The water heater was shut off as I was working on an unrelated gas line extension and upon turning the gas back on, the pilot light would not light up due to a bad thermocouple. I was told a cost and that they had a thermocouple for this specific unit however being that the unit was 10 years old, he wasn't sure it would work. Came the next day and got the thermocouple replaced and the water heater fired up and running. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Quick, responsive and on time - especially for a weekend (it was Sunday when he came over). I had a Navien water heater replaced. The work was scheduled quickly and the price was competive. The work van looked nothing like the nice new ones in the pictures which was my first sign that quality may be an issue. Sure enough the workmanship in the installation was quite poor. The installer cut a lot of corners with mis-sized piping, holes in the drywall, screws that were sticking out on the bracket. I decided to call back the next day to have these issues fixed. Joseph promptly agreed to send someone out in 2 days. The day came and he rescheduled for a week later. That was followed by about two more week long delays until I finally realized he was blowing me off. I've never had a plumber that can't help me promptly within 2 days. Joseph's latest text says I should call someone else if I don't want to wait another week. Bottom line is do not use these guys if you want a quality install and for them to standby their work. read more

When the hot water stopped working in our home I messaged roughly 7 providers in my area to see who could repair our water heater for the best price. I just called these guys to help with my water heating system. Based on pictures they ask to replace the water heating system itself as they think its leaking whereas it was not and it is raining from couple of days and the system in outside for us. Got a water heater installed in 2019 and nobody ever told me about permits nor that one would not be pulled as part of any standard job. I am not a subject matter expert, so did not think to ask. Fast forward, I'm now trying to sell my condo and I'm having to hold the sale to be able to go through the city of San Jose and pull permits. I called Efficient Water Heater to see if there was anything they could do to help me throughout this process. I mean ANYTHING. Just help me apply or pull the permit for the job, something. I do not even mind paying the fees or waiting. I just wanted help throughout the process. Well, the help I was offered was the name of the website in which to apply and told good luck. He was not sympathetic and told me that that's how they get more business as it allows them to appear competitive with their cost when customers are getting quotes. No one ever tells you though that the way they're cutting costs is by not pulling the proper city permits. Buyers beware that companies that cut corners and conduct shady business operations like this will quickly make a buck and leave you treading water with no lifevest. "We will not be doing any more future work for you." Why, because I'm asking for help getting a permit for a job you completed? If there's a zero star, i will give it. This company is horrible and very unethical. I have a water heater less than 5 years old need to be repaired. Joseph took the job told me it's repairable for $425 and pressured me to pay $300 in advice and he will come back for the job. I paid and next time he came back, he said water heater can't be repaired and need to be replaced for 2000. Since I paid the 300, I have no choices but go with them. Without seeing the completed and confirmed work. I was pressured multiple times for payment and threatened if I don't pay now he will file a mechanical lien on my property. He also didn't advised my on getting a permit and tricked me to go with their company for the service. If you are looking for any kinds of repair, I highly not recommend them since they will make you replace the system. They might be licensed but make sure they write on an invoice they are getting a permit and the charges are included. It's not so much of the fee but I was in a townhouse which needed to be permitted and explained that and it was never done. Edit: I did text you when this happened and you responded technically it is out of our labor warranty now, it's out of our hands and my responsibility. I only realized this when my HOA 2 years and 3 months later did an inspection because I was selling that there is no permit and labor warranty was 2 years. It's not covid related. Originally, I was looking for service to fix my old one at yelp but I decided to replace it with a new one. Luckily, I got service of a new Water heater installation from Josepth who is owner of Efficient Water heaters today. What a poor customer experience from Joseph. Similar to all the other 1 star reviews - I decided to go with them to replace my water heater when it broke. They insisted on tankless which is what I ended up going for. it was workking fine for 2 months and then lukewarm water started appearing in all but 1 faucet in the house. When I called him to come out and check it as part of the service (they do give you 1 year warranty) he was aggressive in tone, started blaming the mixing valve, told me to get another plumber because they are slammed and told me he will charge me for going out and doing the analysis for me. This company only looks good on paper when you deal with the first time installation. Service in not existent and will cost you, given you will have to go with a different company. Also - on my last call - he disconnected from me and then wrote me a boiler plate that he will not do business with me and that it's all my fault! What a guy! AVOID! Save yourself energy and go with some professionals instead. EDIT - check out his private message to me attached as well. Joseph told me on the phone his philosophy when I explained that I don't appreciate his attitude and angry tone of voice: he said : You are not my boss. That sums it all up for those of you that are looking for a company to do business with. Check all the 1 star reviews and you will know these guys are to be avoided. EDIT 2. It's even better - this company get's so many bad reviews - they even automated the response to them :) EDIT 3. After a few days - I ordered a highly recommended plumber from Handy Plumbing Man LLC come out to inspect the butchered job these guys did and as it turns out: 1) This company misconfigured the tankless water heater to use an external recirculation pump which is why it was not giving hot water everywhere. They forgot to turn the valves correctly and change the settings And Joseph was straight rude and direct to blame me for faults in my plumbing without coming and checking, when in fact his company installed this wrong 2) They installed the gas line that is too small for what the needs of the unit are, completely needlessly as the supply is bigger but their team added a smaller pipe for no reason whatsoever (I assume that's what they had on the car with them) 3) They did not vent the dripping from the condenser - which is standard 4) They connected the tankless unit to my prior exhaust, which is made of steel and will corrode very quickly. They upsold me a tankless unit without informing me I will have problems with corroded exhaust and fumes in the hose in the future. Unprofessional is an understatement - AVOID AT ALL COST. read more

If you would like a knowledgeable professional who will install your water heater properly and honor the warranty, please look elsewhere. Joseph installed a tankless water heater for us back in March 2022. We had no issues and appreciated the fast service at a reasonable price much like a lot of the 5 star reviews here. We started having issues with the hot water in August 2022. Since everything was still under warranty, I called him on a Monday to see if he could take a look. After a lot of no-shows and rescheduling, he sent out a tech on Saturday. I explained the issue with the inconsistent hot water, especially in the shower, and the tech said it was an issue with the shower valve. The tech also noted that the pitch on the vent was off which caused water to collect. He called Joseph to let him know and Joseph decided to blame the rain (yes, the 10 minutes of rain we experienced in the last 6 months). That raised a red flag as it seemed like he was trying to avoid doing any work under warranty, but I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. I replaced the shower valve myself and still had the same issue. I texted Joseph about it and he got defensive. Much like the negative reviews here, he continued to blame the shower valve and continued to tell me to get a licensed professional. I thought he was one, but I was happy to get some more opinions on the issue. After a lot of phone calls, I was able to find a plumber who was also a water heater expert. He came out and checked my whole water heater and plumbing system. He explained to me all the issues with the original water heater installation job and why they would cause problems in the short and long term. After 10 minutes of troubleshooting, he discovered the current issue was the pump in the water heater as its output was about half of what it should have been. He also showed me how water was getting into the vent (hint: it wasn't rain). While everything was technically covered under warranty, I appreciated this expert's honesty (he came out for free as a favor to a friend) and I decided it was better to pay him to fix it than waste more of my time trying to work with Joseph. I do appreciate Joseph's insistence on finding a licensed professional as I learned a lot about tankless water heaters. This experience helped me find someone knowledgeable and reliable for the future. I hope Joseph also uses this experience to learn from instead of getting defensive when customers have issues under warranty. read more
