Delicious food!! Sometimes there's a wait but it's always worth it, they have redone the menu a few years ago and all the new dishes are fantastic

Corned beef hash and eggs with breakfast potatoes

Servers were very nice and let us sit on the patio. Food was great. Corned beef hash made in house with veggies mixed in. Eggs just the way we like them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The view from the restaurant across the Columbia is awesome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Banana waffle we destroyed.

Service was great! The food was delicious and great portions! My husband and I like to share an entree as our appetites are smaller these days and this was perfect for that. We ordered a bowl of fruit which was exceptionally small for the price, but it tasted delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The chicken theme throughout the restaurant was very cute![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent comfort food with a cozy vibe[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came here solo on a Sunday around 11 am, so it was packed, but the staff did a great job keeping up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender was knowledgeable and thorough, which was much appreciated!

Chile Relleno Breakfast Tacos were so worth the wait. 5 stars for the mole alone.

Any decent breakfast spot is guaranteed to be crowded on a weekend in Hood River, and Egg River, due to its proximity to downtown, is definitely on that list. Still our wait wasn't terribly long, and was worth it. My Chile Relleno breakfast tacos were an absolute flavor bomb, with the chorizo stuffed peppers playing off the mole rojo like long lost friends, smoky with just the right amount of heat. Nice portion size, too. As you probably guessed, you can get almost any egg-influenced dish you can think of here, from scrambles to omelets to Benedict's and beyond, and it all looked so good coming out of the kitchen (we were sitting right by it). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is definitely cozy inside, like a small cabin with a diner vibe, with a bunch of wooden tables and booths scattered throughout and kitschy signs and tchotchkes tucked into the corners, but it is definitely cheery.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I mentioned, it gets pretty crowded on weekends and parking is tight, so get there early.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite the hubbub, our server was efficient and friendly, so there's a very good chance we'll be back. Count me as a happy customer.

    Keep driving!!

Average diner. French toast Average. $3 scrambled egg uninspired. Scrambled needed flavor so requested salsa. Offered two kinds and settled on Pico de gallo. Server (on her own) went ahead and brought the other one too. When we got the bill were not only surprised to see $1.50 for the pico (no mention of an additional charge) but also the salsa the server brought on her on. Complained to staff. One said they would remove it but the male waiter said no. Inflation!! So, we took it of his tip. Principle!! Definitely enjoyed Bette's Place much better!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Absolutely amazing food and super attentive service in a fun restaurant with a view of Mt Adams in the distance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was superb and I highly recommend giving them a try for breakfast. I had the veggie Benedict with avocado with perfect poached eggs. My husband had the chili rellenos tacos which were out-of-this-world scrumptious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating inside or out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking available also across the street.

    Bloody Hangover

Great find! Large portions, good flavor, and delicious Bloody Hangover. Staff was friendly and attentive.

    Definitely not marionberry pie

Plenty of parking in a lot across the street and pleasant staff. I'm sure the breakfast experience is amazing but I ended up here in the evening. Food was ok but ordered a slice of marionberry pie and was given strawberry rhubarb. When I pointed it out to our waitress, her exact response was "But the cook said it was marionberry." Not the end of the world, but definitely annoying as it was not what I ordered and also didn't taste good.

    Do they take reservations?

No, they do not. This is a breakfast/lunch joint that is primarily known for their breakfasts. I have always gone a little bit late for breakfast or early for lunch and still had breakfast. I haven't had a problem getting in.

The food was delicious; each of us ordered something different and everyone was very happy with their meal. I got the salmon fish and chips, and it was SO good. I'm so used to fish and chips being made with cod or other white fish, so this was a fun change. Despite being a pub, this place is family-friendly. The kid's menu was perfect for my little nephew, and my sister was very pleased with the quality of his burger meat and the fact that you can sub fries for veggie sticks for kiddos. You don't see that sort of thing very often. We had a great time!

We decided to sit inside, please be aware that it might be a bit cold depending where the air vent is located in conjunction to where you're sitting. The service was okay. My husband ordered his burger with bacon but it didn't come with bacon. However, we were charged for the bacon on his burger.

Service was prompt, and the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant. It's kind of funny because you'll have people in suits having a business meeting over dinner, and other regular hotel guests just dining casually in t-shirts and jeans. On both occasions, I was dining with another family member. When we were there for dinner, we were having a really hard time deciding what to order, and our server let us know that there was a 2-for deal going on for some of the pastas. Each of us had been considering a pasta, so that solved that problem! Both were delicious, and we had leftovers to take home. When we were there for breakfast, I was feeling adventurous and ordered the lox and bagel, which I've only had a very basic version of one other time. It was soooo good, and very filling. Several other options on the breakfast menu also sounded really good, but I'm glad I went with this for the experience. I'd definitely eat here again if/when I stay in the hotel again. Since there's no free breakfast offered by the hotel, they give you vouchers for the restaurant, so you can get a pretty good deal on a meal.

Definitely the standout of the table for me. Service was friendly and expedient, which I always appreciate in the morning when everyone is trying to get caffeinated and out the door. My companions ordered the protein bowl, which was a hearty mix of grains and grilled vegetables with your choice of tofu or egg. It leaned a little bland flavor-wise, but it did exactly what it needed to do: provided a filling, healthy base for a full day of activity in Hood River. Not every dish was a knockout, but overall it was a very solid breakfast spot with fair pricing at about $18 per dish.

Everyone else is already finishing up their drinks and meals. Wanting just one drink after a long day, I head to the bar! My wife asks me to get her one too. Here's where it gets bizarre. Kickstand has a bar...well, it looks like a bar. But what I found out is that it's just for looks because it doesn't act like a bar. I thought ordering two cocktails and paying for my drinks would be easy, like it is at every bar in town. But the bartender, I mean employee standing behind a bar, asked if I was with the large group. I stated, "yes, I was." Then she proceeded to tell me that the drinks would be on someone's tab. But I showed up late...I don't know what's happening. I don't know who's paying for the "tab". I just wanted to buy two drinks and walk away. But that wasn't allowed at Kickstand. Then another employee walks up and attempts to take my drink order. Super confused, I tell her the employee standing behind the bar just took my drink order. And then we proceeded down the tab conversation again. The second employee said because "we" were a party of 8 or more, I couldn't pay for my own drinks and I they would have to put it on the party's tab. But again, I don't know who owns the tab. If it was the woman having the birthday, I didn't want to add to her bill...on her birthday. Then they suggested I "could just Venmo" the party girl. No! I want to just order two drinks and have Kickstand take my money. Why wouldn't they just take my money?! The place was dead tonight, other than the 5 or so small daycarel families, sitting at their own tables, that made up the "party". I canceled my drink order and walked away out of protest and principal. When asked if I was with the big party, I should have said no I guess. Lesson leaned for next time, if there is a next time. Kickstand, you're so difficult and frustrating!!

The atmosphere is casual and inviting but the food, both quality and presentation, steals the show. We tried a gin cocktail that was as beautiful as it was inventive. We followed this with the brussel sprouts salad which was lightly roasted but still tasted and looked green in the most delightful way, with some kind of light dressing that celebrates the vegetables in the salad medley without overpowering them. We took Calvin's recommendation and ordered the special which was a three mushroom fettuccine: it was perfection. The pasta was served al dente, the mushrooms included shitake, hedgehog, and one other and all had a unique flavor that stood out with each bite. The pasta sauce was buttery but somehow almost effervescent, embracing but not suffocating, with just enough cheese to know it's there but not enough to have it overpower the dish. At this point we didn't think the meal could get any better but then we ordered the pear, huckleberry, and pluot sorbet made at Celilo and we're now committed to coming back. The sorbet featured locally sourced Bosc pears and that flavor may have been my favorite as it was unlike any other sorbet I have ever tasted. All were sweet but complex. They have a nice patio area with a few (4-5) tables that are covered. We got there super early and opted to sit outside since the weather was so nice. The service was fantastic and our waitress was super friendly. We discovered that she has ties to KC so I always love that. I started with an Adeline blackberry sour. It's pretty to look at and so delicious to drink. Sours in Oregon are hands down the best. I wish we had more of it in KC but I highly recommend that you get sours and ciders if you're in the PNW. For lunch I ordered the Club Sandwich: Sweetheart ham, hickory-smoked turkey, Tillamook white cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon; topped with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo. It normally comes on sourdough but I swapped it out for ciabatta. First off, it's a HUGE club sandwich. Lots of meat that had amazing flavor. Not some sad deli sandwich at all. The ciabatta had great chew and complemented the sandwich perfectly. No complaints here! Did I eat it all? Yes, and that was a great plan because it kept me going for the next 24 hours that ended up being a cluster that resulted in no food being available. Sandwiches come with chips or a garden salad but I opted for a different side with an up charge. Let's talk about the Oregon Blue Salad: spring mix, dried cranberries, honeycrisp apples, Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue crumbles, and maple candied walnuts; tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette. So GOOD! You can get it by itself and it would make a great meal. Everything was so fresh. Again, not a single complaint. If you are ever in the area, please stop in. Everything was amazing and I can't wait until I return. Double Mountain is on my list to come back to! Highly recommend!
