I have been several times and pleasantly surprised by the quality of everything I've had except the pizza. The pizza was good but to bready. I don't have to have a super thin crust but this was more like pizza made on focaccia bread. The dishes from the Asian kitchen have always been excellent with the Dan Dan Noddles and Holy Thai Basil my favorites. The green curry is close behind those. I've liked everything from the Indian kitchen but ordering it is a little harder to navigate. The interior is cool and the brewery is making good beer. read more

Great food and atmosphere. Our only complaint was the fact that we ordered the Naan sampler dish that comes with 5 different chutneys and naan bread, however, you pay 12 bucks for only one naan bread to dip. When you order more (which you have to in order to enjoy the sauces) you're charged 5 dollars. Ended up paying almost 20 bucks on the app... With that being said, it was delicious they just need to adjust they're prices on dishes. read more

My husband and I are long time residents of San Francisco and now Atlanta and seek out good food. We were passing through Chattanooga and this place was recommended to us. We were beyond impressed with our meal. We felt the "food hall" description does not do it justice as the space is stylish and comfortable, and you are seated by hosts and served by very knowledgeable servers. We skipped the pizza (which looked amazing), as we wanted to be ethnically and culinarily inspired. Boy, were we not disappointed. We ordered two small Asian fusion plates and an Indian chicken tikka verde with the makhani sauce, naan bread, and mango chutney. The chicken tikka verde and the Thai beef salad (angus, arugula, cilantro, mint, shallot, vinaigrette - and a lot of heat) were EXCELLENT, as was the Five Wits IPA to wash it down. Next time, I'd like to try one of the creative cocktails on the menu... This place is the real deal!!! read more

Loved the Indian portion of the menu! We shared a chicken wrap with a side of some type of salad. It was delicious. Our server, Alex, took care of us the whole time. Kept our drinks refilled throughout the meal, thoroughly walked us through each portion of the menu, and checked on us throughout our meal. Great atmosphere and a great place to hang out. But, the drinks are very overpriced (excluding the beer) and so is the food. I've tried many things on the menus and the only good thing so far are the animal fries. The pizza is really bad so avoid that. The service is a bit confusing. Some people get table service and others don't and it's not clear why. I've been to similar places like this in different parts of the country and they have been really fantastic, so I'm hoping the food (particularly the variety of food) and the service gets better when the pandemic ends. read more

There are several restaurants under one roof here. Nice people running the place. Concept seems cool and the decor was nice. The problem was with the process of ordering and getting you items as well as the food we had too. We got the pizza. Getting drinks was awkward because it's set up to get them yourself but then they get them for you. Maybe it's a covid thing but it was disjointed. Then we observed our pizza come out of the kitchen and then make a lap around the entire restaurant (including outside) before making it to our table. It arrive soggy and slightly cold. It was burnt on the edge but doughy and undercooked in the middle. The pizza was not good or even close to it. I didn't see the potential for it to be good either since it's baked in a pan. They describe it a "bar pizza". This style of pizza was first developed in the Stamford CT area. The pizza here is NOT bar style pizza so don't get your hopes up. When I say that the price is worth the food. I mean THE PRICE IS WORTH THE FOOD! Market South is a nice market where instead of having to go to each "booth" individually, they share a joint menu. The booths are chow mein, Indian cuisine, pizza. My 2 friends and I each ordered from the different food genres. The pizza was on a different level of any I've tasted before. Cut into square pieces, the crunchy base and the "saucy" sauce and the unique toppings, it all makes a perfect pizza slice. The chow mein, which was a perfect blend of fried vegetables and savory complimentary sauce, was worth the money. Although the Szechuan peppercorn makes your mouth numb, and I liked it. As a warning, the peppercorn may not be for everyone as my friends did not like the flavor I thought it added a nice tingle of flavor. The pick-your-own Indian cuisine is worth the money as well. The beauty of it, is you can customize it to your palate. The piece of complimentary Naan bread is big enough to fit almost your whole meal on! In all, Market South may be a bit pricey, but if you go, you are doing your mouth and mind a favor by the consumption of delicious food. read more

This was my second experience at Chow Mein. After not liking the first try, I decided maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I tried the steak fried rice this time. I couldn't even eat it. It had a burned flavor that permeated the whole dish. On top of that, the seasoning just wasn't pleasant to eat. That's the problem I had with the last time I ate at chow mein, not seasoned well. This was such a fun place and I would imagine a great place to meet up with friends in a non-COVID world. I had the pineapple fried rice which was amazing and enough for lunch the next day. The pizza was also perfect for the kids. And definitely try the white sangria, best I've ever had! The staff was super nice and accommodating. My daughter wasn't having a great evening after a long day so she brought a stuffed animal ankh to dinner. The hostess let her use an extra chair for her stuffy and the waitress even brought a cup of water for it. My daughter's mood completely turned around and we had a great family dinner. I went with a large party of people, so it was nice to go somewhere where we could be seated almost immediately. However, the food was probably the worst I've ever had in a restaurant. I have the chicken lettuce wraps and they had no texture or structure, like the lettuce was flimsy and weak. The chicken and what I believe was mayonnaise mix in the center was goopy, heavy, and tasted just like I was eating globs or mayonnaise with shredded chicken. I could hardly get through a few bites. I was hoping my meal was just a fluke but only one person in our party actually liked their food. The concept in brilliant, it was a great atmosphere for a birthday and I had tons of room to socialize with everyone. The outdoor aspect and games were a huge hit. The interior design is beautiful and made it wonderful photos, but the food completely ruined it for me and I wouldn't go back. read more

Very nice concept. You get big selection and different types of food. Now we won't have to go Atlanta for Indian food. On my first visit so far, My favorite is Grand Trunk - Short Rib Nachos. Definitely going back to try more. I really admire the owner and his wife for their vision, love and passion for their businesses. Walk to the Host station in front of the coffee house inside and ask to be seated (a lot of people get confused with the layout). This place really does have some of the best food on the Southside and hands down the best Chinese and Thai food the city has to offer. They make things pretty spicy! So if you don't like spice let them know! The pizza is incredible too and for less than $10 bucks you can get a large square slice and a beer. Five Wits offers cheap happy hour specials from 4-6 too. Delicious food, great atmosphere, lovely staff from the hosts and hostesses to the servers and managers. We had lunch here and we were not disappointed. Our eyes were so big that we ordered food from all three menus. We started with samosas-- highly recommend. My son had pizza-- which is an awesome option for a picky child. He was happy and we could be adventurous and enjoy. My husband and I each ordered a wrap. It was so big that we took half of it home, and our daughter had Thai pineapple rice and edamame. We asked for the edamame to come sans spice which they happily did. We are from Memphis but will definitely come back the next time we are in town. We took home lots of leftovers as the portions are big. Chattanooga is lucky to have this gem. read more

The brewery (Five Wits) launched with a panoply of clean, to-style beers that are assertive and approachable. Tonight was our first time trying Market South, and we had such a great time, and experience. When we first got there, we walked around, and were just trying to get a feel for the place until we stopped in front of the desk to be seated. We were greeted by the staff, who were very nice, very enthusiastic, gave us a great explanation of how everything worked, and took the time to go over the menu. We were seated, and our server came over shortly. Her name was Ana. She gave us such a great overview of the menu, and brewery selection. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the food from all 4 options, and very knowledgeable regarding the beer, and alcohol options. She was so personable, and we really enjoyed talking with her. I ended up trying the pizza, and my husband tried the Chow Main. Both were excellent, I loved the pizza. The servers who brought the food, and drinks over were also very nice. Overall, Market South is a great experience, and we will definitely be back. The service is a 5 star experience! read more

I heard from a few people about this new place called Market South and its brewery/multi-menu restaurant concept that recently opened in Chattanooga. Couldn't wait to give it a try, so I had some family and friends join along. The atmosphere is amazing and definitely unique, but being our first visit and unfamiliar with the layout (it's a pretty large space) can be a little intimidating. It was fairly busy when we walked in and weren't sure where we were supposed to go. probably obvious we felt lost because one of the worker's saw us and immediately stopped what she was doing to greet us with a smile and explain the entire setup! Luckily Ashley ended up taking care of us all night, and we couldn't have asked for a better server. She happily answered all of our questions and walked us through every step of the way. (one friend is a vegan and was thrilled with all her options to choose from!) Food was authentic and tasty. nothing like I've ever had in the area. we shared a couple of dishes to try a bit of everything and had some beers from their brewery. so happy we came because we will be back very soon!!! wanting to try something from the coffee bar next and other mini restaurant if it's open! read more
