i'm in the middle of studying but i had to stop and write a review. this place is amazing! i'm a first timer and i wanted to try a new place for milk tea because the original place i did go to here in lowell their coconut milk was tasting like water:| i stopped by, i was greeted so kindly and it makes me even more happy when i see everyone else is happy to be working. I ordered a medium coconut milk tea, less sugar, no ice, and lychee with an order of crab rangoon egg rolls. i can tell from the girls and also the guy who brought my order they enjoy working here which gives off such a good vibe. Definitely a likey!!! I went here with my friend to grab some dinner. We ended up getting eggrolls: the curry and the cheeseburger. I could have eaten cheeseburger eggrolls for my entire meal, but then it wouldn't make sense since I would need about 6 orders of it! We both got an order of boba tea; we got coconut and strawberry. They were both very good, but I was partial to the coconut (or it might be that I am partial to milk teas). The pearls were just right; not over or under-cooked. Then for a meal, we got bentos; one of the kobe beef and one of the okinawa bbq (essentially your tonkatsu without the thick sauce, but they give a fish sauce variation). I was more partial to the kobe beef, since it was easier on my teeth, but both were fantastic. Oh, they also put a few edamames and thin strips of radish and cucumber on the side. The sides that comes with the meal depends on what bento you order. I will definitely stop here again for a meal or for some snack! I have to say, I felt like I was in college again when I stepped into the place. My friend and I were probably the only non-students in there (everyone had backpacks or timbuk2 bags), which is ok! Makes me want to go back to school oddly enough! They also have free wi-fi and nice extended hours during "study" period, and that means if I do go back to school, I will go here to eat and study! hehe. The personnel are friendly and helpful with making a decision. They will direct you to the menu if you have never been there before to see a picture of every meal they have. The place is located on a side street (at least to me, it's a side street). It's right by UMASS Lowell, so I felt somewhat safe. It definitely felt safer than this other place I ate at with my friend who was especially nervous with the neon lights flashing in her face ehehheh. So, overall, I give it an awesome 5 stars with a guaranteed future visit! read more

This place showed up about 3 years ago near North Campus at UMass Lowell. Thank God it did! The majority of the staff is very friendly and one of the managers knows most of his regulars by name and treats them like family. Their selection of eggrolls has grown over the years, some of which are the hamburger eggroll (very good, sounds weird I know), Southwestern, standard, and a few more. Everyone should try the Southwestern, it's quite amazing. Now obviously they serve eggrolls, but they have also moved into other menu items along the way. They have bento boxes (basically lunch specials) which are quite delicious. The quality of their white rice beats most that you can find. Some of the bento lunches contains edamame (salty green beans) which accents the rice and the meat well. I usually go with the Island Chicken bento, but they have others that are just as good. They usually do a season bento from time to time. They had a Thanksgiving one last year and the turkey meat they use is of very high quality. Now for the drinks! They have amazing bubble tea. I personally don't like the tapioca balls so I tell them to take it out, but you are also in for a treat if you do enjoy them. The only bubble teas I order are the green tea and the coffee flavored ones. It's fun to pop the sealed top of the cup with the huge straw you get with the drink. Their hot ocha tea is unbelievable. The leaves are from Japan and are collected from the mountain base. It is a refreshing change from the stale green teas you'll get at other Asian restaurants in this price point. The atmosphere is very friendly and casual. The yellow-orange walls are quite soothing and the quite jazzy music played really fits the look. When I first heard about the EC I thought it was going to be a lame Asian restaurant that attempted to get the cafe ambiance. I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only do they get it right, they have live music performances regularly. They have a great pool of musicians to draw from as UMass Lowell is home to many music majors that are incredibly talented. Bentos and Bubble Teas. Forget everything else. Bentos and Bubble Teas. Stick to this mantra and you won't be disappointed. Food Okinawa BBQ Chicken Bento - Definitely worth it. The chicken was the right tenderness, and it wasn't too saucy. With well made rice, and edamame on the side - it becomes a well rounded meal you can eat anywhere. Almond Bubble Tea - Bubble teas here are awesome. Some places you go in Lowell, they just make it all wrong. Bubble teas are essentially milk teas with pearls in them. They are not shakes. Thai Tea and Almond are my favorite here. Atmosphere A great lounge-like atmosphere that's more cozy than it is cramped. It's located next to Umass Lowell North Campus, so peak hours could get a little hectic. (If you manage to get bubble tea before class, you'll be the envy of everyone) Staff They've gotta work on keeping their employees because every time I'm there it's always someone new. They're friendly though, and go the extra step to make sure you're satisfied. Final Thoughts When you're on North Campus and you have to pick between the minimal choices of where to eat - you can't go wrong with this one. Quick, and tasty. read more

As a student of UMass Lowell, the Eggroll Cafe was probably the best thing to come around the North Campus area. Because it is so close to the university parking is awful because it is mostly street parking. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful if you are indecisive. The eggrolls are great! They remind me alot of the eggrolls my parents make. Warm, fried goodness with all different type of fillings. My favorite among the choices are the hamburger and the curry chicken. There are also bento boxes and a couple salads, which aren't that bad. For drinks, there are many choices. Bubble tea or coffees are popular, and recently they added an alcohol menu. I highly recommend the bubble tea. The biggest downside to the Eggroll Cafe their prices are kind of high. Although the quality of the goods you get are really good, as a college kid, especially a hungry college kid, it does empty your wallet fast. Eggrolls come in 2's for almost 3 dollars and bubble teas close to 4. Overall I love the Eggroll Cafe, even if the price is a little high. Quality of food and drink is excellent and the staff is very friendly. If you drive you will have trouble finding a parking spot, but in the end it is worth it! read more

A big thanks to my fellow Yelpers, who made this visit possible. I was going to a concert in Lowell's Boarding House Park and looking for places to grab food to picnic with at the show, so I turned to Yelp. Eggroll Café seemed to get pretty good reviews, so we decided to give this place a shot. The only reason this review didn't get five stars is that our counter-girl was a touch grumpy and when I made a change to our order, I got a hefty sigh and an eye-roll in return. Our order was right (even the changed bit), but it seemed to be a massive inconvenience for her to hit a couple of extra buttons. C'mon, girl. It's not like I asked you to kill a kitten or something. Anyway, we ordered edammame (perfectly salted and great texture), crab rangoon eggrolls (holy crap, these things were perfect. Delicious, amazing texture, groan-inducing tastiness), taco eggrolls (very yummy and just the right amount of spice), feta & spinach eggrolls (Yelpers came through- recommended and delicious!!), and the southwestern eggrolls (a touch spicier than I usually like but they were wonderful nonetheless). We also got coconut and strawberry bubble tea, respectively. I love bubble tea and we both were very happy with the taste and texture. The location isn't bad but where we had to park and walk through was a little sketchy. That's not their fault, though, so it doesn't enter into my rating; I just wanted to let other readers know. I've been to the Eggroll Cafe a bunch of times, and it's always very good. I don't want to write a really long review here, so I'll just do a Pro and Con: Pro: * Clever, inventive eggrolls that are basically always tasty * Great dipping sauces * Bubble tea is a can't-miss unique drink. The tapioca balls are really neat. * Staff knows the product and are pretty friendly. * If the owner or manager (I don't know which he is) is in there, he'll tell you all about everything, and he's a wicked nice guy. Con: * Location completely stinks. No real parking. No easy highway access. * Lots of college kids in there all the time. Good for them, bad for me: I don't care about your latest hook-up. * Not a ton of seating, and what is there is kind of like a lounge. Very hipster. Tips: * Get the platter. Everyone has their favorite restaurants and why. This is my favorite because everything about it is perfect. The staff is amazingly friendly and the food always cooked to my liking. It's no surprise i save at least one meal a week to go there. The ambiance is relaxed and cool. Wonderful art on the wall and lot's of magazines to read. Another favorite with the college students. This place delivers only to the UMass Lowell dorms at certain hours. I like this place because it's different...I have never seen a restaurant serving predominantly eggrolls around here. I like the Southwestern and Curry eggrolls, but I haven't gotten to try all of them yet. They have coffee drinks, and also have bubble teas, if you're into that. They have bento boxes for lunch which are decent enough, but I would recommend going for the eggrolls. The staff is always very nice. I love the owner--she's adorable! If you didn't know about it, you might drive right past it, so keep your eyes open when you're looking for it. There isn't much parking along the street, but it's a quick walk from UMass Lowell's Olsen and Southwick Halls, which makes it an ideal spot for university students and faculty. Cafe is definitely a good description, because the atmosphere is set up more as a place to share a drink and have a snack, than it is for a dining out experience (even though they offer meal options like complete bento boxes). The decor is modern IKEA style with small tables and chairs that you can move to suit the company you have with you, or you can take a seat on the couch and footstools. The walls had a small collection from a local artist, which added to the hip cafe vibe. (Who knows, maybe I'll get some of my art in there someday!) ;-) As others mentioned, the service is very friendly and helpful- eager to help you find something you'll like, even if you have no idea what to order. The Bubble Tea is served in a plastic cup topped off with a plastic seal that you have to poke through with your straw. This very experience makes me reminisce about the days in elementary school when I had to use my tiny straw to poke through the little foil hole in my juice box- I'd always cheer for myself when I managed to break through the seal without busting my straw- and yes, I feel a similar sense of personal satisfaction when successfully breaking the seal of my bubble tea. If you've never had bubble tea, it's an experience that one should not go without having at least twice in their life. I say twice because the first time may feel a bit akward and you might not know what to think of it. Once you know what to expect, try it a second time before you decide whether you like it or not. The simple joy of drinking bubble tea is the dual experience of the drink and chewing the little gummy balls of boiled tapioca as they are sucked up through your straw. The tapioca balls, aka bubbles, really don't have a flavor in and of themselves- just a slippery and chewy texture. Their job is to make you slow down on your drink and have a fun chewing party in between sips. Also, despite having "tea" in the name, many of the drink options don't even have tea. You can get one that tastes like a pina colada, or a strawberry milkshake- so there's really no excuse not to at least try one. The egg rolls are a tasty deep fried snack to accompany your drink. After placing our order, we were encouraged to take a seat so that our order could be brought to us at our little table. It took about 5-7 minutes for the egg rolls to arrive and they were piping hot, as if they had just been pulled from the fryer. I decided to get the southwest roll and the crab rangoon roll. Both would be worth having again, and now I'm wondering if they'd let me order one southwest roll and one crab rangoon roll.. hmm... My husband got the steak & cheese roll and I didn't care for it much, but he seemed to like it. At another table I noticed a gentleman loving his soup so much that I thought he was going to take a bath in it, and a woman moving her salad greens around the plate as though she were searching for something more. Overall, this is a great place to grab a quick bite and a bubble drink. I might not go here just for the egg rolls (I don't really crave egg rolls), but I'd definitely go just for the bubble tea and try different things on the menu to help curb my mid-day appetite. Free wi-fi and acceptance of credit cards also makes this a place that's keeping up with the speed of what people want and come to expect from a cafe experience. read more

Eggroll Cafe reminds me of "The Max" from Saved by the Bell. Its an awesome place to hang out, get some work done, and eat with friends or alone. You can grab a seat at the counter if you don't want to feel "alone". I am in love with their taco eggroll, seriously its the best! You really can't go wrong with whichever variety of eggroll, they are all good! A serving comes with 2 eggrolls but if you in a large group, I highly recommend grabbing a platter, you can order up to 4 varieties to share. Its pretty filling. Bubble teas are the perfect compliment whether you are ordering eggrolls, a bento box, or soup. There are so many flavors to choose from, i am a bit biased towards the coconut one. You can also get flavored jellies if you don't prefer the regular boba. Friday nights offer open mic or other art performances, a great way to chill out and hang out if you don't feel like hitting up the bars. Service here is super friendly. I love this unique little gem of a cafe! My brother introduced me to it, and my fiance and I now make special trips down from Nashua, NH to go there. It's a cozy little place - plenty of space to sit and talk and definitely has a welcoming vibe to it. All of the staff is extremely friendly and warm, and they remember us every time we come in. I always get the coconut bubble tea - which I absolutely love. A creamy cold tea with little tapioca goodness on the bottom. My bro and his wife get the tarot root and mango slushy, and they're both addicted to those. My favorite eggroll? The crab rangoon. Unbelievably yummy and at only $2.50, you cannot beat the price. In fact, we have often called up and ordered their to-go tray. Don't be fooled by the sign: it says 16 eggrolls, but they are split in half and it ends up being HUGE - plenty of food for a party platter. It's a great price at something like $16 - and always a bit hit at gatherings. If you're in the area, stop by and try them out. Two giant thumbs up! read more

Again, in my effort to patronize the small business rather than the DD across the street, I've now fallen in love with all the bubble teas (iced coffee bubble tea, go figure, so good. And the honeydew bubble tea? Melony fun.) The drink you can chew. And their iced green tea is so refreshing. The second time I ordered from them, they got my order wrong. I asked about it before I left, and was reassured that although "it was busy" when I called, she corrected it after. Alas, she didn't. I think I have 396 left over if anyone would like to buy them off of me. I love this place, and as a student, I sort of live here. The atmosphere is pleasant, as are the people who work here, many of whom now know me by name, and just how I like my bubble tea! The bubble tea is top notch. I have had my fill of bad bubble tea. This is the place. They will customize it for you to the extent it is possible. They brew their own teas, which is clear from the taste. Milk tea is my favourite, and theirs is the best I've had outside of Japan, where it's a common drink. They will put in as much or as little sweetener as you wish; mix bubble flavours; whatever. They also have a large list of flavours, milky types and non-milk types, and slushes, which are amazing (but a treat). Look for sample cups to appear on the counter from time to time, and take one as an opportunity to try a flavour you haven't had. The eggrolls are good. I haven't had one I don't like. My favs are the Singapore, chicken basil, Peking, and buffalo chicken (I ask for ranch sauce with this one; the sauce it comes with doubles down on the spiciness, and I just can't hack it). Each comes with its own sauce for dipping. When you're with a group, the eggroll platter is a great idea. Their bento plates are good. I get chicken katsu a lot, and sometimes okinawa or green curry; rarely I get another. The bentos are the main area in which I think the cafe could improve. They come with rice, a little edamame, and a small cup of papaya salad, which is shredded papaya, cucumber slices, and half of a grape tomato. The elements are all good (though there are some dishes I don't like at all, but I have to chalk it up to personal taste), but it would be nice if veggies were better represented overall (throw some broccoli on the plate or something?), and it would also be nice if there were at least one more component to the bento, like a couple of dumplings or some veggies or what have you. I'm not sure. The plate just feels a little lacking for being both a bento and over $9. I highly recommend the eggroll salad. Its price has increased over time, but it is still worth it. A huge bowl with lots of different veggies on top, plus your choice of eggroll, of which two are cut in half and laid on top. Delicious, filling, good value. Chicken fried rice isn't too heavy and is clearly freshly made and tasty; get it with hot sauce. Soups are pretty good; I get them in the winter. They are more like stews, so don't expect a sloshy bowl of broth. Their dessert eggrolls are tasty, but I usually pass them up to have bubble tea instead. My other minor complaint is that I hope in the near future they are able to get enough funds together to replace their tables and chairs, or have them refinished, as well as their floor. It doesn't represent the quality of the place. They do their job, and they are all kept clean, but the paint is heavily scratched, the tables are uneven, and the finish of them feels like the wrong cleaner has been used on the finish and now it has a weird, vaguely-sticky quality to the touch, even when clean. They've been slowly replacing things over time and I hope this is next on the list, because this great place deserves better! Overall, I will go to this place at least once or twice a week until I graduate and move. It's my happy place. I recommend you try it. They also serve alcohol, if you're into that. Eggroll Cafe has long been a go-to spot for me. Prior to class, 11:00 am that is, the infamous Eggroll Cafe offers a 50 cent coffee. This spot has cured many hangovers and lifted me through many difficult lectures. I almost forgot to mention. If you're watching Sunday night football, this place offers a jungle of eggrolls in a party platter with various dipping sauces and condiments. The owners are very strict and keep their store in tip-top condition. Very clean. Highly recommend. read more

First visit tonight when my husband kicked me out of the house for guys' night. After reading so many favorable reviews on here last night about Eggroll Cafe, I thought I would give it a try. Note: my Garmin GPS did not have a listing for the restaurant, but luckily I still had the yelp profile pulled up on my ipod touch so I could manually input the address. Parking meters around here are free after 4pm and on weekends! There's a parking meter lot across the side street from the restaurant. I knew from other reviewers that the bento boxes here at Eggroll are hit or miss depending on what you're expecting but since I haven't eaten in awhile, I wanted something that would stick with me. I ordered the Island Chicken bento, one of their specialties. I was disappointed by the nasty chicken fat/skin all over the chicken... for $8 I expected consistently better chicken. The rice was great, edamame and micro side salad were good compliments to the flavor. The portions were perfect; the plastic tray they serve the food in is super hip. Atmosphere is pretty cozy as noted by other reviewers. Nice ambient lighting, jazz on overhead, nice use of the space. The orangy walls are very welcoming, the red couch/cushy furniture is obviously cheap though. The woman who helped me at the counter also brought the food over and was helpful and friendly. It's a random Tuesday around 6 and it's very quiet in here; she said it's because the extended holiday weekend meant today is like a Monday to the college kids. When I came in, it was just me and another guy on a computer, and a third woman on her bluetooth and laptop doing some sort of obnoxious/aggressive business kind of conversation. Later a group of three college kids came on in, talking pretty loudly (conversation acoustics carry a lot here). I can see from a sign on the wall that this Friday there's a free show at 8pm from some girl who plays ukelele, mandolin, and does sea chanteys/ rock. A pleasant, eclectic offering. I'd come back. Next time I'll try the famous eggrolls and bubble tea. I thought I'd save that for a time when I want to meet up with friends. read more

Went here due to reviews but was disappointed. Ordered 2 salads, a soup, and an eggroll sampler. Egg roll sampler was okay, but super greasy. We ordered the Stir fry Chicken Salad and a Thai Basil Salad. These salads were identical except for the chicken which we didn't order on the Thai Basil Salad. They were American salads consisting of mostly lettuce-a HUGE amount of lettuce and a small amount of grape tomatoes, cukes, sprouts, and carrots. The place was cute and the staff was nice, but we will not be returning. It was about $10/person and within a short time we were all hungry. read more

This place is right by the university in Lowell so it has a university vibe to it. The staff is nice and the place is clean so in my books, it's pretty good for a university-type of hang out. I originally came here for their bubble tea drinks but since it is called Eggroll Cafe, my husband and I got the samosa and chicken basil eggroll. He got the iced lychee tea with lychee jellies and I opted for an iced coffee. Chicken Basil - much cheesier than anticipated. In fact neither my husband or I anticipated cheese in this so when he first bit into it he thought they gave us the wrong roll. It was heavy on the cheese and light on the chicken basil but it was okay. Samosa - I was expecting samosas in its traditional triangular form but this came in an eggroll form (I guess I should have known). It had a bit of a spicy kick and was pretty good. Iced Coffee - I didn't really like it. It tasted bitter so I let the ice melt a bit so it was a bit more bearable. I'd go for something non-coffee related next time. Lychee tea - I didn't try it but my husband thought it was way too sweet and would have been better if he asked for it half sweetened. This place is okay. I came here based on Yelp reviews. The concept is golden but the food and drink is average. Their food isn't bad but it's nothing worth raving about. I've had better bubble tea in other shops around Lowell. After ordering the egg roll platter, I realized it would be more appetizing to eat an actual cheeseburger or a box of pizza rather than having a small portion in an egg roll. These tiny egg rolls are overpriced and I swear I could of made any of them myself. But I get the appeal of the cafe for college students. It's just not my type of place. read more

I used to come to Eggrolls all the time when I was studying at UML. Recently, I ordered my typical Eggrolls (Crab Rangoon, Singapore, Samosa) and you can tell the recipe is just different for the Singapore and Samosa. Samosa used to have chunks of potatoes and actually had a kick to it but it was mushy and just not spicy. Singapore was just filled with what seems to be cream cheese flavored curry like and nothing else. The Crab Rangoon sauce had been diluted and it's just watery. Not sure if it's because of COVID but you should never compromise quality IMO. Crab Rangoon was awesome but Singapore, Samosa + sauces was a let down. read more
