I'm a little miffed! Had Edward out to repair my Whirlpool Gold refrigerator that wasn't cooling. He replaced the compressor after putting me a rate of 317. I told him that I might as well just buy a new fridge and he said that the repair was worth it because a new fridge is $.1,000. Less than a year later, the fridge and freezer stopped getting cold And I had to buy a new fridge. This time I hired an honest person to fix it and they clearly told me to go buy a new fridge, which I did. A brand new Whirlpool only ran me $450. Edward showed up at 6 pm (SAME DAY) and diagnosed the issue in minutes. We then Asked him about a washer and dryer install and he said, "sure no problem." All this work for a very fair price. Thank you Edward! As most of us know, it is awful when one of our appliances goes out. We start imagining having to buy a new appliance or having to pay for costly repairs. I was told a years ago by one repairman that most people choose to just buy a new appliance rather than fix their old one, and that's why he had to charge $80 for a service call. So when my old dryer stopped heating, I was torn between calling a repairman or just buying a new washer and dryer. Since I don't know of any appliance repair places off hand, I decided to look on Yelp for businesses in my area. I narrowed it down to two places based on the reviews. Both places had good and bad reviews so I wasn't completely sold on either place. I called and one place told me $85 to come out and the other place was $120. I had a feeling that was the going rate, but the thought of paying around $100 when I might decide against the repair made me hesitate. As I pondered my dilemma, my friend tells me that her dishwasher went out and that she called Edward because she had called around too and he had the lowest service call price of $35. Wow $35!!?? That's like 1/3 of everyone else's price! It was totally worth paying $35 to find out if my dryer was trash or not! So I make an appointment with Edward and he gives me a window of time of between 10 and 12. That morning I called just to see if he had a better idea if it would be closer to 10 or 12, and he says 12 which was great because i had other things to do. Edward showed up just before noon as promised. Within a couple of minutes he says he knows what's wrong, has the part, and can fix it for $140, and that's including the service call! He says my dryer is an oldie but a goodie and is totally worth fixing! Yay! Before fixing my dryer, Edward explained that the heating mechanism probably went out because my dryer vent is clogged. He turned on my dryer and took me outside to show me that no air was blowing through the vent like it's supposed to. He told me that I needed to have someone come and clean the vent otherwise the drying mechanism will go out again. Who knew!! Within half an hour Edward was finished and my dryer was working! Needed a repair person for my Bosch dishwasher. Bosch's soonest appt was Wed but Edwards was the same day. Plus his initial call rate was $35 vs Bosch's $99. Edward came out and fixed the dishwasher in about 20 minutes. It was more than I wanted to pay considering it was a faulty cord ground wire but he did run within his 2 hour time frame. Due to the Yelp reviews about timeliness, I did continue to call each 45 minutes to ensure he was still heading my way. Called for a Bosch refrigerator repair. He said he could work on Bosch. He shows up, stays for five minutes, says he will check on cost of parts, collects $49 and leaves. Didn't hear back so I called him two days later. He said it needs two parts that cost $700, and that doesn't include his labor. I called Bosch, they sent an authorized repair technician that charged 1/3 of his estimate. This guy was obviously just there to collect $49. I was amazed to find out my daughter in Redondo Beach had the exact same issue with this guy. He was sent to her by a referral service. She complained to the referral service and got her money back. read more

I have not had the experience of Edward's servicing my appliances, but the service I received when I called for a quote was superb! I called regarding my 20 year old washing machine. When I explained the problems I was having Edward was completely honest with me and told me that it was a bearing issue which would cost me around $400. Basically that it was the beginning of the end for my washer, and agreed I'm better off just replacing the machine. My lovely dryer broke - started making a weird chugging noise, like it was trying to take off. It's an older model, and I adore it. I called Edward's, as they had been out once before and I remembered them being great. Kevin came out and told me my motor needed replacing. fine. he would order it and come back and install it. fine. he did so - but then the drying stopped drying clothes. While the weird thunking noise had stopped, my beloved dryer was no longer drying. I called Edwards. it was Saturday morning. they told me they only worked till noon on Saturday, but if they couldn't make it then, they would be out at 9 :00 on Monday. ok. I sat home all of Saturday morning, waiting, just in case someone came by. With my two kids, who we'll call Cranky and Tired. No one. at noon we take off for the library and grocery store, only to be back home the remainder of the day. Monday morning, 9 am comes and goes. Still no word. So around 10;30 on Monday, I call Edwards, again. I speak with a manager? Owner? who says that he'll have "Michael" contact me. Michael did indeed contact me, leaving an extraordinarily rude and aggressive voicemail message. that he had sent someone out on Saturday, and where had I been? [mind you, no one called me on Saturday to say they were coming, no one left a note on my door or in my mailbox, and nobody called me after to try and reschedule. In other words: I didn't know and had no way of knowing] He went on the holler that his "guy" had been there at 8 am sharp! and where had I been?! Um, I had been taking my son to elementary school. LAUSD starts at 8 am. That's why I agreed to the 9 0'clock appointment - because it allowed me time to get the boy (aka Cranky) to school. I would never have done so otherwise. also, again, no phone, no call, no note... nothing. Kevin, our original repair person from 2 paragraphs ago, came by Monday night. It was late (past 5 - 6 ish?) Kevin at least called 30 minutes prior to let me know he was coming. But all Keven did was run my dryer for 10 minutes. Then he stopped it. He turned to me. And sweet Kevin stated: "You see, it runs." "Yes. I agree it runs. I never said it wasn't running" then sweet Kevin slammed both of his hands, palms down, onto the top of the dryer. "you see, it's warm" and then that precious gem of a man marched out my side door, turned to me, rolled his eyes at me, and said "you see, nothing wrong." and he left. Setting aside the aggression, the act of assault, the fear instilled, my sudden awareness that I was alone in my home with my young children and a suddenly angry man. (Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?) I still had a broken dryer. I called another local company. A very lovely gentleman arrived. He texted me before he arrived. He identified the problem and explained it to me. He fixed the problem. He did not roll his eyes at me.. [Epilogue: called Edwards to lodge a complaint with Edward himself, who told me he wished he could help me personally, he really did. and he understood why I was frustrated, seeing as I paid them $200 or more. He would have his best man get back to me. I've heard nothing to date.] So I guess if you like to be patronized, ignored, intimidated and still not have a working appliance, I would definitely go with Edwards. Edward is a pro! Here's my story: Fridge broke about a week before Superbowl Sunday. We had a repair guy from another company come over first, and he told us the compressor was busted and told us to buy a new OEM compressor. We did, it was overpriced, and then when we called him back to come and install it that guy bailed! That guy did not show up to an appointment, stopped answering phone calls or texts, etc. We were then stuck, because nobody else we called agreed to install a "customer-bought part". Finally, my landlord found Edward, and he came to the rescue. He showed up on superbowl Sunday, was exactly on time, and was extremely pleasant and professional. He immediately diagnosed the problem. It turns out we didn't even need a new compressor! It was just the starter to the compressor that was broken. Had Edward out to repair my Sub Zero, the refrigerator side wasn't cooling. He replaced the switch that activates the compressor and the thing was ice cold again. While here he also noticed that my condenser fan wasn't spinning well and said it would need replacement soon. An hour after he left I noticed that the freezer was now warm, he said that fan probably wasn't spinning fast enough to cool both sides so he ordered me a new fan and I installed a temporary unit. Came back and installed the new fan and now both sides are perfect. Edward is very knowledgeable and honest, I will be using him for all my appliance repairs plus recommend him to my friends. My dishwasher stopped working and had an error code. I called another place who sais that they would "research and look into the error code and would give me a call to come out and fix it". 2 days later and still did not hear back. So I looked up Yelp and found Edward. Called Edward on Fri afternoon and he was able to come check the appliance Monday afternoon. Within 30 seconds, he knew exactly what the problem was, what he needs to do to fix it. Upon my agreement on the cost, he fixed it and got it working within 30 min.
