After having been to this place multiple more times I feel I need to update my first review. I'm giving it a full five stars because there are improvements. The tables are now all clean! The reason why there are only one or two waitresses is because there are maybe only five tables occupied during late weekdays when I come there, so I'd say it's adequate staffing. I think the owner and waitresses Emily and Ericka are both helpful and friendly. They do have a dark-roast as well as the regular coffee which might be too weak for some. The food has always been top-notch and I'm particular. Their pancakes are really addicting because they're just a little extra sweet that makes them really delicious and I could eat them every day if I were skinny like years ago! In summary, I think this place is one of the best in my upgraded opinion! And put your name on their Breakfast Club and you'll get about $5 off about every third time you go there! read more

The food was the other disappointment. While the bacon was fine, my pancakes were overcooked on one side; the bottoms had a hard crust, the taste was flat and the middle section and top crumbled. They made me think of the description "corn cakes" as they were not little or fluffy like most pancakes! I requested cheese with my scrambled eggs. That's about the only positive thing I can bring from this review. *Country fried steak was not bad, just a little small. Lacked crispness, but tasted alright. *The benches are so uncomfortable we asked to move *The coffee was terrible, and not because they gave me the wrong coffee roast like they did. *The "extra crispy" hash browns I ordered were about as crispy as apple sauce, not one single speck of seasoning were on them, and tasted so bland I didn't even eat them. *Service was spotty, just didn't feel much attention to detail was present. *They charge 4 dollars for coffee for each person and it was arguably the worst coffee I've ever had. I was there from 11:00 - 11:45 on August 14. The service was terrible. The two waitresses spent 75% of their time flirting with the cooks. The Pepsi product was terrible and I had to go to ask for the drink to be replaced. Then the bacon was so dried out and overcooked (probably from flirting with the waitresses) that my grandson complained. The first time I tried this restaurant was through Door Dash. It is pricey, and the quality of the food doesn't match. I was very underwhelmed with the food. It was not a pleasant experience to eat here on Tuesday. The food was passable but not excellent. The beef on a croissant had no flavor, no season, and dried out from being heated in the microwave. Had to use the bathroom, had to enter a dark room and wait for sensor to turn light on. Then, while I am still in the bathroom, all lights shut off. Had to feel my way to the sink before lights went on again. Then, no paper towels. Then, owner sitting in a booth, and on his lap top, and not wearing a mask the entire time we were there. And finally, we had called the Egg-cetera in downtown Mokena and were told it was open. Drove there and found door was locked. Two other customers did the same, saw them in the parking lot. Called the place on 191st street again and was told the calls for the downtown place are forwarded to them. Maybe a sign could have been posted on the door? read more

This place is good but my husband and I prefer the other location. It's more of a "homey" feel. The waitress was very nice and gave us great service. They do a great job with social distancing. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. I ordered the cream of broccoli soup and my husband had to chicken noodle which we both liked. My husband crossiant sandwich reminded him of a jimmy dean microwave sandwich. My skillet I found to be good but I've had better at other places. read more

Daughter visiting and decided to try EggCetera instead of County Charm for some reason? DO NOT go here on a Sunday morning!!! Not a huge crowd/wait... 10 minutes to seat... then went downhill fast! Waited another 10 minutes for a waitress and coffee... must have been understaffed? i liked my one coffee i got ( never got a refill) in a hour -Waitress was nice but had to walk out after an hour because still waiting for 2 entrees? We did receive 3 cold entrees... eggs and bacon really cold - waffle was lukewarm but tasty with cinnamon butter and no syrup... so waited longer for syrup as waffles got cold .... son started eating pancakes without syrup until he pulled a huge hair out of his mouth...that was last straw... first time my wife wanted to walk out on a meal - how hard is it to have syrup at the table?? read more

Pulled up the parking lot was packed which is a good sign. Walking in you see it's a no thrill restaurant very basic only downside I can see is the lighting very dim. But with that said it means the food must be good. Our server Sandy was very prompt with coffee and water and taking the orders its only open until 3 so the kitchen squeezes alot in a little time. The food could have been warmer but with amount of food the kitchen is producing the quality was excellent so you can't complain read more

Very good food good white Steph but the owner won't get cushions for the benches which are made out of plywood and are hard on your touchas I spoke to him about this six months ago and he said he was getting them they were on order or he was going to order them but he hasn't and it's not enjoyable to sit on a plywood bench I asked the waitress if she's would speak to him about it and she said she has a lot of her customers complain for that reason I'm only gonna give it three stars it deserves five for the food and the wait staff but the owner is chasing me away I would be there every other week if it was a comfortable place to sit. Nothing special -just moved to the area and was looking for a breakfast/lunch place around here. Decided on EggCetera. I ordered a steak skillet which is something I really like usually. It was bland, the meat was not charred. Just very plain and not much taste. For 2 adults, 1 child, and 1 fruit cup for our 1 year old it was $46! That's way too much for breakfast. We said after we left we wouldn't come back because the prices are just too high for mediocre food. The floors were pretty dirty too from previous patrons. The floor hasn't been swept. I felt bad because my disgusted threw things on the floor so I picked it up with a napkin and then I noticed the floor was really dirty. We had a nice waitress. read more

I always order the same thing every time I place a to go order. I'm all about the meat lovers omelette. You can't go wrong with sausage, bacon, and ham all in one omelette. They are not stingy with the amount of ingredients, which I love. The omelette even comes with a healthy side of crispy hash browns. They whip these things up quick, it's always done in ten minutes and the hostess is always eager to greet and assist you. I highly recommend this location. You won't be let down. read more

This is the second location for EggCetera Cafe - the original is also in Mokena and has been for 10 years. This is the newer one and has been around for about 3. I had no idea, it was a first for both my husband and myself. I liked it and probably should go back before I write a review as I really debated between 3 stars and 4 stars, 3.75? Maybe? What I really really liked were the Pumpkin pancakes and that you could get a short stack of them and have other breakfast stuff if you ordered the Pumpkin pancake special. I don't know about you but I always have the Savory? Sweet? dilemma at any breakfast place. You literally get to have both with this fabulous special. I would highly recommend those delish pancakes and my eggs were great and I adored their turkey sausage. I also was shocked to get hash browns with my special and I upgraded to have green peppers and onions mixed in and they were delicious, not the shredded kind of hash browns which are so boring and tasteless in my opinion. The English muffin came buttered, I really like mine dry and hate it when they don't ask but just assume everyone wants it buttered. I hate to send them back so I just ate it. The cranberry juice was nothing special, not real high quality. But the coffee was just hot brown water. I could not perceive any actual coffee flavor. Now I know I like it strong but this was too weak even for my husband. There were definitely more good things than bad and I would come back for sure so I guess I will stay with the four stars. A great under-appreciated little breakfast joint in Mokena. We are moving to the area & were looking for a brunch place after scoping out our new house & found this gem. Coffee- fairly weak. Food- amazing! Great portion sizes & lovely flavors & wide array of options! My father-in-law got the blueberry pancakes full-stack & had to take leftovers home that lasted for 2 days! I really enjoyed my stuffed berry french toast with tons of blackberries, raspberries & strawberries on top, with a strawberry cream cheese filling. Yum! My husband had an omelet with bacon, avocado, cheese, etc. & was very impressed. We will definitely be back & are super psyched to already have a breakfast place to come to regularly :) read more

My husband and I ended up here on Saturday morning because we couldn't get in to another restaurant we tried. We were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. Our server, Kim, was THE BEST! She was attentive and accommodating. My husband has special dietary restrictions and the kitchen staff prepared his food exactly as he asked. I had a "create your own omelette" with corned beef, tomatoes and mushrooms. Hash browns and toast (or pancakes) are included. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful - I took home a good portion of my food for another 2 breakfasts. They also serve lunch, we will be back for that. After dining at or ordering from this tasty breakfast nook more than once over the past several weeks, I've come to discover that everything about it is mostly good. The service is decent, though not above and beyond...but the food is outstanding. It's rare that I can find a breakfast locale that serves amazing corned beef hash along with amazing biscuits and gravy, does a mean lunch menu, AND knows how to poach an egg. (Usually. This is trickier with to-go orders, so I don't fault them for that.) While I wasn't thrilled with their Caesar salad dressing, the huge portion of grilled chicken and fresh Romaine lettuce more than made up for it. The Santa Fe grilled chicken sandwich was awesome. The Reuben was equally as delightful. The soups-potato with bacon, broccoli and cheese, & chicken noodle all rocked my proverbial world. Although our first trip to this restaurant started off rocky, it has redeemed itself and has become our favorite breakfast spot so far in the Mokena area. The place is never crowded, which is great because the servers are wonderful and attentive to serving just your family! The food is good and very filling.
