We found Tim at Efficiency Air through a neighbor who had a complex HVAC job. I had already tried 6 different companies who were all pretty much the same. They were trying to sell me a system for a 4 bedroom house, when I only have two bedrooms. The pricing was over the top and they only offered 1 year labor warranty. I tried to negotiate with them for a more reasonable price that accounted for a good mark up for them (everyone needs to make a profit, I get that!), but the salesmen refused to come down and stopped responding to me. Then, Tim came in and SAVED THE DAY. Where he differed from the rest is his matter of fact explanations of the system and install, what will/won't pass inspection, and his experience with different brands. No upselling! He confirmed that the US HVAC brands are all good as long as they are installed properly. He offered a 10 year labor warranty (which speaks volumes about his confidence in his work). Even though it would have been easier to remove our 30 year old 5 ton package unit from the roof with a crane, I had a lot of concerns due to the surrounding trees, power lines, and narrow space, so Tim graciously agreed to have it removed by hand (much more labor intensive) and he still got the entire job done in one day. New heat pump system with the furnace in the attic and replacement of the ducts was quoted at great price. New thermostat of course plus a new vent in our laundry room and a new attic access. 5-6 guys on site who were all very professional and took great care in doing the job. The install was done so professionally - not only did they leave no trace of the work inside and out, but all of the connections and lines are visibly clean and straight. A lot of care went into making it look good and not disturb our property. The system itself runs beautifully for heating and cooling. Very quiet, very fast, and strong. PSA I learned from Tim: Always change your filter every 90 days! This will do wonders for keeping the system running perfectly. I highly recommend Tim and Efficiency Air. I can't say enough good things about Tim and Efficiency Air. From his first walk through of our house to the day of installation and all the questions and concerns in between, he was a real pleasure to work with. Our house is old, built in the 1950's, so central AC was not something it came with or we ever put in. We managed just fine with our rooftop swamp cooler up until 2020... then covid hit and we were all forced to work from home over the summer. It was then I found out just how hot things gets in the middle of July inside our old house. After a hellish summer, we all swore central AC was a must for 2021. Fast forward to the first heatwave in early June 21' and we were on the phone and online looking for contractors to help. I'll be honest, it's a daunting task because it's a major home purchase and it's an expensive one. We did our due diligence and got a number of bids but in the end, Tim won us over. And here's why: He's very upfront and there's no salesman vibe from him. He'll tell you what he can do for you and your situation and then empower you with knowledge on the options you have. It was quite the process to find a company that would install a system at our house, mainly because most companies give you a huge headache trying to sell you a system. So when Paul finally called me back after a week and came to give us a free estimate, my husband and I were not in the mood for any more sales people and their sales pitch. We were happy to meet Paul, who was straight forward and within 15 minutes recommended Carrier split system with All the latest tech upgrades, mainly because their warranty is the best and that was the only thing We really cared about besides the size. We also needed extra cooling in the living room and in the master. So we ended up adding 5 additional vents. I waited a while to leave this review because I wanted to make sure that the 2 installed A/C units, blasting 24/7 during June-July, actually worked well. Paul was great and he came back to change all the filters and checked the system after 30 days. He said it was "looking good" and the new filters should give us 3 more months. He recommended to call him before 1 year ended and let him know how it's working. The way I see it, if we are freezing inside, while everyone else is baking outside, I am a happy happy trooper. All in all, the system is awesome, everything was install in one day and they cleaned after themselves. So I can confidently say that my experience was excellent. read more

I was lucky to find Efficiency Air. I had tried to get a couple of other companies to bid my installation of two separate systems on two floors, but they were slow to respond, so I called Efficiency Air, Tim answered the phone, was nearby, and offered to come right over. He just blew me away with his experience, his straightforwardness, and his obvious competence. The other companies eventually came by and I ended up with five different bids (I know, too many; it just worked out that way). A couple of the other companies seemed really good, but Efficiency Air was the one that showed the greatest attention to detail and the most creativity. For example, my lower floor system was intended to be a classic AC and furnace, but no adequate AC unit was available. So, on his own, Tim investigated and found a comparable heat pump that was in stock, plus a huge rebate for it from SCAQMD. No other contractor even mentioned heat pumps, let alone knew there was a huge rebate for them. (Oh, btw, I love the heat pump; so much gentler and also greener than a furnace.) Tim also told me in the very first conversation that he expected his bid to be higher than some other companies. Turns out, due to his creativity, it was about the same for a better product. Let me add that Tim's continued communication (even now, helping me get my rebates) is fantastic and that the workers were totally professional. For example, the crane couldn't park where we wanted it, and the operator managed to get my old unit down and my new unit up from an astonishing distance while simultaneously negotiating trees and power lines. Of course that operator is not part of Efficiency Air, he's a sub-contractor, but that's the point: Efficiency Air has the contacts and the intelligence to hire the best. I'm sure their installation teams are the best, too. I do know is my units look cleanly installed and are working perfectly. Oh, one more thing. I forgot to tell Tim during the installation that my drain line from the roof unit was backing up. So, Tim got a couple of his guys to come back the next day and reroute the line to an alternate location for free. That is truly great customer service. Go ahead, get various bids, as I did. In the end, I bet you hire Efficiency Air. And I bet you'll be as happy as I am. read more

I was very pleased with Efficiency Air's installation of a new 3-ton HVAC system in my townhouse in West Los Angeles. Tim Mitchell made the estimate and, while it was not the lowest I received, I felt Tim had the best answers to my questions about the equipment choices beforehand and treated me respectfully for my wanting to be educated about it. The install team headed by Carlos arrived on time and was professional, and Tim was on site as well. Some extra work was needed to modify the space for the air handler and they did some welding for that, and were able to move the thermostat to a better location. It went faster than I thought. Post-installation service has been very good. Over the past three years, I have requested a couple service calls, all of which were handled promptly and satisfactorily. It had always had a freon leak and past companies would come out year after year to fill it without ever locating the source. My warranty company, American Home Shield, contracted Efficiency Air to repair our broken heater. The most important thing about my interaction with efficiency air was the fact that Phillip diagnosed the problem on Thursday, and surprisingly the part was in stock and he was in the area the next day and was able to come back and fix it Friday. They were a little tough to get on the phone and didn't have the most accurate appointment windows, but they were very friendly and fixed it faster than any other company that AHS has contracted for our other appliances. It's been so chilly and we weren't sure how long it would take as previous companies have taken forever to get home warranty approval and parts, but luckily in our case they were able to handle it quickly and we are SO GRATEFUL! read more

He arrived on time and we talked through different options. My condo complex has older electrical wiring, so installing a central unit was not possible. I purchased two wall-mounted units that do an excellent job. Tim is professional, personable, knowledgeable, and has an excellent manner with people. He's well-versed with the workings of HOAs and met with the the Board President to show him what we wanted to do. His explanations were clear and complete. I gave Efficiency Air 5 stars for punctuality, professionalism, excellent communication, and commitment to making the project a reality. The only thing that wasn't stellar was that none of the workmen wore masks. Tim was incredibly knowledgeable and really did a great job explaining what we needed - we bought a heat pump - and how it worked etc. We had interviewed four other companies but chose Efficiency Air for two reasons : first was Tim's mastery and the fact that he himself would be at our house overseeing and directing his crew throughout the installation to make sure everything was installed perfectly and he made good on that promise. And secondly, for the same price as the other companies we had interviewed, Tim gave us all new ducting, vent covers, and a new plenum and return duct. Other companies seemed tied to a particular brand that would require a new platform and a roofer.
