Looking for breakfast delivery a few weeks ago in south-side Richmond, I came across Eggs Up Grill off Midlothian. I have to say, in the past few years especially, I have been surprised by a number of different restaurants when the food is delivered. Rarely has that surprise been pleasant; however Eggs Up Grill ( I can speak only of the Midlothian store) is an exception. The food is prepared perfectly, and I have never had grits as good as these, despite having lived in Georgia for some years. I have ordered from them several times now. I love going to Eggs Up Grill. The food is enjoyable and at a good price if you have a Large party. I have notice they are cutting back a lot on the potatoes lately. Waitress was friendly and attentive, good start. coffee was fresh and flavorful. took a while to take our order, but it was ok we weren't in a hurry. Our food finally came out, it was so wrong. Ordered 3 scrambled eggs got 3 over easy, bacon burned to an unpleasant crisp, sausage greasy, dry toast buttered, fruit cup not fresh. I only commented about the eggs, waitress apologized said she messed up offered a replacement. I don't send food back, because I don't know what will come out, or what's been done to it. I was with friends, didn't want to create a bad vibe. under different circumstances I would have sent it back and just paid for the coffee. Excited to try this place. Decor & ratings made it enticing. Wrong. We waited 20 mins for poached eggs over hash. They had an entire page of their menus dedicated to the options for the way you want your egg cooked raving that they know how to cook eggs. Our poached eggs were cooked hard. Grits are out of a box as is the hollandaise sauce & the home fries which come with just about every dish were not cooked through. Not a welcoming atmosphere. We came in for brunch on a Saturday. The person that seated us gave the impression it was an annoyance for her to do so. The wait for a server was longer than expected although once we ordered the food came out fairly quickly. I ordered the Belgian waffle which was good but cold. I like butter on waffles and pancakes but there was none. We were also never offered more coffee. It also took longer than expected to get the check. The check was another issue. I am really hoping this restaurant succeeds. It would be great to have another option for breakfast and lunch. However, they need good kitchen help. Today we went in about 1pm. Six tables seated two servers and 3 cooks behind the grill. Ordered poach eggs toast and sausage and my wife a BLT. Wait time was long, food was cold and eggs hard. Server did not ask how it was (I think she knew). Left a decent tip as I know all places are struggling. However, they need to be better organized in the kitchen. This place used to be my go-to breakfast spot but lately they have become a victim of their own success. Portion sizes have conitued to diminish to the point where this morning I only got 1 of the 3 eggs and 1/2 a portion of potatoes vs a double portion on the "Grand Classic" I ordered. Unfortunately it was a take out order and I didn't find out until I was at work and unable to do anything about it. The vanilla cappuccino was $3.50 and comes from a machine and I was given brown colored water. I was so looking forward to this restaurant having read some reviews. The hostess who seated us was sweet and accommodating. Our waitress however seemed frazzled and inattentive. She brought coffee with no utensils leaving my companion to offer me his straw. After bringing our meal, she did not check back until we were finished. I asked if coffee refills were available since I had nothing to drink while finishing my breakfast. This prompted her to ask "oh, you want more coffee"? Duh.......! The food I would rate 7 out of 10. My toast was heavily buttered and my corn beef hash was slightly burned. My disappointment mostly came from the poor service. Well, I've tried to give this restaurant many chances but they continually disappoint me. Met my friend at counter at 8:15, finally got breakfast orders after 9:00! They only became "on the wait during that 45+ minute wait. Mine was a simple sandwich and I saw it in the window for over 20 minutes! Wait stuff pulled it forward, didn't see my friend's order so pushed it back...4 times!!! We got our meals together and I knew mine was ice cold, touched it and said, "Please make another one since this is ice cold." ALL 3 waitresses at counter looked thunderstruck at my request! The one holding it didn't seem to know what to do with it, so she walked it to the kitchen and told them to make it again. Isn't that what the pass-thru window is for? Quick communication between front and back-of-house and the expediter (of which there was none)? Told my friend to eat while hers was hot. Ten more minutes had passed and my food was STILL NOT in window! It was a sandwich!!!!! Finally caught the waitress's attention and told her to cancel the order. If you cancel an order or request your cold food be remade and served hot, be prepared to have the wait staff stare at you as if you're a leper, receive absolutely no apology, talk loudly about your request and then watch the kitchen staff look at you as if you're a Karen! I was not! I was more than patient, waited way longer than necessary and was not rude, obnoxious or demanding to see a manager-which I believe is the standard Karen response. So, my feelings on the whole event is this: many mobile and/or online and phone to-go orders were flooding the kitchen and pushing back in-store orders. Why do I think this? The order machine was in window, right in front of me and I watched it spit out many orders which ended up in to-go bags and not to tables. I wasn't enjoying my meal so I had lots of time to watch. An elderly woman was at the far end of counter and she asked about her to-go order and after 40 minutes of waiting j heard her say, "Never mind. Just cancel it," and walked out still holding her cash to pay for her food so I'm not wrong or alone here. Bottom line: I will NEVER go back to this restaurant and y'all have one less person in queue. You're welcome. read more

I ordered my food online and it said it would be ready at 10:59am. I went to Starbucks first and got to Eggs Up and 11:12 my food wasn't ready. The young lady said give it 10 to 15 minutes. So I went next door and got my eyebrows waxed it had been 20 minutes and my order still wasn't ready. The same young lady said to me "ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS WAIT ANOTHER 10 TO 15 MINUTES"! I said no I will like a refund, she got a pen and paper asked for my name and number and said my manager will call after we close is that fine! I said absolutely not can you get your manager. She went to the back and started talking to this other lady and looking on the screen. So the lady she was talking to came up to me and said the kitchen is swamped and she didn't know when the manager can speak to me. I said to her it's been over a hour so can you all bump my order up or something. So she said did you order on DoorDash I said no you all website. She says well they shut the online ordering down and your order isn't even on the screen. I said well how was I suppose to know that and that's not my fault. She said with an attitude well I don't know when my manager can come out but you are more than happy to wait. I said I will. So as I'm waiting you would have thought they would have offered me something to drink or something but nope. All they did was kept looking at me at talking amongst themselves. They say the kitchen was backed up but you have staff dancing and laughing in the back!The original young lady who helped me first came back up the front like 10 minutes later with 2 bags one for this gentleman and the other was mines. She called my name and as I was walking towards her she looked at my ticket and said "DO YOU STILL WANT A REFUND"! I kindly took my food that I had been waiting for for over a hour and said "WHY IN THE HELL WOULD I WANT A REFUND AND YOU BROUGHT ME MY FOOD!" Since she wanted to be sarcastic I gave her a sarcastic response! This place customer service is THE WORST! My food wasn't all of that and I ordered a side of eggs with cheese, I had more cheese than eggs! Now if my order wasn't on the screen how did you know what I ordered?
