Nice, unpretentious little spot tucked away on Piedmont. Kind of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it facade, but don't miss it if you're looking for homey comfort food, especially on a weekend. Dropped by with my brother for a quick, light meal. He recommended it and said he'd stopped for a meal on a whim recently and liked the place. The waitress was really nice and our food came out pretty quickly. I got the fried egg sandwich, which comes with two eggs on toast, with tomato and lettuce and a thin layer of mayo. I also got a side order of bacon (four pieces to an order), and they made it extra crispy, just like I requested. This was the perfect meal for wanting something to get full but not stuffed. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the lettuce was crispy and not wilted, the tomato wasn't mush, the sandwich was a decent size, and everything tasted great. I do think if I hadn't ordered the bacon, I wouldn't have felt quite as satisfied, and I was put off by the fact that the price of a side of bacon was almost the same price as the sandwich itself. But I did enjoy my food and it was a pleasant dining experience. No frills, no drama. Would be happy to eat here again. read more

Stopped for a quick bite. The boyfriend ordered the crab cake Benedict. Per his palate, it was okay and definitely could have been better. Their more "fancy" items don't really showcase advanced chef skills. This spot is best for the basics and budget friendly. I ordered the breakfast sandwich. It was simple enough to make at home, The fruit was the highlight of my meal, it was fresh. Ironically enough, they didn't cook it. Service was attentive, and the place was surprisingly packed. We've been here 3 times and they were all fantastic. We ate in two times. Both times I got the croissant breakfast sandwich. It comes in a giant croissant with melted cheese, a single egg, and crispy bacon, or at least that is how I got mine. The croissant just melts in your mouth, it's so flakey and buttery. My husband got the 2 egg breakfast with a side of hash browns and south dough or English muffin. We both enjoyed our meals and we will be back. On our third visit we split the cinnamon roll donut. It was large and soft, so so very soft. I loved it and there was a hint of cinnamon to it. Not the same as a traditional cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting, but will work in a pinch. I'd order it again. The Cafe is clean and tidy and bright. It's an old cafe, more like a diner. It looks like it brings in the same regulars, even the police eat there. There was a groups of at least 6 of them last time we were there eating at the table in front of us. They sounded like they've been there before. They have a single bathroom in the back. It's clean and well stocked. They have a donut case in the front filled with all kinds of donuts. That is where we got the cinnamon roll donut. There is a French bakery down the street, but they don't serve donuts. In addition it's nice and warm, not too warm, but the perfect temperature in the cafe to be comfortable. I liked being there better than the bakery down the street. If you are looking for donuts or croissants this is the place to come. Was craving a traditional breakfast and decided to order from Piedmont Cafe & Bakery. We ordered a variety of items: combo breakfast w/ waffles, side of corned beef hash and toast w/ jelly. We enjoyed the food we ordered and the portions were decent. The eggs were just a tad bit bland and required some extra salt/pepper. Potatoes were decently seasoned but still need a hint of salt and pepper. The toast had lots of butter, which I normally enjoy however I really wanted the jelly on my toast. Couldn't really taste the jelly due to the amount of butter. Is this a must must-have place? Nah, definitely not. However this place is a solid breakfast spot with a variety of options! This is one of my favorite breakfast places in the Bay Area, especially in Oakland. It's sad to see some haters giving bad reviews. First of all, this place has great prices and many places overcharge for food nowadays so shut the trap. The food is good, don't expect it to be amazing.. it's a basic coffee shop food stop. The service is top-notch, the ladies are all very sweet. Family owned. They even have fresh donuts! It is in a busy area with lots of different shops around so don't expect easy parking. Hole in the wall. Didn't know really where to get breakfast out in Oakland near Kaiser. Found this place and crossed my fingers. The donut case was almost empty, this got me worried about the food. The lady that waited on us was an older lady but was very friendly. She was the only waitress. I got the Waffle special. 1 waffle, 2 eggs ( I got over medium), and bacon. The bacon was crispy with no fat, sometimes I enjoy the fat. The over medium eggs were more so over easy, I find most places can't do a perfect over medium or their interpretation of over medium is different. The waffle was sweet and fluffy. No complaints on the waffle. This place is worth a try. I probably won't be back. read more

I was in the mood for some really good diner style pancakes. I did a search and the pics of the food here sold me on checking this place out. It's on a busy street so parking is a bit tricky but I found a spot not far away. You can seat yourself when you walk in and someone came over with a menu! I ordered the combo that came with pancakes, eggs and bacon or sausage... I also ordered a side of hash browns and a regular coffee. Everything was soooo good! The pancakes were fluffy, the eggs were cheesy and the best part is that the hash browns were crispy! Great service, they kept my coffee cup full! I like that the portions wet not obnoxious... just big enough to fill you up. A no frills place with great breakfast and you can even purchase donuts on your way out. read more

Cute little local Asian owned diner. Came with the fam because I'm worn out after 3 days with my little ones and didn't want to cook or clean for another meal. There is one lady doing it all up front but she was efficient and took our orders and gave us metal cups, not glass which was much appreciated with my kids here. The pancake special comes with two long pieces of bacon and we got two fried eggs which was perfect to split for my kids. The husband got the fried egg sandwich and I got the croissant sandwich with ham. The food here is decent and the bacon was crispy and not swimming in grease. I liked that the fried eggs were also not oily. The pancakes were also not too small or gigantic. Food came out with a decent time and my coffee was made to order. This was truly gag worthy. I ordered a breakfast of scrambles eggs, bacon and country bacon through Doordash on 4/11/26, at 12:15 pm. Instead of receiving the SCRAMBLED eggd that I ordered, and for which I paid, I was horrified to open the food container to fund runny, sunny-side up eggs, which make me gag, literally. Due to gastrointestinal issues my cut-off time for eating on Saturday is 1:00 pm. I'm a minister and need to be at worship and before the congregation on Sunday, so I have to keep my stomach empty, except for medication an a little water until around 3:00 pm Sunday afternoon. I could only eat the bacon and the portion of potatoes that did not have runny egg yolk on them. This was my first time ordering from this establishment, and I never will again. read more

First time coming here and loved it! It's a quiet place with great food at affordable prices with exceptional service. My food came out within 5-10 mins of ordering and their bakery items all looked great as well. I highly recommend trying the Croissant'wich with egg, cheese, and avocado. One can never go wrong with eggs--and that was definitely true today! I had a muffin sandwich with one egg, cheese, and bacon. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the whole sandwich was absolutely delicious. My husband had the cheese and avocado omelette, which was also very tasty and came with crispy hash browns on the side. The service was quick, efficient, and came with a warm, friendly smile. The servers very friendly and allowed us to sit where we pleased. They wasted no time taking our order and our food came out pretty quick and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the blueberry pancake combo that came with eggs and sausage ($10.99) and my husband ordered the French toast ($8.75) with a side of sausage ($3.99). I also ordered a mocha with almond milk and he got a snapple. I think all in all, we ended up spending about $35 for two. The service here is good. The food is good. The prices are good. Freshly made with the kind of seasonings I would use at home. The service was very friendly as we were greeted as we walked in the door and we were offered recommendations as to what to order. The Piedmont Cafe is a very quaint coffee house with good home made food. Eggs Benedict were served on Canadian bacon on English muffin with a very delicious hollandaise sauce poured on top. The taste of the country potatoes was very good with an herb seasoning (oregano,thyme flavors). I wish I could have checked it on the Yelp before going into the store. Customer service was terrible. The lady was super rude. I asked her just to make me a cappuccino and she thought I just wanted a coffee and showed like a grumpy attitude just handed me the worst coffee ever, and then she gave me wrong size like a size larger without even telling me and then she started charging like OK I made you a large coffee but I was like I asked for the small one, but we don't have a small so you should have let Customer know that we don't have the desired size. I stumbled upon this place as I was walking around the area. It's very cute shop that has a donut counter and then also a menu for the diner area. The first time I went I ordered a two-egg plate with hash browns. I thought the hash browns were so crispy and cooked well. The donut had more air in it than usual donuts. The next time I came I got the same thing and realized that it is a pattern for them to cook requested over-medium eggs as if I asked for over easy (it's pretty much all yolk what they give). I was also disappointed that their $1 up charge for a side of fruit means a really small amount of fruit. Why pay more for fruit if you only get like 6 pieces? My partner ordered the bacon, eggs and hash browns and the bacon was dry while everything else was just fine. The toast is already buttered too and they put wayyyyyy too much butter on it. So I would recommend asking them not to put the butter on for you if you're trying to be healthy-ish. We also didn't appreciate that two tables came in after us but still got their food before us. That took us by surprise and kind of annoyed us. I also wish they would itemize the receipts better. It is unclear what they were charging us for when we got the bill. read more
