If you're looking for a greasy fried cheat meal this is it. The food coma was imminent after the meal. Duck sauce which is highly lauded in the reviews was not bad, but honestly not life changing. Wait was greater than 10 minutes even with togo order phoned in. The small parking area in front can be quite crowded during meal times. Hours of operation are limited. We attempted to eat here once before, on a Saturday at around 1:30 p.m. only to find that the "Lady" opens at 4 p.m. on Saturdays. This time, we were here on a Friday well after the typical lunch rush time (it was shortly before 2 p.m.) to find only one other couple occupying seats in this little hole in the wall (think very small trailer trying to replicate a fish shack, complete with "gnarly" surfer wall art, tacky curtains, and seating for very few people inside - about 8 to 10, and that's squeezing them in). Starving at this point, my companion and I each ordered an Eggroll Lady Platter thinking we could put sizeable dents in them. Wrong---each contained four smallish eggrolls, three battered chicken fingers, three good-sized battered shrimp, and three crab Rangoon. Delicious as most of this food was, albeit heavy, being all deep-fried pieces, we each took home about half of our orders. I must agree with others here that the really outstanding item in the platter was the eggrolls. The shrimp and chicken were pretty run-of-the-mill, but the Rangoon triangles had thick edgings on them---not very appealing to us so we tore them off. Other than that, we had no complaints. Our young server was very pleasant, bringing us more sauces and mustard upon our request, and even the Lady herself stopped by our table to check on us and chatted a bit. As mostly every past diner has said, they are very pleasant and accommodating people. When we are in the area again on the correct day and at the correct time, we'll most certainly visit the Lady for more of those righteous eggrolls and perhaps to sample some fish and chips and kim chi (I'm a big fan of this spicy slaw). read more

Very friendly! I got the fried clams with scallops combo. Total about $16.50. The clams were great, they were fried to a nice brown color with the crust being a gentle crunch and the inside juicy. There was a tasteful texture and season to the dough on the clams and scallops. There was a little excessive grease residue on the scallops but not enough to completely dislike the entree. The serving portion was justified by the cost of the plate. The food was fresh and hot when I was eating it. The entree came with a side of fries tarter sauce and coleslaw. The entrance and dining area is small. It only has 4 tables with 3 seats per table. There is cold A/C at the back of the dining area so it's nice when it's a hot day outside. Overall, the staff was very friendly and great smiles. The entree I got was good, especially the clams. It was not too busy when i came in but people were always at register. You had me at "Eggroll Lady." Then you said "Shack" and I fell in love. If you like fried sea food and pu pu platter stuff, you gotta come here! I've passed by the place about a million times on my way to other Route 12 loves "Ming's Wok," "Brown Rice" and "Meola's Wayside Ice Cream." Location 'kinda' stinks, it looks like you're going to buy a used car from Tony Pepperoni or something. Jena and I ordered take-out and the wait was 25 minutes. Ok - lesson learned. This is NOT restaurant take-out speed. If the food is good, we'll know for next time. Guess what folks? The food was good, and the people spoke loud and clear. When we got there, there was a line out the door with people of all shapes and sizes :) We got the Egg Roll platter sampler (egg rolls, chicken, fried shrump, rangoons) and it was KILLER. Home made duck sauce? YES PLEASE. We also ordered the clam strip platter. This left a 'bit' the imagination, no WOW factor, but we finished every damned last piece. Me & my bf made a 1.5 hour trek from Boston to try this place. We're Filipino & Chinese so we've had our fair share of egg roll type food. It was definitely worth the drive. The egg rolls are like a fusion of Chinese Egg Rolls & Vietnamese Spring Rolls, which the Egg Roll Lady explained in her Phantom Gourmet interview. I thought they were very similar in taste to Filipino Lumpia. They are above average size for spring rolls. (PSA to everyone saying that the rolls are small - the type of wrapper being used isn't conducive to being extremely thick because then the roll just gets soggy.) I really liked the filling combo of meat and rice noodles. My bf really liked the homemade apple-cinnamon-duck sauce. The rolls are also reasonably priced; not cheap, but still a good value. We also got the fried chicken wings & the fish. Both tasted amazing & these items were pretty cheap. The wings are your basic fried wings, no sauce or anything on them, but come with extras on the side. The fish is a long, thin, fried filet that stays crispy. The batter is really good. The space was small, only 4 tables total. We spent about an hour or so here and saw the tables get all filled up a few times during our meal. The service was very friendly and attentive, though they get really busy with takeout orders and phone calls so there might sometimes be a wait. Definitely recommend if you want to try legit authentic egg rolls and/or if you're a fan of fried food. read more

If you want fried food, the oil they use seems very fresh. For me, it was just too much. The batter was too thick. There was no spicing in the shrimp, and for that matter hardly anything else. Their eggrolls are not eggrolls at all, but rather those skinny spring rolls. They have just a little bit of cabbage like material in them, no flavoring that I would call garlic or Ginger or scallions or anything I usually would Want to find in such a roll. She took a phone in order, was very friendly and very quick. The food seemed very fresh, and I thought the garden salad was really nice, lots of different vegetables in it Don't go here if you want something lightly breaded or lightly battered. The food is great! The only negative thing I have to say is the service and time frame they give you when the food is done. I ordered food on a Friday evening and I was told it would take 35 minutes. So when I arrived at the restaurant I had to wait another 25 minutes!!!! So just be cautious on the wait time they give you. Other than that the food is amazing! My only complaints are the scallops are obviously frozen sadly and the tartar sauce despite being home made doesn't have a nice light tartness you can taste the buttery cream. Kimchi is homemade here, and quite good. Everything else is way over-hyped and just average. Very heavy coatings on the fried foods, which tend to be on the greasy side. The "famous" eggrolls are nothing drool worthy. I've had much better fish and Chinese foods elsewhere, and the owner has some serious mood swings, as previous reviewers have mentioned, so hope you catch her in one of her upswings.
