Chicken and Waffles
Felita M.

Loved this place! Visiting family and my cousin-in-law suggested BLT or chicken and waffles. Baby!!! I ate all my food! The chicken was piping hot and was flavorful. True drummettes. Not chicken strips. The waffle was cooked to perfection; hot and crispy. I prefer mine cooked a little "harder" but I'm a convert now. The rest of the party enjoyed their meal too. I was too busy licking my lips to even notice quite frankly! Oh, and their coffee is good too! Not some watery brown goop like other places.

I enjoyed it I was so hungry it forgot to take a picture prior to eating and I totally forgot a picture of my daughters Chicken and Waffles.. my my Strawberry Banana and Cream French Toast with eggs, bacon and grits was good!! My waitress was really sweet.. It was pretty empty and the food was fresh, fast and good..

Burnt chicken fried too hard

Had food delivered waffles with fried chicken wings and a side of grits. The menu side 6 chicken wings not 6 pieces of chicken which were wing digs and they fried them so hard I couldn't eat them. As a chef myself I would never send out a product that didn't look good so you know it didn't taste good.

I walked in today for the first time and tried the shaved steak skillet and lemon blueberry pancakes. They were both incredibly delicious. The staff was very nice and accommodating also. I will definitely be back.

Flavored creamers. Always nice to have!

It was a good breakfast. We got in quick during a time I thought we would have had to wait so that may have been a fluke that weekend morning. It is the old Egg & I and they changed it up a little bit on the inside but not much. Parking can be an issue but there is decent sized lot and if you don't mind a walk it extends down the store fronts. The menu is improved. More choices and variety. I'm still not drinking the Kale juice no matter how cute the chalkboard sign is! He had the bananas foster french toast which was good. A little bit more caramel like my pumpkin pecan waffle and it would have been just as good as the waffle. I actually ordered the pumpkin pecan pancakes and a waffle showed up. I took it as I was between which I wanted anyway. The waitress had the kitchen make the pancakes and I was able to take them home. Overall a good breakfast and a good price with nice selection. Can't beat that.

Stuffed French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon.

This is a restaurant that took the place of Egg and I. Same owner and workers. When you walk into the restaurant it's dark, the food was just ok, there was nothing that stood out. I will not be returning to this location.

Meat Lovers Skillet

Great Service, food was delectable. Hash browns were quite scrumptious and properly seasoned. The very berry stuffed french toast was excellent, and if i do say so myself, quite very berry. The atmosphere was warm and cozy; and the music choice was perfection. The meat lovers skillet was also very delightful and stuffed with meat. Beginning my day here with a meal genuinely improved my day, overall 10/10 experienced.

Food wasn't good

Where is the manager at this place ? I normally get breakfast.. but yesterday I decided to do lunch .. I ended up getting a Chicken Caesar salad.. the lettuces was spoiled and the chicken was burned.. I called back to speak to a manager only to find out she only works on the weekends .. i have both my receipts and full chicken Caesar salad minus 2 bites .. I asked for exchange of food .. they told me no . But they will make another salad using same lettuces.. at this point I want my money back .. and someone really needs to do something about the staff here .. and why isn't there a manager on duty at all times ?

Best waitress ever, very professional and she was training as she worked the crowed room. Food was on point I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon croquettes and ranch potatoes. Definitely worth revisiting the next time my Saturday is free in the morning.

Good Lemonade

The service here is well, look out for Brenda!! She is very charismatic and out going when handling my food. Definitely coming again and bringing others along !

I wanted to start with spinach artichoke dip. There was none. So, I ordered carrot and black bean tacos. The tacos were a good backup. Those who lean towards vegetarian would like them. I must say that I was expecting some heat from the jalapeños. For my main dish, I had the shrimp and grits. It took a few swallows before the flavor kicked in. The sauce was tasty, but was maybe a notch above mildly seasoned. I have a feeling that the tomatoes in the recipe added a little acidity. With the addition of spinach, this dish landed in gourmet territory. From what I gather, the restaurant has been under new management for a few years. It feels like they are working out kinks. I will give them a few months before I try them again.

Honestly, speaking, I wish I had better things to say however, I have to be honest. My reservation…read morewas at four. The doors were locked until 415 and that was because I called. I'm not really gonna talk about the ambience, because for me it wasn't there, but that is not the basis of my scoring. The old-fashioned made by our waiter was good, excellent, perfect. We wanted a margarita, but they let us know that they did not have the materials needed to make it. They also did not have the ingredients to make a few starters and entrées on the menu so their limited menu became even more limited. The food, we ordered crabcakes, and a colossal honey glazed shrimp. The crabcakes came out and they were flat, they looked like what was supposed to be one crabcake broken into three. The shrimp came out and instead of having colossal shrimp we had small shrimp, maybe even baby shrimp. We addressed the concern with the shrimp and they said they're not going to charge us for it. With our pasta came a side salad, the salad and the salad dressing, which was a lemon vinaigrette, was good. When we received the pasta, there was only four pieces of sausage, the chicken was unseasoned and the sauce was cheese sauce with hot sauce added, no other seasoning. Nothing about the pasta was Nola.

My last visit was when they were still on Old Western Ave in Blue Island--way overdue for a return. Let's start with the food--absolutely delicious. The three of us kicked things off with the Cast Iron Cornbread, and trust me, don't skip it. Perfectly done and a great start to the meal. For mains, we went with the Pitmaster's N'awlins Gumbo, Hickory Buttered BBQ Shrimp, and Burnt Ends. Every dish was spot on--flavorful, well-executed, and clearly made with care. The restaurant itself is pristine--clean, polished, and classy without feeling stuffy. Service was just as strong. Our server, Nick, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Safe to say, it will NOT be another 30 years before my next visit. Highly recommend.

My coworkers and I would go to the old location from time to time. Their new location opened in 2019, but this is the first time that I got to check it out. The restaurant is gorgeous! One thing that I noticed was all staff that I encountered generally looked happy. The host was super friendly and offered vegan or gluten free menus if we needed. The person that seated us also was running food and ensuring tables were kept clean. Since it had been so long since I dined here, the menu appeared smaller. I appreciated that our server Adam explained some of his favorites. The cocktail that I got was excellent. The cornbread appetizer was huge. I went with the gumbo and it was full of meat pieces. It was really flavorful. Adam was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Parking lot is tight, but they also offer valet. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some Louisiana style cusine.
