The atmosphere definitely reminds me of something I'd find in Portland. Most everything has a vegan option which is really nice. There's a few different types of food to try from. My husband got chicken & waffles which was pretty dry. I got the vegan Dan Dan Noodles, the noodles are obviously packaged, but they were clumped together in the bowl like they hadn't fully separated while boiling. The garlic fries were decent, but bring some mouthwash if you've got somewhere to go after. My favorite part of the spicy edamame, but that's pretty hard to mess up. Beers were decent, but not our favorites. In my opinion, for spending over $60 to eat, I'd rather go somewhere else. It was disappointing. read more

My wife and I were heading to a "tried and true" diner in the area. We were also secretly hoping for something new. In Chattanooga, "new" is easy to do. We always enjoyed the old Grocery Bar before it closed, so we were surprised to notice a new sign on the door. Fingers crossed and hungry we stopped into Market South on Main and Long. We were astounded to see so many culinary offerings in one spot. It's a little mall of deliciousness! There is the Green Room for Coffee lovers, Chow Main for Asian food, Italian Pizza and more. We chose the "more"! The Indian food place was AMAZING! The service was great, the heat on the spice was just right, and the price didn't generate any heartburn. COVID compliant? Yes! I first have to thank a fellow Yelper for recommending this place to me. Had it not been for her, I would not have had this magical experience. Now...onto the review. The location of this place is aesthetic and spacious. I was taken aback at the variety of different culinary dishes that were available for consumption! Thankfully, the calming ambiance made it easy for me to think clearly and make an executive decision to try out not one, not two, but THREE different pizza slices(as seen in the photo). I decided to go by the waitress's recommendation and try the Eggplant Pizza, Margherita Pizza, and Tie-Die Pizza. I. Was. NOT. Disappointed! The pizza before consumption already looked delicious, so I knew I was in for a good time! What amazed me about each one was the foundational crust that complimented the light, fluffy toppings. The flavor was as close to Italy as I will get (for the time being). My friends each had a different plate, and by the reactions and responses to them eating, they enjoyed it as well. To top it all off, the customer service we received was excellent. Our waitress provided thorough recommendations from each available cuisine. She was consistent in making sure we had everything we needed. My overall experience could not have been any better! My wife and I stopped in for breakfast before Oktoberfest. We both got coffee, a bagel with a smear, and latkas. The bagel was good with a healthy smear of herb cream cheese. The latkas were not what I expected, but good nonetheless. The coffee was weak. Extremely weak. It looked like tea. I'll go back again if I'm in the area, but the coffee needs a boost. These opinions are based on 3 seperate visits. ° Indian ° Large selection of authentic dishes on the menu that look and sound very promising but the food itself is odd. The Indian flavors and spices are muted. For example the Makhani tasted like lasagna sauce and Vindaloo tasted like vegetable soup. I never had Indian "airplane" food but this is what I'd imagine it to taste like. The naan is alright. Spice levels are extremely low (The most spicy items on menu are less spicy than Tabasco Sauce) ° Pizza ° Not bad. But not worth $4-5 a slice. ° Asian ° Once again, the Asian flavors are heavily downplayed. Everything tastes the same: overcooked, doused in way too much soy sauce and sugar. The exception here are the soup dishes, they are actually good. Once again spice levels extremely low. Note: Both the Indian and Asian restaurant serve the exact same rice. Fantastic food hall with an attached brewery. The brewery, Five Wits Brewing is already making a splash in the Chattanooga brewing community with outstanding beers. Every beer on the menu is very solid. You can easily find a beer to pair with anything on the Market South menu, which is broad. Grabbed some grub outside @ Korean pop up outside, sat inside at the 5wits brewing station and had a blast. Ordered drinks with them and a few other app. Took awhile to get one of them (due to computers being down) & Kaylee took care of the all the food bought inside. This place is a pleasant surprise and mash up of foods! Nothing about this concept makes sense until you try it. Chinese, indian and pizza.... bring it on. We ordered crab Rangoon egg rolls, samosas and General Tsos chicken with brussel sprouts. General Tsos was the best- flavorful sprouts and crispy chicken. Service was very friendly and knowledgable, but a little slow. We came in at 11am and left at 12:15. (the flavors are amazing although not completely authentic) It seems like a lot of variety but think of it like a bit of a food court with server options. You can take a table in the corner and get some work done or you can park on the sofa and wait for friends to arrive. There's an outdoor start-up kitchen that rotates new food every few months or so, what a great idea! If you have a group of friends and no one knows what they want to eat, they are sure to find something here. VEGAN options abound! Our first visit here and was blown away at how flavorful and well done the food is and excellent service! They have three different menus: Sichuan Chinese, Roman style pizza, and very authentic Indian. We tried one from each menu and each entree was very unique, but authentic, and spot on with flavor. The food is a bit spicy for those who are not spice lovers but the waitress did an excellent job providing details on spice levels and recommendations. The Indian entrees are a create-your-own style, the pizza was incredibly fresh and full of flavor and fresh ingredients, and the General Tso's was actually one of the best I've had. The environment is also very nice, casual but vibey. Love the interior lighting and decor, feels industrial modern. I have been craving decent Indian and Chinese food, and found myself pleasantly surprised at the fare in this sleek, hip space. The dining room is spacious and modern, waitstaff was attentive and friendly. There is also a bar on the other side, which has an incredible happy hour and a low-key, casual vibe. There are also pop-up restaurants on occasion which offer interesting global cuisines at a decent price. I planned our first morning in Chattanooga so that we could specifically have breakfast at Eggman Bagelry based on the photos and reviews, what a huge disappointment! I ordered the "Hot Chicken" with the Russian dressing on the side. I ordered dressing on the side specifically because of the sugar content of the dressing, I have to watch sugar content so that I do not get sick. When the bagel came, it was very thin but the dressing was in a cup on the side so I took a bite. It tasted a bit off. I took the top off the bagel sandwich and the dressing was on the sandwich! We called the waitress over and explained the situation. She was very apologetic and said she would have it made over. I kept my tray so I could eat my potato latkes (not latkes BTW, just a battered and fried potato). While we waited, another person came and gave us a coupon for a free regular bagel and apologized for our trouble (the wait staff was very polite). The waitress finally brought my sandwich, my boyfriend had finished his breakfast. I picked up the bagel half (sandwiches are cut in half) and my hand was instantly covered in hot sauce! The hot sauce was dripping from the bagel onto the paper of the tray. The tray was soaked! The entire bagel sandwich was saturated with hot sauce!! This was not how the sandwich had been served the first time around. Apparently, the cook was upset about having to re-make the sandwich and had chosen to take it out on the customer! I used every napkin on our table to try and soak up the hot sauce so that I could eat some of the sandwich. I like spicy food but this was inedible! My boyfriend also generally loves spicy food, the spicier the better, and he could not eat the chicken! My boyfriend's bagel was not fresh and was thinner than what we buy from the grocery store. The taste was edible but not worth ordering again. We paid $50 for two bagel sandwiches, one that was not edible, a cup of fruit, some fried potatoes, and two coffees. Breakfast would have been better at the Waffle House! BTW, we threw out the free bagel coupon! We would not even think about returning here! read more

Market South is one of those eateries that makes you feel like you've been wasting a lot of time eating at other places while this one existed. It looks like an ex-warehouse refurbished into a food court, but it really is so much more than that. There are three semi-permanent different kitchens inside, but you're seated like a regular restaurant and given one menu - which contains all three of their cuisines. You can order anything you want off the menu - as much or as little as you like - and make your own eclectic meal. There is also an experimental kitchen outside adjacent to the indoor seating area which you may also order off of, but this kitchen is home to a chef team that will not be in residence for long. That means TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! We visited for the purpose of tasting the experimental kitchen's food (currently it's a Korean restaurant called Hahn Mi), but ended up ordering from the Thai restaurant and the Indian restaurant inside as well. We had the Thai beef salad, the dumplings in chili sauce, and the samosas. from Hahn Mi we had the pork wraps and the ramen. Honestly, I cannot choose which one I liked the most, but here's the synopsis: 1. Dumplings in chili sauce - great balance of spicy, umami, and sweet with a generous serving of the sauce and I believe 5-6 dumplings. The cilantro works perfectly to balance the flavors so instead of just straight pain from the spice, it's more like the dumplings have an "attitude". Perfectly portioned and prepared 2. Thai beef salad - this is something I often order whenever I see it available - they can be hit-and-miss, but the one at Market South is a SOLID "hit". The beef comes in a generous portion, it's well-seasoned, in very juicy chunks. It comes on a bed of greens - arugula, cilantro, and other herbs with an extraordinary sauce that, admittedly, is a bit spicy but appropriately so. Even my boyfriend who is extra sensitive to spices ate several helpings. It comes in a large pasta bowl (shallow, but wide) and could easily be a main course or shared between 2-3 people. Easily my favorite thai beef salad I've had in a while. 3. The samosas - they are lamb and potato. They're served on a shallow pasta bowl with a very generous serving of cilantro yogurt chutney which is just AMAZING. It cools everything down around it while acting like a warming force at the same time. If you're not a fan of the flavor of lamb, this one is actually quite mild compared to other dishes - may be worth a try anyway. 4. Korean ramen - I loved this dish. You have the option to add several things to the ramen, and we ended up adding all of them - the kim chi, the pork belly, the egg... everything. The pork belly is always a good choice in Korean food, but this one came as a very healthy serving that was was well-cooked and seasoned. Kim chi is a MUST for korean food, but even folks that are unacquainted with it will find it in good company on this dish. My only critique? The noodles didn't appear to be made by the chef who prepared the dish - aka they were probably packaged. No big deal, but fresh noodles always make a difference with ramen in my opinion 5. The pork belly wraps - wowowowowow! I'm partial to pork belly as any bacon-loving individual is, but of all the pork belly wraps I've enjoyed, these are the best. They're cooked perfectly and come with red bean paste on the wrap (absolutely essential for the flavor profile), plus a slaw of veggies - picked and fresh, it would seem - to top it all off. It was not a meager serving, but I wish we got three more orders, they were so good! Summary: I wasted a lot of time not eating at this restaurant and I can't get it out of my head now that I have. what are you waiting for? Head out right now and get yourself a table! read more

I love the space, but can only give 1 star because the food was disgusting. The noodles were inedible. I kept biting into something woody that tasted bitter. I thought it was whole cloves, but server said the dish contains whole peppercorns. Weird. The spring rolls are supposed to have crab, but it wasnt detectable. They were filled with mushy warm cream cheese. Awful texture. Setup is also very confusing. Food halls usually have counter service at several different restaurants. Here, you sit and order from a menu of about 3 or 4 different spaces. The manager did comp the noodles and gave us a gift card, but we won't go back unless they turn it around. read more

I've been really excited to try this place I heard a lot about it. I really loved the atmosphere. I was confused at first where to go and what to do but a hostess was kind enough to explain. My boyfriend got Indian food and I got pizza. My only complaint is that the food does not come out at the same time so my pizza came out way too early while I waited for my boyfriend to get his Indian food. The pizza was delicious, I would just keep in mind that one chili pepper on the menu truly means it is spicy not lightly spicy. The white sangria was delicious.
