These guys are the real deal…read more I have my security system managed by a bigger (but not better) competitor in the area and have had nothing but trouble. For months, I was dealing with a zone that was suffering from voltage spikes and producing false alarms left and right. I called my monitoring company to do repairs. First, they sent someone out to replace a contact (even though that was clearly not the issue) and billed me for hours of troubleshooting, then I was stuck calling back in countless times trying to reach the "right" person to resolve my issue - all while having 2 to 3 false alarms per day! Finally, I got fed up and called Catskill Security Systems. I called them and - boom - got a service appointment the very next day. Joe came out and diagnosed my rather complex issue with ease. After an hour or so, my system was back online and not a false alarm since. Thank you Joe!! I can't emphasize enough just how much more knowledgeable and professional this team is compared to other security companies in the area. I have a background in electronics and software engineering, so it's hard to bullshit someone like me when it comes to fixing low voltage circuits. I am always impressed and satisfied by the skills and knowledge that this company has. Going forward, I won't trust my security system with anyone other than Catskill Security Systems!

The person I talked to was very helpful. He showed me a couple of televisions that would work but one was way more expensive than I needed (his words actually) and the other was so basic that various apps couldn't be installed onto it. He apologized but couldn't recommend spending a lot on a tv here when a cheap Asian import at Walmart would work a lot better. I appreciated his honesty and advice. If I need a really nice television, I will trust the people here.

It has worked pretty well for most of the 2 years, but the last 6 months have not been good. 3 false alarms due to flapping sensors, and lots of sensors going off-line for periods because the batteries die without warning. The base unit seems very sensitive to power spikes too, 3 have died on me in 2 years, even with them behind battery backup and power conditioners. LifeShield's customer support is awesome, and they ship replacements very quickly. However, if the core system can't be relied upon, I am going to have to look elsewhere before the local police end up hating me forever. Caveat: I haven't had any other alarm system, so 3 false alarms in 6 months might not be that bad!

I had no choice but to cancel and the "Account Specialist" and other employees gave us a complete run around for over two months. They wouldn't refund us the money for the equipment even though they sent us a return label and received the product back. They stole hundreds of dollars from us. Their attempts at giving us the run around so as to avoid a refund worked because I have given up.

The customer service person I spoke to misled me as far as whether it would be ok for my husband to be present during the installation instead of me. It wasn't, and that led to problems that needed to be resolved and the whole system needed to be rebilled to my husbands credit card instead of mine. I wasn't told ahead of time that not all of the equipment promised would be delivered due to a lack of availability and it's taken over double the four weeks that I was told to deliver and install the missing doorbell cam. Hopefully they will show up to install that and move the panel to the location that I had specified for it to be located in the first place. They're all very polite but none of them tell the truth. I would advise anyone to be very skeptical of any promises made by Vivint employees from the sales reps on down the line to the installers. As far as I'm concerned they are all very polite liars.
