, I got fed up and called Catskill Security Systems. I called them and - boom - got a service appointment the very next day. Joe came out and diagnosed my rather complex issue with ease. After an hour or so, my system was back online and not a false alarm since. Thank you Joe!! I can't emphasize enough just how much more knowledgeable and professional this team is compared to other security companies in the area. I have a background in electronics and software engineering, so it's hard to bullshit someone like me when it comes to fixing low voltage circuits. In June, I contacted Doyle to expand my home security system so my property would comply with requirements for rental use. What should have been a relatively straightforward project has now stretched across nearly three months, involving repeated follow-ups, installation problems, equipment failure, missing documentation, and poor communication. The initial installation was delayed, and when the technician finally arrived, I was told I had been sold the wrong products. After additional follow-up on my part, the system was eventually completed in August -- only for the equipment to fail shortly afterward. I also repeatedly requested an inspection report that I never received. Most concerning, my father later noticed that fire alarms appeared to have been installed incorrectly, approximately 1.5 inches from the walls in a corner. When I raised this with Doyle, I was told the installation was likely incorrect and that someone would contact me to schedule a technician. No one called. I followed up again and was eventually told that an appointment had been scheduled for September 3 -- without anyone contacting me to confirm that the date worked. I rearranged my schedule accordingly. September 3 came and went. No one showed up. Throughout this process, I have repeatedly had to initiate contact, follow up on unanswered emails, identify potential installation problems myself, and push the project to the next step. Any one of these issues would be understandable. Products fail. Scheduling mistakes happen. People miss emails. It is the accumulation of problems -- and the apparent lack of ownership when they occur -- that has been so disappointing. Security and fire protection are industries fundamentally built on trust and reliability. After this experience, I wrote directly to Doyle's owner. I shared the full timeline privately and respectfully. I specifically explained that I wasn't asking him to intervene unless the September 3 appointment fell through, but that I thought he would want to know how far my experience had fallen from what I assumed his company intended to deliver. The appointment did fall through. He never responded. I don't enjoy leaving a negative review, particularly for a local business, and I made a genuine effort to address this privately first. But after nearly three months, numerous follow-ups, an installation that Doyle itself acknowledged may have been done incorrectly, a missed service appointment, and no response from the owner, I think prospective customers deserve to know about my experience. I sincerely hope Doyle takes this feedback seriously. There are clearly good people working there, but my experience has revealed significant problems with communication, follow-through, quality control, and accountability -- particularly troubling qualities for a company entrusted with the security and safety of someone's home.

I just moved to Saratoga. This morning, as I came back from a weekend away, I was thinking "gee, I…read moreought to hide a key somewhere, in case I get locked out." We'll, as we're unpacking the car, one of my kids pulled the door shut, and poof, we were locked out! I went across the street to a neighbor's, and she got out the phone book. It was lunchtime, and I told them what happened. They said they could have somebody there in 20 minutes, perhaps. My son and I sat on the porch, and their truck drove up in under 10 minutes. They were not able to open my door lock, so they had to drill out the old lock cylinder and replace it. They told me they had a minimum fee for a lock out and as he was drilling, I was thinking - this will cost me extra. He had replaced the lock in under 20 minutes, and even gave me 4 keys for my new lock and then charged me just their minimum. I would definitely recommend them anytime you need a locksmith.
