So Cal Air - Life is GOOD

So Cal Air

I had very good experiences with So Cal Air and definitely recommend them…read more Both the business and the construction parts of the job went smoothly. Communication was good. They helped me understand options and worked with me on what I wanted. They did what they said they would do. They were flexible and took the time to finesse the work where it was needed. Good quality work. Permits went fine, and everything passed the first time. My 1930 property has a 2-story duplex and a house. I live in one unit and have renters in the other units. I talked to several companies about the work. So Cal Air was more responsive than other companies. Menooa was very knowledgeable and helpful during the first meeting, offering me options. Their proposal was competitive with other proposals. They helped me understand options and were flexible, and worked with me through the installation of what I wanted. They installed 3 separate systems for me, one system for each unit. Each system had 3 zones. I've had many repairs to my property over the years, and the details matter to me. I wanted to hide the lines as much as practical, preserve the architectural look. My contractor handled the electrical installation and opened and repaired the drywall after the lines were installed. SoCal Air worked well with my contractor. Renovation of older construction is often complicated and takes extra effort. We had to come up with some creative solutions, and SoCal Air did a great job! My units were installed above doors and windows. My contractor modified the living room cove ceilings so the indoor units would fit close to the ceiling. So Cal Air did everything else. Everything fits great and looks great! I appreciated that Manooa gave good recommendations to steer me away from difficulties, but he also listened to me and headed my wishes when it mattered to me. So Cal Air handled the permits for the heat pumps. The installation passed the LA Building and Safety inspections with no issues. The work was finished late summer, early fall of 2025, after the heat, but in time for winter. Heating worked great in winter. We had a chance to use the cooling during a recent heat wave, and it worked great! I bought the heat pumps primarily for cooling, since the apartments had only heating and had never had cooling before. The units work great! The temperature stays very comfortable. Everything is very quiet. I barely know they are on, except when I open the door and am shocked by how hot it is outside. My tenants gave me positive feedback and have been very happy with the heat pumps. My property still looks like 1930, but it doesn't feel like 1930 anymore! I am very happy with their work and the results. I've recommended So Cal Air to several friends.

I recently had So Cal Air replace my entire HVAC system, including both the outdoor unit and the…read moreindoor air handler. I could not be happier with the experience. From the initial consultation through installation, Menooa and his team were professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. They also enlarged one of my return air vents to meet the higher airflow needs of the new HVAC system. The work required widening the opening in the ceiling and installing a new return grille. The crew handled it neatly and professionally. When they finished, it looked like new. The new system is working great, airflow is noticeably improved, and the entire project was completed fast and as promised. It's not often that a major home improvement project goes this smoothly. I would recommend So Cal Air to anyone looking for HVAC installation or replacement.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! We had a vintage system. It…read morecooled one part of the house and the rest of the house we couldn't feel it. We sought three quotes. Comfort Zone Heating & Air (Kevin, owner) came to provide a solution. I saw his mind was occupied with nothing but solutions. Service, solutions, and more is what they delivered. We communicated via group text including with the office. I probably only called the office once, but got the hang of their system rather quickly. If we had immediate concern, Kevin would be on the phone call. We passed the city inspection in flying colors. HERS testing also. Josue and another guy came to replace all the old ductwork. Cleaned everything out. Very courteous. Very respectful with your things. Great value. Highly recommended. Include this company when you are looking for a quote. Thank you Comfort Zone Heating & Air. See you in the future for our maintenance.

And this was in August so I know all the companies were slammed!! Some companies wanted to charge me $100+ to come out for an estimate which would be credited towards the repair bill. Comfort Zone didn't. The repairman gave me a quote & went right to work. My A/C was fixed fairly quickly & the bill was less than what I was expecting - I hadn't gotten it fixed or tuned up for 10 years so I had no clue how much it would be & was expecting it to be high! The work was done well, repairs were explained to me & I hadn't had any problems. I would definitely recommend Comfort Zone Heating & Air! Trustworthy & real pros!

It was so quick that maybe the $100 feet was an overpay. But when you think about it, paying $100 and having you AC fixed the next day is the best case scenario.

Do not let your home warranty company send these people. They are professional scammers…read more First technician came out May 19, confirmed the compressor was broken, promised a report, and never sent one. We had to chase Fidelity ourselves after a week and a half of silence. June 2, the owner Arthur shows up unannounced for a second inspection on the same unit. He never introduces himself, just barks "AC" when I ask who he is, and proceeds to talk down to us the entire visit. We were not supposed to have another inspection, I informed him we were only awaiting a report from his company, he dismissed me and demanded to know where the unit was. Then it gets worse. He demands to know where "the owners" are. We tell him we're the owners. He looks us up and down and asks TWICE "Are you sure you're the owners and not the renters?" We are people of color. We own a beautiful home in a nice part of LA. He was visibly in disbelief and I asked him directly: "Is there a reason you believe I can't be the owner?" He changed the subject. He then accused us of tampering with the unit over a fuse, BUT HIS OWN PHOTO EVIDENCE of texts between him and his employee PROVED it was untouched immediately after the first inspection. We explained the fuse was temporarily moved a week after their inspection by a professional to trial and error an issue on our upstairs unit. This was well within our rights to do regarding the warranty claim because WE ALREADY HAD AN INSPECTION, AND HIS COMPANY TOLD US THE COMPRESSOR WAS BROKEN. Also literally all of our contractors are licensed. He waved off me, my husband, our licensed HVAC contractor, and general contractor -- all people of color -- like we were beneath him, and stormed off to the compressor stating "I don't need to hear anymore." I confronted him on his behavior and that he needed to be more respectful, he became quiet and inspected the unit. After his inspection, he told us just as his employee had, that the compressor was blown. He also mentioned this had no relation to the fuse. HE THEN INSTEAD called the warranty company and told them an unlicensed contractor had caused the damage and THEY SHOULD DENY THE CLAIM because all we had was a dirty filter and the fuse was the issue!!! The warranty company also found his story suspicious and assigned us a new vendor. If yours tries to send LA Standard, show them this review along with all the others and demand a different vendor. Not only did we prove to Fidelity we only had licensed work done, we are reporting LA Standard to the BBB and are not afraid to file a suit if needed because we are 100% in the right in the face of this scammy company.
