I have so many appliance stories I could tell and too many for different home located at the beach cities . Had gas dryer break down last August. Wanting to deal with a local business I called Appliance Guard who dispatched a technician from the San Fernando valley! My bill was $430 to replace the belt, rollers and idler pulley. Value? Anyway, fast forward six months (now). Dryer broke again and I called the company to discuss the issue. First call went to voicemail. No return call. Second call days later was answered by office manager who said she would consult with the business owner and get back to me. Again, no return call. My dryer is still broken. It appears the problem is only a broken or displaced belt. I'm not accusing the company of faulty work but for what I was charged I expected better custome service. Called Appliance Guard on the advice of my realtor for an oven in an apartment a late relative owned. They give you a three hour window when to expect the technician and he came within the window and called before he came. Ivan is a nice, young man who looked at the oven. Fortunately, it was an easy fix and the igniter had to be replaced. Unfortunately, Ivan had to order the part and we made arrangements for installation in two days. Again, I was given a 3 hour window and Ivan called within the window. He got it installed and turned on the oven to show it was repaired. It was finished quickly and we were both on our way. Service invoice dated 8/31: paid in full as was promised they'd return next day to complete servicing the dryer (he only reset thermostat because it wasn't getting hot) ie: cleaning out the lint from the drum and vent. As well as replacing the front loading washer Gasket that I ordered and was to be delivered when they returned. They forgot about me. It took 3 weeks for them to return. Absolutely no communication between workers as someone told me they were still waiting for the washer gasket... which I told them several times I already had. The day scheduled, they missed their 3 hour appointment window and messaged me on the 4th hour that they would arrive soon. I was unavailable Following day 10/4/2024 Windows was 1pm-4pm. He arrived around 2:45 Replaced the washer Gasket, but the washer was still leaking. Tech said that it wasn't from the Gasket it was another part, which would have been fine if I had not found extra screws after he left. Not sure if they're from the washer or dryer, I didn't watch him take it apart. Also said he didn't have time to finish service on the dryer, I'd need to call their office and schedule another appointment. He left at 4pm, still at the end of their arrival window, but he didn't have time... I called their office immediately after he left, lady said they'd get back to me, 2 days later still no calls. Invoice paid: 200$ Never again. I thought hiring someone would be more convenient than taking things apart myself, I was wrong. read more

Our Maytag washer was turning on the locking mechanism didn't engage. I called the local company after reading what looked like a reasonable number of good and legit reviews. Here's what worked well and what their opportunities are: Let's start with what worked well: 1) The repair worked. Ultimately, that's a relief. 2) Ivan, the repair guy, was courteous. He diagnosed the issue on the first go around. Although, I figure he's fairly new to the appliance repair game as he was telling me he figured out it was a capacitor issue since he worked on another Maytag a few months earlier with a similar issue, but it was only after swapping out multiple parts (engine, control board, etc) which didn't work, did he finally swap out the capacitor and voila it worked. So, another customer's misfortune that probably cost a fortune, was to my benefit. 3) They kept to their promise of honoring the 25% off service fees which was advertised on Yelp. What are their opportunities for improvement: 1) The dispatcher thought the discount was 20%, and I would characterize her as maybe slightly argumentative when I told her it was 25%. Maybe there is an opportunity for the owner to update everyone. Ultimately, she said she'd relay a message to the owner about what I said. 2) The repair guy still only took 20% off (my wife was there at the time and didn't notice). Another opportunity to educate employees on what is being advertised? Maybe. 3) After calling the company back and leaving a message, I received a text message saying that I was right about the discount and that they'd take care of it when charging the second part to close out the bill. Which ultimately they did. 4) The service technician was aware of this conversation but still didn't adjust the bill until I called him out on it and he made the change. I don't know if that's laziness, shadiness, or an honest oopsy. I'll give the repair guy the benefit of the doubt and say it was an oopsy since he didn't give any pushback. 5) They were late for their 3 hour window the first visit. (They showed up within their window the second time). Not a big deal, but they should proactively update customers if they are going to be late. 6) We were told they would return one day but didn't. I contacted the company and they said "they didn't have the part yet." I think they should proactively update the customer of any delays. 7) The Yelp blurb said they have a $55 service fee but I was quoted $85. I didn't notice this until I was writing the review. They need to update their Yelp blurb or start educating their employees. Bottom line: would I immediately call them the next time an appliance goes on the fritz? I don't know. Ultimately, the problem was fixed. The technician was nice. Would other competitors have the same issue? Probably. I guess if I needed a service, I'd reread the reviews and go with my gut. read more

Appliance Guard has been keeping my 25 year old SubZero going - when other companies/techs would have just been like buy a new one or we don't fix something that old. Everything from the ice maker to the freezer defroster/heater to taking the time to find hinge replacements for one of the doors. Good quality appliances are hard to find, and so many these days are just disposable, so I very much appreciate their time and attention to helping me keep it going and not just be wasteful in buying a new one when it can be fixed. They are also very prompt with service calls. And, yes, the prices may not be the least expensive - but you get what you pay for in terms of expertise and professionalism and they will make sure it is done right the first time! read more

Professional and courteous. But .... Came to our home 3x to fix our washer, and we paid close to $500. They waived the 2nd and 3rd visits. My gripe is that they should have recommended against repairs and instead should have suggested buying a new washer. After few months, the washer is still giving us headaches, so we decided to buy a new one. Lesson learned. If repairs are going to cost $300 or more, just buy a new washer. read more

So my LG broke down after 10+ years and I needed a new fridge essentially. The cooling unit was kaput. Boris came down and gave me my options and yes I could have gotten a new fridge but I like this fridge, it fits a limited space in my kitchen and I didn't want to go out and go through the hassle of finding one to fit this space and wait for the delivery of a new one in the middle of summer. So I bit the bullet and paid for convenience. Boris fixed it same day, needed 2 days to make sure the new compressor was working, but overall, satisfied. Turns out we need to replace the machine and rather than charge for an expensive repair that will likely occur more than once, he was upfront about a replacement at the get go. The washing machine is in our guest house where lately we have had tenants so I thought while we had his attention we asked him to spot check the dryer and stove too. A couple of tweaks here and there and we're good for now but the previous tenants were a little hard on the appliances so we will likely need to replace the stove in the next couple months. My life-line microwave on my built-in microwave and oven combo stopped working and I needed to find someone that could repair it. The technician, Mike, came the same day of my call and he was able to quickly diagnose that the microswitch needed to be replaced. Thank goodness it wasn't a bigger problem! Mike had to come back the next day with his boss, Boris, with a dolly to be able to pull the microwave oven combo appliance out of the cabinet so the microswitch on the microwave could be replaced. Within an hour, my microwave was working again! With the professional service from Appliance Guard, I was quite pleased in their knowledge and work at a very reasonable price. Our refrigerator gave out and a tech from Appliance Guard was able to come out the next day to check it out. We needed a new motor, which had to be ordered. The tech came out bright and earlier the very next day, with the part and fixed it for a fraction of the price of a new refrigerator. I held off on posting a review, not sure our refrigerator would still be working a month later (ya never know), but it is in tip-top shape. I got back from vacation and I could hear water coming from underneath my dishwasher. Called Friday I was able to get an appointment for Sunday. Had to turn off the water until then. The the repairman shows up at 9:45 on Sunday. He takes off the front of the dishwasher and in just a couple minutes tells me that one of the black tubes that feeds the waterline to the dishwasher is broken and needs to be repaired. He cannot fix it I need a plumber. I paid $65 he went on his way. Call 3 different plumbers and they all tell me call appliance repair guy . I tell them they told me to call a plumber. They said something that normally the appliance guy would do. Finally I get a plumber Monday. He tells me the same thing I explain to him that I already tried that and he is nice enough to offer to help anyway. Until he can come back tomorrow he is going to Cap the dishwasher line for me so we can have water. I feel like the appliance repair guy didn't wanna get dirty. He certainly didn't try to help. I was surprised such a nice shoes and clothes on for a repairman took his. $65 and he left. Plumber is here fixing it finally. He had to order the tubing not something he normally has. Our ice machine stopped working. Called this company based on some good reviews on Nextdoor. Told the repairman, this had happened 6 months ago, the fix was a new left gasket and defrosting the freezer. He insisted right gasket was fine, just need a hair dryer blown along it to fix. Several visits later, along with the cost of a new ice maker; ice maker would stop once a week and even leak water for hours. I circled back with repairman to consider new gasket. No response. I ordered a right gasket, defrosted the freezer, working again. I get many new hires today are not totally experienced or may be trained to always sell a part, but Google YOUR issue BEFORE calling these folks. read more

What a rip off! Terry came out to adjust the height of the washer and dryer, Switch the dryer door to open from the right side, and reattach the dishwasher kick panel. Tery was able to lower the washer, and switch the dryer door. Charging $300. Terry wanted an additional $100 to lower the dryer. Did not have the parts for the kick panel. He then got confrontational with my wife when she questioned the charges. Steer clear of these thieves! read more
