It's a great small town burger spot. In the summertime you could eat outside in the sun. breakfast is good.

$74.00 - 3 people for breakfast. Served on paper plates with a blending of plastic utensils to use. And fancy plastic cups. Sausage omelette....... GIRL! This three egg omelet, Excuse me. This three egg sausage omelette consisted of one singular sausage link. This lonely singular individual sausage had been sliced and diced into 4 pieces and GENEROUSLY sprinkled inside my omelette with peppers and onions. The sausage in this Omelette had me feeling as if I had Gone fishing. "Ya catch anything?" No! Few bites here and there. Overall, the omelette wasn't bad, but I do expect a $20 omelette to represent its worth. Served with toast and hash whites ... I mean hash browns. These hash browns were definitely more of ... clash browns . Stale, soggy,and unpleasant.. just like the missing sausage this hash was missing the brown and crispy desirable and necessary elements. The next item up forbid was the breakfast sandwich!!! For I did not order this sandwich nor did I try it being the lack of quantity and volume of sandwich. But....GIRL!!! she was dainty and dry like sausage she was all alone. Like a lonely, single child with no siblings to play with à la carte. No sides.. again lacking representation of price the sandwich needed a PR team. Winner winner, chicken dinner, THE PANCAKE!!! For I did not order those pancakes either, but I did have a bite being that there were two pancakes à la cart with no sides, consisting of coconut and pineapple. Best pancake I've ever had. Wildly overpriced... One cup of Baileys and coffee One milkshake- The shake had this shaved ice quality about it. Little ice shards throughout it with each sip. Outside seating was nice with multiple extra large picnic tables to choose from next to a little creek of water. Service was fine. When I mentioned to the cashier that the price seems like highway robbery he met me with a defensive response and found it very unappreciated and told me that they are the end of the road. And each individual does get a menu to look at. No His response was unusual and interesting to think about and interpret. Does you're the end of the road mean you can charge and put out any quality for any price and it's all good because you're at the end of the road and the only option? I understand tough times /economy/price of goods/profit margins. But price should represent what you receive. If you like casinos or playing cards this is the place for you. Really cute! Great spot for a spot to grab a bite. I wanted all the baked goods but we had plenty at the ranch to look forward to up in Snowden. I ordered the Chicken Salad w fried chicken breast. Delicious. Incredible in house ranch dressing. Too many onions only issue. Son had burger & fries. Enjoyed it. Hubby has but on wheat. Enjoyed that also. Huckleberry lemonade FRESH and so tasty. Glad we stopped in on our way home from Trout Lake Abby. Give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised. Always a great time at this little local joint. I admit I've only ever been for breakfast but that's been a great start to the day! I'm not a big fan of pancakes but the Huckleberry pancakes here are outrageous. I think a decent pancake MUST have a crispy edge on it and these do so quite perfectly! This place is a regular once-a-year requirement when we have our family reunion in the summer. Wouldn't be a Trout Lake visit without it. Really want to give the burgers a try, not gonna lie...now where's my bike?? read more

My cousin recommended we meet here for brunch before going out to the lake and this was a great spot! They offer indoor and outdoor seating and the gentleman working was super nice and had great recommendations on the food. Amazing little gem ! We have literally driven 3 1/2 hrs before just to have breakfast there. Huckleberry French toast, eggs& bacon all delicious as well as much more on the menu. Simple, not fancy, just delicious local cafe in a beautiful, picturesque town. Locally owned by a very nice , friendly couple. read more

We first stopped in at the Latte Stand (cash only though there is an ATM in the Mechanic's shop $4 charge). White Mocha Huckleberry Latte, why yes, please! Cute knick-knacky vendor items for sale (I bought a rhinestone tiara that spells out Happy Birthday). The Cafe & gas station both take credit/debit cards. We enjoyed breakfast here two days in a row. If you are a big hash-brown person you won't be happy. They have many offerings. I had the same thing both days and it was very tasty, the 3-egg Omelet with tomatoes, onions, bacon, and cheddar. Delish! Everyone is very, very nice. BUT... the second day we were there and with a different waitress, I noticed I was charged $2 more for the identical plate of food. So watch out for that! Still though, would definitely visit both businesses here next time! And I won't be dieting so I'll definitely be ordering huckleberry pancakes! read more

Excellent hidden gem. Good service. It wasn't obvious, but the protocol is to sit down at an outside table (shade provided by trees and/or large umbrellas) and someone will bring out menus and water and take orders. Huckleberry lemonade and huckleberry shake were refreshing. Mount Adams chicken sandwich (grilled chicken, fried mushrooms, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, some kind of sauce--1000 Island or Russian style) was delicious. It smelled so good, I dove in before remembering to take a photo. Companion's Mount Adams burger was "the best burger I've ever eaten along the Pacific Crest Trail!" They were out of sweet potato fries, so I reluctantly settled for onion rings (too often greasy, from my experience with other places) instead. The onion rings here were perfect! (Not limp, not greasy, fried at the proper temperature in fresh oil.) We also got a huckleberry roll to take home. read more

So there's this guy named Meter who was pinch cheffing cause the owners were on vacation or something. When we walked in - we only got in because he forgot to lock the door as he was intending to close at 6. He smiled and said "sure, come on in - can you lock that door behind you?" He proceeded to cook for my kids and I like our very own gourmet made to order roadside private chef. The food was spectacular and he made it all with a genuinely friendly and conversational ease that felt like we'd stopped by an old friends place who just happened to own a diner. The place was rustic and quaint with a down home atmo complete with picnic tables in the backyard. My kids and I had a blast and the plates were cleaned. We are far from home and on a long road trip with many stops behind and in front - but I can tell you that this tiny spot in this tiny little off the beaten path town of Trout Lake, Washington is well worth the trip. I have never witnessed such a rude owner. Our AirBnB hosts recommended this place. I have NO idea why. The "food" is processed and frozen and way overpriced. My huckleberry mimosa was the cheapest sparkling white wine possible and processed orange juice with a few freezer burned huckleberries plopped in. The pancakes had to be from a premade batter with the same huckleberries. I saw a package of purchased Sysco biscuits, which explains how poorly baked they were, and the sausage gravy was akin to slightly chilled glue. We wanted to pay and got tired of waiting after waiting quite a while for cold food. So, I went in to pay as did another customer. It was a bit crowded and he chose to sit at the bar on a stool while we waited for the cashier to be free. The owner (I'm pretty sure that's who she was and seems to be after reading some other reviews) yelled at him to not sit at the counter. The counter was cluttered with purchased pastries placed in pretty serving dishes feigning to be homemade and some packaged stuff like buns and biscuits. He agreeably moved, but I retorted back pointing out there are stools at the bar and any normal person would assume you're allowed to sit on a stool at a bar of a restaurant. After throwing a bit more of temper tantrum and lashing out at employees, one for not charging a dollar for a to-go container, she turned around, shoved a cake back to where she supposedly thought it was, and yelled about the customer who sat at the counter moving things and not being "respectful." Respectful!? She's one to talk. So, I once again retorted back that the other customer didn't touch anything on the counter and that she is being disrespectful. Again, no response. We got to the cashier to pay, with her still throwing a temper tantrum, and the cashier motioned and quietly told use to ignore her. Seems this is her usual attitude. read more

This is a hidden gem! Had my first huckleberry margarita which was outstanding with my garden burger topped with mushrooms and Swiss cheese! One talented lady did it all by herself, she was the bartender and cook! Really great cook! I was impressed and she was super sweet too! read more

This restaurant should be renamed Gouge the Hikers. They must take advantage of their location as the closest cafe to Mount Adams. You essentially get a heat from frozen burger - ie not a good one - for $15 to 20. Nothing like farm to table, which is what I would expect for that very high price. The bathrooms were also dirty. You can do much better in Hood River just down the road, honestly. read more

Small mom and pops cafe on the road to Mt. Adams. Seating was limited to outdoors due to Corona virus restrictions but it was a gorgeous day and we had an enjoyable breakfast. Staff prepares orders one at a time so it took a little time to get our food but we were not disappointed. Staff was friendly, food portions were fair for the price. Would definitely eat there again. What a sweet, warm, welcoming little spot. We felt like we were in a friend's backyard at a picnic. It was so lovely to sit outside in the spacious yard! The promise of a huckleberry shake was what initially lured us here, and it sure was worth the stop! The Reuben was also good, quite basic but satisfying. Service was attentive and friendly. My good friend and I stopped here for breakfast. We have eaten here many times in the last 10ish years or so but it had been a while. The waitress that was working was very kind and attentive to the local group of gentlemen having there morning coffee. However she treated the rest of the customers terribly. She was so rude to us, and an elderly couple that came in and then proceeded to talk badly about them after they left to the local guys. It was so overpriced! My tiny bit of scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of bacon was $12 and they nickel and dime you for everything from to go boxes to running a credit card. And to top it all off my good friend got food poisoning and ended up projectile vomiting on the way down to Hood River. This would not have happened had the old owner still had it. It has gone so down hill. Literally go anywhere else. read more

In the last two months we have eaten there three times. I think the key with this place is to realize what it is, the only café in a very small town. The good: 1. Idyllic setting with an out door dining area by a little creek. 2. Decent selection of breakfast and lunch items. Interesting, home made deserts. 3. Beer on tap 4. Nice people 5. The ambience of a place that welcomes both locals and travelers. It is fun to see the through hikers, motorcyclists, gravel grinders and forest service personnel all in one place. The meh: 1. The quality of the food really varies between visits. For example, some times the fries are fresh and hot and some times they are cold. 2. The service is very informal and it isn't really clear where you are meant to order. I'll chalk some of this to COVID, but you think it would have been figured out by now. 3. The expense. I get it that this is the only game in town, but you are paying the same prices, if not more, than a nicer restaurant experience in Hood River or White Salmon. 4. The grunge. I would say they need to close for a day and spend some time deep cleaning the restaurant and bathrooms, and pressure washing the outside structure, hard surfaces and tables. This would go miles for creating a more favorable feeling. The bad: 1. This would be solidly four stars if the food was more consistent and they cleaned up the place a bit, but I just don't get the vibe that it matters to the staff or owners. Half the customers are transient and won't be back and the other half have no other choice. Maybe the sense of "ambivalence" is the closest thing I could think of as a "bad". read more

I have stopped in before when I am passing through and LOVE the food. Today though I don't know if I came across an employee having a bad day or just in general a bad attitude. I walked in mid morning to order a breakfast sandwich to go which I've done in the past. The lady walked in and quickly told me to sit where ever I'd like to and walked out. She seemed busy so I stood by the register until she came back in and asked her should I sit down to make an order or is it easier to do it here? She replied yelling, "I said to take a seat I have other people waiting for their orders," and walked out. I was taken back and tried to tell her that I was trying to make her job easier. Another guy had walked in as well when this happened and we both looked at each other. I asked him did that really just happen? He replied "this place is good but sometime the staff can be sh**show." We both left without ordering food. I never post this stuff but this the worst service I have ever had. I'll stop in again when I am out there but if this gal is working I will turn around and walk out. read more

My husband came in here for lunch today. Went to the front and they told him he could sit inside or outside and they would bring him a menu. He sat outside at a table while the servers passed him several times and never received help. A couple came 15 minutes after him and was given a menu and waters almost immediately. This place is cute, the staff are nice, and the huckleberry milkshake was decent, but the fries and burger were--and please know that we are not food snobs by any stretch of the imagination--literally the worst we've ever been served at a restaurant. The fries were cold, waxy, and chewy, and the burger was also cold, chewy, and dry. Somehow the burger managed to be both over-cooked and stone cold. The whole meal tasted like someone's forgotten order from an hour ago. We did mention something to our server, whose response was "Okay, so you're done with your plate?" After a long weekend on Mt. Adams, my car and I all agreed upon reaching the parking lot that we needed burgers ASAP. Considering how starving we were, I don't think we were a hard crowd to please. I ordered the Vulture burger with fries. The ordering process was a little awkward and slow but it happened. We opted to sit outside on a beautiful day. They had a nice green lawn, some firepits, and some tables. Our food came out quickly. The fries were good, but the burger had the biggest slice of raw onion inside! It was at least twice as thick as the patty and took away from the burger. The burger was mediocre at best, but the worst part of my dining experience was when I reached to pull napkins out of the caddy on the table and at least 3 bugs came flying out and onto my food. I'm really usually not grossed out by stuff like this but that was pretty disgusting. The next napkin in line also had another one sitting on it. They crawled through my fries. I didn't want to make a fuss about it but I suggest that they keep their utensils and napkins inside until a customer sits down to prevent this from happening again. I will say that their fries and ranch were good, but I expected a lot more from this diner with their prices. The burger with fries and bugs was not worth the $10! read more

This place is an absolute treasure in the heart of trout lake. Everyone who works here is so kind and the food is amazing! I am from a big city and spending time at the Station Cafe allowed me to really stop, rest and enjoy a quiet moment.
