When I requested bids to replace a water heater, Air and Plumbing was the first one to come out to make a bid. Their bid for replacing a gas water heater with a heat pump was lowest of 3 bids that I received, and they were able to install it sooner than the other 2. Edward did a great job adding the electrical circuit and installing the new water heater. The only hangup was waiting for the delivery of the new water heater, but it was still completed on the day scheduled. They obtained the necessary permits and inspections, and with Santa Clara rebates, it was cheaper than simply replacing with another gas water heater. The good side is that Mark responded quickly and set up an appointment for the next day. The diagnostic price is the lowest of what I know of. Both the manager and the technician are friendly to work with. My issue was, all thermostats went off. My initial guess was that some fuse or breaker was triggered, but I could not find them. Not much experience with HVAC system. The technician sent by Mark unfortunately was misled by the intact fuse on the furnace, and believed the zone control board needs to be replaced. There was another fuse on the board itself, which was triggered. After they left the site, they did admit their mistake of missing that and refund the full diagnostics fee. read more

Our AC unit was blowing warm air. After I sent a request for service, Air & Plumbing answered me with a quote for service charge of $49 and that they have opening for the same day. So, I took my chances and scheduled for the afternoon. Sergei came and diagnosed it quickly and gave us a quote. We went ahead with the work. I didn't know that freon is that expensive in the Bay Area, 75% more than what I paid in Stockton a few years back. In any case, Sergei told me that the valve to the freon was not tightened. That was why it was low even though the unit was only 5 years old. I appreciated his candidness. It's been 2 weeks since the service, and the AC is working well. read more

We had a great experience working with Air and Plumbing Systems. They replaced our gas furnace and central A/C with a Heat Pump system (indoor and outdoor components). Their quote was very fair and reasonable and Mark was very responsive to our concerns and questions. There were some ducts that needed replacing and they were able to offer a quote and get that replaced quickly. There was also an issue of the new ducts blocking part of the attic hatch space, so they were able to figure out a different way to orient the ducts from the air handler. Right after a recent heatwave it became obvious that my upstairs AC was barely working. It's over 30 years old and a heat pump so expected to be told that I needed a new unit even if it was repairable. Messages Mark at Air & Plumbing and he said they had someone who was free that afternoon to take a look. The tech Eugene quickly figured out it was just low on refrigerant and was able to top it off and check for leaks. I had my furnace of 15 years fail due to a cracked heat exchanger. On Monday Dec 22nd, I had contacted the company that originally installed it to price out a replacement. The cost quoted was nearly 10K which was absurd. Since we were hosting Christmas, they thought they had us over a barrel. I contacted Mark at Air & Plumbing after seeing their reviews on Yelp. He came out the next morning on Tuesday December 23rd and provided a quote for half of what the other company quoted. Mark had his installer out on December 24th at 8am and had us running by noon Christmas eve. This was incredible service to have someone come out on such short notice on Christmas eve. After online request for information and pricing, I decided to have A&PS come out for diagnostic visit for our water-leaky AC indoor unit. Eduard spent half an hour checking out both indoor and outdoor units and called for a coil replacement. He then showed up the next day for the job and wrapped up the whole thing within 2 hours. Eduard is a no-nonsense, fast, and tidy pro; the workmanship is much better than the original. I'm super happy with the results. As for pricing, the price was in the middle of the pack for Bay Area. This was going to be a much lower rating but the customer service boosted the rating. I saw there were plenty of good ratings for one of the techs, Caesar, but my experience was not good. My AC stopped working and Caesar was sent out for the service call, which was $50. He took one look at my unit and declared it unrepairable and a full replacement needed. I asked what about the capacitor since those always seem to be at the top of the list of things that break down. He said it was bad and my unit will not turn on, there is no power,and a new condensor is needed. Well, I didn't really believe him but got a quote for a full replacement anyways. I decided to get some additional free estimates for replacement since I did not know if I got a fair price or not. Another tech from another company was able to come out the same day and he actually wanted to look at the unit more closely even tho he was there to give a replacement quote. Took him less than one minute to declare the capacitor was bad, he had one in the truck and replaced that along with a bad fuse (which was why the unit had no power). Maybe Caesar had a bad day or he was trying to catch up on his quota for the month? Who knows, but I spent a small fraction of the price to get my AC repaired. I still paid $400 for what was probably only $50 in parts and about 15 minutes in labor but thats the cost these days I guess. A lot better than $7-10k. I contacted them via the Yelp messaging and requested they refund my diagnostic fee since they gave a terrible diagnostic. I got my refund in short order so at least they were honest about that. And I have to say their full replacement quote was quite reasonable compared to the others I have gotten. read more
