Came here because of all the good reviews. Hugely disappointed. After waiting 20 minutes for a table, I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. As it was a "specialty" item on the menu, I expected home-made hash. What I got was a very small portion of canned, dog-food-grocery-store hash! For $9, are you kidding me? Others at the table commented that this wasn't "their usual hash". Evidently, they ran out of hash, so rather than take it off the menu, they sent someone over to the grocery store to get canned hash. Epic fail! I won't be back. read more

I'm really a huge fan of this franchise, but the Main Street location just doesn't do it for me. The food at this store is always sub-par. For some reason the bacon is ALWAYS burnt. And whenever I give them a preempt about how I don't like burnt bacon (because you guys always seem to fuck it up) I get dirty looks. The looks are even worse when I tell them to take it back. There have been a few times when I've had really sweet servers. But the front desk girls are always sooooo rude. Hey ladies, you don't need to get all snotty with me because you chose a job that gets you out of bed a 4 a.m. Maybe we should all get together and send them some tampons in the mail....just a thought. Wow way to provide great customer service! Just walked in and walked out of this location because of the rudest greeting ever provided by a host. I'm 8 months pregnant and dependent on my chai tea to get me through the last weeks of this journey so I walk in with my tea only to be told, "are you leaving that on the counter or taking it back to your car?!?" I was dumbfounded, I couldn't believe that was the first things to come out of this girl's mouth. I understand if this is your company's policy, but to have zero disregard for the way you come across to your patrons is just bad business. This restaurant looks like an old cafe you would find in the country but it's right in our backyard. The staff has always been very friendly and the food is good. It's not my first choice but it has more on the menu than I remember. Everyone at my table had breakfast which looked good but I was in the mood for lunch so I got a burger. I had the veggie omelet sunday morning. It could have been great, but they blew it with canned spinach. They do eggs very well. The omelet was one of the best looking I have ever seen. The hash browns were good. The big problem was the spinach in the omelet. It was CANNED. Perhaps I am high maintenance, but if I see in the description that an omelet has spinach, I am expecting fresh leaf spinach. It's not that hard to do. To open up a can and heap yucky gobs of mushy caned spinach in a veggie omelet...bad form indeed. The bummer was that if they hadn't used the canned spinach, it would have been an amazing omelet. That's why they still get three stars. The coffee was weak and tasteless. I will go back, but next time I am going to interrogate the waitress to make sure there are no surprises. Eggs n Things has been my favorite breakfast / lunch restaurant since 1993. The food is always fresh & appealing & reasonably priced. The weekday specials are a bargain. They have the best servers (that's waitress if your over 50). Unlike the tiny breakfast houses, Eggs has plenty of room for huge crowds--I have never seen them turn away any size group. read more

My husband and I went to breakfast ...unfortunately we had a waitress who was not pleasant. It took her forever to wait on us....Very uncaring....forgot my syrup but when I was going to mention it to her again she came by so fast without a word just to slam the bill pn the table and took off. The people next to us asked if she could take some dirty dishes...well she took them to the hostess desk and left them. One could tell she didn't like working there. Been going to Eggs N Things since I was a kid in Thousand Oaks and it's great they have one in Ventura. I'm in my 30s now and still enjoy the place Friendly atmosphere, popular location, good menu and usually can't go wrong with most things on the menu. We split a spinach omlette and cinnamon waffles with an orange juice for a late breakfast one morning. Consistent quality and price, can't go wrong typically, I haven't had lunch here but they have a lunch menu as well. Good place to grab breakfast and get filled up. Eggs N' Things has become my go to breakfast spot on my way to Santa Barbara. I found it with my girlfriends back in August on our way to a bachlorette party, and have taken everyone that has traveled to the SB area with me since. Everything that I have had there has been delicious. The times I've gone, I've stolen bites of the waffle (crispy and delicious), the pancakes (sweet and fluffy), and even the biscuits and gravy that altho not my normal choice ...were tasty. My husband had the pulled pork omelet that he enjoyed so much, i wasn't able to steal a bite! It looked very good tho. It had avocado, cheese, Pulled pork and sour cream (kinda like a burrito, but instead of a tortilla, it was a thin layer of egg). My standby is usually eggs and bacon, and i must admit, my guiltiest of pleasures is the bacon. It's crispy and tasty, and just all around delicious. Oh and the surprise blintz before the meal is delicious as well. Looking forward to my next SB trip! read more

The food is good but the dress code in there is inappropriate. The place is decorated like a cute breakfast hangout full of paintings and "grandma" style decor. You would think of this place as a sweet, innocent breakfast place that is family friendly. I've been here a couple times now and each time I go I'm amazed that the waitresses can reveal so much! They wear extremely short shorts (I could see my waitresses butt checks) and very low tops revealing their cleavage. I think this is extremely inappropriate. I take my family there on Sundays before church occasionally because the coffee and food is tasty, but it always bugs me how skimpy the girls dress in here. I would have given them 5 stars, but I don't feel that this place deserves it until the dress code is more suitable for a family environment. read more

We were looking forward to a yummy breakfast and couldn't decide so we went here. Most of our dishes were okay. The chicken fried steak was average. The breakfast burrito was okay. My son loved the cinnamon french toast. But my oldest's omelet was so thin it looked transparent. It was thinner than the complementary Swedish pancake that they severed us. I wish I would have taken a picture. You could see the pile of spinach and some mushrooms right through it. Did they run out of eggs? We were going to bring it to your server's attention, but we just shared our meals with him. Service was pretty good which reflected in her tip. I did feel we were initially overlooked to be seated because a few groups with our number of people were seated so I naturally went to check. It and the crepe that they give before the meal are the main reason we go there. It is always crowded and you often have to wait for a table but once you are seated they wait on you quickly. Friendly staff, great service, and I really enjoyed my breakfast. I ordered the Pnacake Sampler (2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links) and I loved the fact that my scrambled eggs were beautifally cooked, nice and yellow - NOT burned brown. The bacon was also very tasty and cooked perfectly, not too blackened/crispy, just right! I'm a total pancake snob, too, so let me just say that I'm now contimplating making trips back regularly. I normally love to eat at Eggs n Things on the weekends and enjoy a good brunch with my family, but unfortunately I was unable to do that this past weekend because of the service received at this location. The server, Eva, was extremely rude and inattentive. I have never experienced such an unpleasant young woman, not only did she take awhile to greet us, she put the order in wrong making us wait even longer for food and when we tried to tell her what was wrong with the order she made it seem like it was our fault and did not want to listen to us. Wonderful place. We were traveling. Stopped here for breakfast. Hostess was very cheerful. Seated us quickly. Our server Brianna was truly one of the best servers we have had. I have Celiac. When traveling or we go out it is always a challenge getting servers to understand and relay to the kitchen my dietary needs. I know it's an extra effort. Brianna asked questions and helped us through our order. Then went into the kitchen to ask questions. There was no doubt in my mind they were doing their best.
