I concur with the other reviews. I dreaded going to the dentist. And I trusted Yelp on this one - Dr. Almario was nearby, it felt as hassle free as it was gonna get. I've had two appts so far, everyone was very nice, the procedures were remarkably stress free, and really as close to pain free as one could possibly expect. There were no stern lectures, just matter-of-fact, this is what we need to do, here's how to take care of it, etc. All delivered with a very friendly personality. She also needed to refer me to an outside specialist, who also has a similar welcoming vibe. I like that. Dr. Almario is awesome. She explained things very clearly and was patient enough to make sure I understood exactly what was going on. SHe was very down to earth and I could tell she had my best interest at heart. She didn't scold me for not being better to my teeth either which I appreciated. She was fast and did an excellent job with the filling I had. Her offices are lovely and clean and very up to date. She was on time for my appointment and I didn't have to wait. If my new insurance was carried by the office I would be going back FOR SURE!!!!! Unfortunately the office doesn't carry what I'm getting and the other dental plans aren't as good for me. So I won't be going back...totally and completely bummed. But I think she carries everything else except for that one. So call then and just go. It was such an easy and FAST experience!!! I have been a patient for a few years so I have been receiving updates from the office on COVID-19 and the safety procedures in the office so I felt comfortable going today. My experience at the office was the completely uncomfortable. THIS PRACTICE IS NOT TAKING COVID SERIOUSLY. Firstly, the office was packed. In the time I was there there were at least five other patients in and out the door. One in the waiting room chatting with the receptionist, people outside waiting and every chair full at one point. I was there for almost 3 hours to get a filling and the doctor bounced between patients. Second, they did not disinfect the X-ray machine before or after they used it on me and put it away. The X-ray machines serve two different patient areas. This is especially concerning because the technician touched the machine, then put her hand in my mouth, then touched the machine AGAIN before putting it away in a closed cabinet. Most concerning, the doctor and the technicians did not change gowns between patients and she frequently wiped her hands and adjusted her gown while she was doing my filling as well as touching cabinet pulls, etc. I will not be returning to this dentist during Covid-19 or any other time. read more

I finally have my molar crown after having a painful root canal at my upper right molar. Dr. Almario is now my go to dentist. I will highly recommend her as she is very kind and respectful. Her office is very clean and great atmosphere. The staff are very nice and I really appreciate their hospitality. I chose her because of her ratings and also is within 2 miles from home. I had made three appointments with her. The first appointment was having a referral to a Endodontic Doctor for a root canal treatment. My second appointment was for my temporary molar crown placement. My third appointment was for my molar crown placement. All this was within 1.5 month including the Endodontic doctor. Overall I am satisfied with the procedure and I am eating well with no discomfort or other abnormal symptoms. I created future appointment with her for general check and soon I will be following up with her for fillings. I been paying cash and I was expecting a lot more but is not. At least with me. I have spend $1,250.00 for my upper molar crown In two separate payments. Regardless of the price, I am very satisfied but now I am more aware and care for oral hygene and cutting down the sugars. Poor service from front staff. I've been a patient for at least 4 years, referred friends, and bought the bleaching kit and was given the wrong bleaching solution. Even after I asked twice if it was correct. Unhappy. It's too bad bc the dentist is a lovely person but not a fan of front staff who made the mistake. Also wasn't a fan of getting charged extra for cleaning when I wasn't made aware that it wasn't covered by insurance. I think as a consumer they should let me know when there will be services that I am expected to pay not covered by insurance. read more

I went in because my dentist died and I needed to have my teeth cleaned and get a temp put in where the dead dentist's had fallen out. I chose this office because of a fancy brochure I got in the mail with a $69 "sale" price. What a stupid mistake I made to not throw that in the garbage! The pricing was a complete ripoff-- I paid far more and didn't even get the cleaning-- and the up-sell was scary. The bad vibes from the dental technician were really disturbing and I would never set foot in that office again. I have since found a much better dentist and I suggest people look elsewhere read more

Who knew a dental office could warrant 5 stars? Everyone from the front desk to the doctor herself is so warm and welcoming! They instantly put you to ease and talk you through each procedure before they start. Not to mention they have headphones that connect to Netflix on flat screen tvs on the ceiling that you can watch while they work on you. Definitely a plus when you are getting a lot of work done! What really prompted me to write a review though is that my front teeth cracked and I needed to get them filled in ASAP until I could go back in and get them done with veneers. Well I don't know if my pregnancy had anything to do with it but my temporary replacements needed to be replaced again. I called the office and they fit me in and fixed it and sent me on my merry way. No payments required since she guarantees her work for a year. In fact I even received a check in the mail with a copy of my services and I seemed to get overcharged by $50. I would've never known and they could've easily kept it for themselves!! Im sad to write this as Dr Almario was very sweet and her office is very nice. However, the dental work my husband and I both had done here failed very fast. First, EVERYTIME we both went in, we had like 200 xrays taken. The tech could never figure out where to point the device. Literally, id watch the screen and be like, well that's my skull, that's the back of the chair, oh I think thats my ear. She would get very flustered and take so many films. That cannot be ok. Plus, Ive never had a dentist do xrays every 6 months, ever. On both of our last visits, the Dr told us each that a filling that she did had to be redone, on the house. meaning they didnt last 6 months. By that point we were just done. Also after looking at both of our wonky xrays, she claimed we both needed the same tooth filled. I find that highly doubtful. i wondered if she read the same xray twice. Today im sitting here in pain suddenly in a spots she just filled about 2 years ago. Ive had filling since I was 12 that are great. During that sesson she numbed both my top jaw and lower jaw in the same session. Ive never had that before and it seemed rather dangerous. Last the billing is VERY disorganized. I could never get a straight answer about cost. I usually paid on the spot for our co-payments, but months after our last visit we got bills for $50. I called and she said it was for extra x-rays, she thought. Ha, nope. read more

I was looking for a dentist in the Silver Lake area and decided to try Dr. Almario based on the yelp reviews. My first visit there went well, just a basic exam and cleaning. Then I had two cavities filled...two months later and two visits back to Dr. Almario, I still have pain where these cavities were filled! Yes the office is nice and you get a fine basic cleaning, but I would not recommend coming here. read more

They have TVs on the ceiling, so I'm wilin' out to Planet Earth II while having the work done. I was so unhappy with my last dentist that I went looking on Yelp to see what others were saying about her. After realizing that I was not the only one so dissatisfied I read some of the reviews posted about Dr. Almario. I went to her in such pain and fear....she was comforting and explained things very clearly. I did need a root canal (thus my pain) and she prescribed pain killers + antibiotics and sent me to her contact - Dr. Ghaia. Dr. Ghaia was also VERY understanding. I will continue to go to Dr. Almario as I am in the middle of treatment - she is very gentle - her office is great - her assistant at the front desk is so nice - I am so glad to find her and I wanted to share my experience. read more

Dr. Almario and her team are the BEST! I started with them about 2 years ago. After a few years of not seeing a dentist (oops!), I needed various dental work. Dr. Almario was understanding and not shaming and helped me to prioritize the treatment plan rather than having to do it all immediately and have to pay a large bill upfront. In addition to that, I love the space. It has a boutique feel and there are flat screens on the ceiling to watch Netflix while you're having work done. Her staff is amazing. It's a smaller practice and the staff has the vibe of a family. I wish I could see Dr. Almario for the rest of my life, but I am moving out of state. No future dentist will ever compare. Thank you to Dr. Almario and her team for an overall wonderful experience as a patient and wishing you all the best for the future! :) Also in response to the below review, this office doesn't do silver fillings. I know that because my insurance only fully covered silver fillings, which Dr. Almario doesn't offer, so I had to pay the up charge (which wasn't a problem). And in response to the billing, all medical offices bill based on pre-determined insurance *estimates* so once an office submits a claim to the insurance company, sometimes the insurance responds by saying they're only covering X amount, which can be higher or lower than what they originally quoted. If it's lower, the patient pays the difference; when it's higher, the patient gets a refund. This happened to me twice with Dr. Almario' office where I actually got a partial REFUND for the services I had previously done. It was awesome! I'm not trying to discount any non-positive experience the below reviewer had, just wanted to respond to those 2 points because I love this office. read more

My husband and I are never returning to this dentist again. We feel like she made things worse than before and ripped us off. We have our surviving twin girl at Sunset Kaiser and I am taking a leave of absence from my job and I am the primary insurance holder. So we decided to get our dental work done before the end of the school year. Since we are not from the area, we just searched for a dentist nearby with good reviews. My husband's teeth were not bothering him only AFTER getting work done with this dentist. And he bought a mouth guard for $450 when you can get one off of Amazon that molds into your teeth for $30!! I made the mistake of paying in advance and when it was my next-to-last appointment she told me since my insurance was running out I had to pay more. I said that I got an extension for my insurance so she then said that that I still needed to pay more because the $1,900 I paid was just an estimate. And at the end of my visit she changed the reason once more why I needed to pay more. I feel like was just trying to get more money from me. And she kept on going out of town so my work went on on for 2 months!!! And now she is still going after me because I refused to pay for something I never had done!!!! read more

Efma and her team are the only people I would ever want touching my teeth! The office on Hillhirst is small and personal. The whole team is wonderful, the environment is super duper friendly and very professional. Plus they updated the space with Netflix, what more could you ask for. I was watching The Godfather while replacing a crown and it was a delight. I go in to all my appointments feeling that Efma and all the staff are going to give my teeth the best service possible. I never have to think twice about anything including price or treatment. I'm sure Efma is one of the best dentists in the whole city. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job. Really really. I have avoided going to the dentist for ten years. The result? I had to get a gum scraping and have cavities filled. I left Dr. Almario's office a two hours ago and it was basically painless.
