    Breakfast Chilaquilas

Had the chilaquiles, chorizo with flour tortillas, bacon and coffee. Good size portions. Very tasty plates. Delicious bacon and flavorful black coffee. Inside is on the smaller size. Friendly and fast service!

This is a great breakfast/brunch spot! The food here is simply delicious! I got the Meat Lovers Omelette and it was amazing! Other places where I've had omelettes the egg part tends to be dry, but not here, it was perfectly moist! Overall this is one of the best omelette I've ever had! I prefer waffles over pancakes but the ones listed on the menu included eggs and such. They were able to make one a la carte for me. Although yummy the waffle was a little pricey, 9.99 for a plain waffle. Service was good, the server checked on me throughout my meal. Will definitely be back soon as there were quite a few things on the menu I wanted to try.

Great breakfast When I'm in Ventura I always have to stop here for breakfast. Great coffee as well.

It's been a loooonnnggg time since I've been to galloping Hen so we decided to stop in for breakfast on a rainy Friday. The space looks the same but is definitely under a different ownership from my last visit. The service was good and we were seated quickly. The menu had an extensive amount of options, but nothing seemed to really stand out. I ended up with the Cali breakfast burrito with eggs, fries, guac and asada. It came with sour cream and pico on the side. The burrito was pretty large, but really didn't hit the pallet it was just ok and filled the belly. It wasn't something that I'd crave and most likely won't make another visit.

Oh my gosh I love this place! Tucked away out of eyesight behind Big Lots! What a fantastic breakfast spot!! Very clean, small and simple place. Very friendly service! Food was yummy and they have great coffee! Highly recommend coming here!

What a hidden hen! Hahaha, see what I did there? I've seen this place over the years and always talked about visiting but hadn't until now. So yummy! I love me some chicken and waffles. And they were cooked perfectly with the nice crunch. The pancakes were round and golden and the perfect soft butter. I was actually surprised how good the hot chocolate was. So yummy! It was a lot bigger inside than it looked outside. Super cute restaurant. My hubby was SO happy because they kept his coffee cup full the entire time. Like the ENTIRE time. I want to go try more items soon!

In venture for family appointments and found this place for breakfast. Small older, good oldies music and seated quickly. However, the two servers working spent 10 mins talking in the kitchen before they finally came out to take our order. But, this was only after an older man that was seated at the same time as us " went to the door and asked if someone going to wait on him?!" For very slow service and very strong coffee its rating is a 3. Once our order was taken, food came out pretty fast. Food was good and kudos to the cook! We May consider returning in the future.

Talk about a throwback old school breakfast spot. I'm never in this part of town so genuinely when I found it on Yelp I had no idea where I was going and when I turned into a baby blue colored shopping mall off the main drag I thought I had been transported to my grandmas era lol. This is a cool business shopping center stuck in time, old school Ventura and definitely a spot that feels nostalgic. The setting made for the perfect spot for a classic breakfast and lunch restaurant catering to the locals of Ventura as this spot is a staple, not one that's calling to the instagramers or influencers. And they are okay with that. It's clear that their customer base are locals coming in for a no frills meal with family down home vibes. Service was definitely 5 stars but casual. We were seated right away and orders taken without fuss. Everyone was very nice and welcoming but also kept to themselves and allowed you to enjoy your meal. The food came out reasonably quick and was super fresh. Our waitress was nice and got us everything we needed. When it came time to bus our tables and clear them they were on top of that too. No misses when it came to service. We loved the large menu and you'll definitely find something for everyone. Of course they specialize in breakfast and lunch diner type plates. The prices were average and the menu was easy to navigate, despite having a lot to choose from. The interior of this restaurant is very classic feel good family vibes. We laughed a little at all of the rooster/chicken/hen decor everywhere - hence the name of the place Galloping Hen. It was fun. The food was classic and totally hit the spot. My friend got an omelette that they let her customize a little bit with a side of hash browns. I was in the mood for a tuna melt and fries and it was tasty. Butter grilled bread and a generous amount of tuna. If you like a grilled tuna they have a good one here, I just only crave it once in a blue moon so I'll be good for a while. Definitely would love to come back to try their chicken fried steak or other classic breakfast combos. This spot is definitely going to stick around for another 40 years and I'm hoping to support them when I'm in the area and craving some down home classic cooking and service. Good spot, definitely give them a try!

This breakfast eatery has lasted the test of time (since 1984). Galloping Hen offers up all your favorite standard breakfast items along with burgers and sandwiches. My husband saw a dish being delivered to another table and had to have it. The Buckaroo came with grilled biscuit, sausage, omelette and topped with gravy with a side of potatoes. He loved it. I had the French Connection, eggs, sausage and French toast. I always take a chance ordering sausage but this was good. Good service.

Chili verde omelette. My husband wasn't a fan of the cheese. So he scraped it off

Such a cute place! I've only eaten here twice, but would absolutely go back if anyone needed a suggestion for breakfast. Wonderful service! I've had the corn beef hash plate and their chorizo plate. Both are delicious. And these portions are hearty. My husband has had the chili verde-pork omelette and the chilaquiles. His omelette was okay, as the meat portions were in chunks and he thought they would be shredded. The chilaquiles are BOMB. I highly recommend that dish. Plenty of seating as well. We shall be back!

While it's still aesthetic-ish, it feels like a European restaurant imitating an American cafe but less dialed in. A little more kitschy than cute. The food, sadly, was mid. I ordered my usual - known as the Caffe Breakfast here ($18). It comes with 2 eggs, your choice of protein (chicken sausage for me), potatoes, and ciabatta. It tasted like a regular ole hotel breakfast. The texture of the chicken sausage was crumbly which I didn't prefer. We also tried an omelette which was better, but not by much. On a more positive note, the line moves fast (esp since you're standing out in the sun).

The employees were kind, place was clean, there's in and outdoor seating, and parking is what you make of it as PP is located on a blocked off street where cars are not permitted. All to say, research where you wish to walk about, find a meter or free parking lot - enough around, and put on your good yet cute walking shoes because you'll enjoy strolling about after your meal here - or drink. I thought the tacos would be decent, had a good attitude coming here, but boy, what a nice surprise this place was! Small line in front, you order, pay, go inside, wait for your order at pick up window. Simple! Tables on the pier, and they have a patio facing the ocean, nice view. Picnic tables! They sell wine, beer, margarita-s. Great selection! But the tacos!!! We got 4 between me and my husband to share and sample: Baja Taco (got fried fish) had fresh ingredients, lettuce and a nice lime flavor! Beach House Tacos (got grilled fish), nice pineapple salsa, tender fish, nice sauces and lettuce. Calamari Taco - fried calamari - fresh avocado and cabbage, nice sauce - chipotle. Marilu Taco with popcorn shrimp with nice chile lime crema, not too spicy. Even the fried seafood here is fresh, not very fried, just a tad, nice and crispy, but not greasy. Loved every taco, they are all different than each other, they use fresh ingredients and vegetables, each had a great, original flavor, they don't skimp on anything - seafood or ingredients. By far, some of the best tacos I ever had, they go in my Top 5. 4 Tacos (they are big!) are enough for 2 people. My and my husband we also shared a portion of guac and chips, they reminded us of Mexico. The guac had a lime flavor and well mashed, the tortilla chips are thicker and extra friend. Inside were three of the smallest "street tacos" I've ever seen. I've seen more substantial meals in Barbie's Dreamhouse. I ordered the carne asada, but apparently the salt shaker took the day off because the meat had absolutely zero seasoning. No salt, no flavor, no redeeming qualities. The punchline?
