Had a great brunch at Eggspectation and honestly can't stop thinking about the food! The French toast was delicious, but the blueberry lemon pancakes were the real star -- such a great flavor combo. Everything came out fresh and tasted amazing. What really made the experience though was our server Caitlin. She was so friendly and personable from the moment we sat down -- the kind of server that genuinely makes you feel welcome and not just like another table. You can tell she actually enjoys what she does, and that energy is contagious. Overall a really solid brunch spot. I went here in a Friday morning. It wasn't busy when I arrived and I was seat right away. There is plenty of parking around this place it's near a shopping center. Inside was very clean and the staff were friendly. Their menu was good it had a variety. I was in the mood for something sweet. They had this almond croissant with berries French toast. I was interested bc I never had French toast made out of a croissant before. It was delicious. It came with fresh berries. I also ordered a side of eggs with my French toast. And I had a smoothie which was good. I thought the smoothie position was a little small for the price but it was still good. Overall a large restaurant, beautifully decorated and clean most importantly. We started off with a mimosa flight . Can't go wrong . I ordered the French Toast platter . I couldn't quite pin exactly what kind of bread was used but it was absolutely delicious. Soft but still crisp . Flavorful and fluffy . I despise "eggy" French toast and they did not disappoint. I love that the potatoes were thin and crisp compared to home fries at most restaurants being cubed/diced potatoes . Unfortunately I didn't get a great picture of the lambs chops but they were also delicious. Initially thought it was overcooked off first glance but once we took a bite, we were relieved that it cooked perfectly tender and juicy . The bacon is from heaven... cooked to perfection and a balanced smoke and salt taste.! This place really is amazing. The staff are incredibly friendly and is great for groups or a date. While in town for a quick trip my sister and I decided to grab brunch from this spot ! We arrived around 9:30am. The shopping plaza they are located in was hosting a craft show, so I can see how occasionally there may be issues with parking. We arrived a few minutes prior to them placing up barricades and were able to score a parking spot at the perimeter of the shopping plaza. When we walked in the host immediately greeted us with a smile and graciously assisted us with fondling a seat. The wait staff came over within minutes of us being seated. She also had a pleasant demeanor. We started off ordering waters . When she returned with waters we placed both our drink and food orders. I ordered a cappuccino with almond milk and my sister ordered a latte and requested pumpkin syrup. For our food order: I had the shrimp and crab omelette, my sister had the veggie omlette, and we ordered a side order of the almond crunch French toast to share. The drinks came out first, but I was surprised by how quickly the food order arrived. The omelette is served with a small side salad and potatoes. The only thing I am sure that was cooked to order was the omelette- and as quickly as it arrived- I am not so certain it was made to order. The coffee was really good. I am a true coffee drinker and appreciate the taste of coffee. I would love to know what beans they use for their coffee drinks - so good. The omelette had great flavor. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside . The salad was simple- but fresh ! I would say that you can taste that they use quality ingredients and fresh ingredients- which I am a fan of! The side French toast was heavenly ! The almonds added a good crunch to the Overall I would highly recommend this spot! Everything gets a check from me- ambience , service and food ! Lamb burger was 4/5 - had good flavor and was moist and tender, burger bun wasn't dry, salad was okay. Cajun shrimp and grits 4/5, shrimp nicely charred and not overcooked, but a little too strong of a bell pepper flavor but still nicely balanced. Came here for brunch with my family to celebrate my grandparents birthday! Enjoyed our brunch and my omelette was delicious. The potatoes were incredible you need to order them. The restaurant was a little loud, it was busy so probably not a ton they could have done but my grandparents are 82 and they had a hard time hearing. I've been to several Eggspectations across America and Canada and was excited to see that Charlotte had one and directly in my neck of the woods. Went for Sunday Brunch and it was good but not great. I don't feel compelled to rush back to this restaurant for another but in time I think I'll revisit it again and hopefully leave with a willingness to return. I tried both the Smoked Salmon Crostinis and the Smoked Salmon Benedict. The crostinis seemed lightly toasted vs grilled so it lacked the desired crunch I've come to expect with this starter. The creme cheese for a few of the crostinis was slopped heavy handily on them and the red onion and capers weren't pickled or sautéd at all. Raw onions, that's different and no lemon wedge to add some acidity to cut through the fattiness of the creme cheese. Seemed very rushed in its preparation. Not a fan. I've had better from other French inspired restaurants here in Charlotte. The Salmon Benedict was close to perfection. My poached eggs were slightly over how I've typically gotten them, but that's minute in the overall taste of the dish. Definitely five stars regardless. Sunday rush usually dies down between 1-2pm so to avoid 45mins wait time and slower service consider going at that time. Take advantage of sitting outside once all this pollen is done with. We finally got to try this restaurant because they've added a waitlist. We go out for brunch pretty much every Sunday so this place with such a big and varied menu was one we wanted to try. I have to eat gluten free and was hoping they'd have some options. The only gf items are pancakes and gf bread. The server was aware that the lyonnaise potatoes are cooked in the same fryer as all the other fried items so I was able to avoid that. The portions are very generous, and everything we had was good. I had the scrambled egg breakfast with fruit subbed for the potatoes. It came with several slices of ham, three or four pieces of bacon and two sausage links! No gf toast though. So instead eventually they brought a gf roll, that was barely toasted and with no butter or jelly. The eggs and breakfast meats were good. My husband had the chicken and waffles - enormous amount of chicken so we took a quarter of it home. Our son had the chicken schnitzel which was nicely prepared and plated. The menu has a lot of variety but not really enough gf options so I probably won't go back but it was worth a try. read more

Nice ambiance, great food selections, and excellent service! I visited this restaurant solo and the host still seated me at a very spacious table which I ended up needing with the amount of items I ordered lol. I ordered an omelette, a side of potatoes, creamy grits, a pancake and a slice of French toast. I throughly enjoyed everything besides the pancake. It was cooked perfectly just not a taste I'm accustomed to. My server helped me decide on one of their specialty coffee drinks and it was delicious. "Elevated Breakfast". That's the theme and I would say they do a pretty good job of providing this. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The food was very very good and the atmosphere feels upscale without being pretentious. My only real gripe about this place is the speed of service. It took FOREVER to get my food. I had the Shrimp and Crab Omelette which was absolutely amazing! I subb d out the "mixed green" side for cheesey grits and that was the right choice for sure. I also had a couple of cocktails that were....well....they were okay. There didn't seem to be an actual bartender working and my server and another server were the ones that made both drinks. Not bad, by any means, but not quite what I think the drinks are supposed to be. It took a very long time for my food to come out and even longer to get the check once I was finished. If they just tighten up the attentiveness of the staff I think it would be worth the slightly high price. I ordered my eggs scrambled well. It was DELICIOUS! I love how the potatoes are crisp and not soggy. It's a great portion size and I was able to have two servings. Located in The Bowl at Ballantyne this is a pretty busy area so parking can be difficult depending on the time and day. The inside of the restaurant is a pretty big spot with a bar with televisions. We stayed at the AC Hotel right near, so we came here for both dinner and breakfast. We sat at the bar both times and the service was great from the bartender Tim. Brunch was our favorite meal. Although I haven't made it here for dinner/drinks yet, this is a solid lunchtime spot. I usually get the kids meal and not only id the price right, but you get a nice sized portion. This is a relatively new restaurant in the Ballantyne community. There's plenty of parking in the shared parking lot where the restaurant is located. They have a full bar. Came here a few times to try brunch versus dinner on different days. It didn't seem to be too crowded. They need a really good bartender. Both times my server made the drinks and they weren't good. They NEED a good bartender that can be icing on the cake as the location is ideal and this is probably why many people aren't even coming. The food was decent but not great. Nothing was recommended by the server both times I came. The prices that are noted online do not match. What's on the menu in the restaurant. The restaurant is very large. They have a full bar, which we have not used, and it seems odd to have a bar with a 9pm closing time. I especially like their Cajun Shrimp and Grits ($21) and wife loves their pizzas. Breakfasts are varied and good. Beware or 86 the Layonnaise potatoes, that come standard with a number of dishes. They are thick slices of potato, fried lightly so as to be oily and blah. We are visiting Charlotte and attended a concert last night at the Amp Ballentyne. This morning on the way home, we stopped at Eggspectation and we're so glad that we did. The place was busy but we didn't have a crazy wait (just 20 minutes). The restaurant had a comfy-chic vibe and the booth's were spacious and welcoming. The food is French-bistro inspired and delicious. I had the Duck Benedict, and having the duck confit, poached eggs and hollandaise (sooo good) on a croissant was fabulous. The lyonnaise potatoes were crispy and the salad was nicely dressed. My husband had the Breakfast Poutine, with chorizo, cheese curds and gravy over lyonnaise potatoes with a fried egg on top. I almost got that and I'm glad that he did so that I could try it. Yum!! We also got a warm croissant to share. It did not need butter - flaky perfection. Kaitlyn was our server and she was attentive, funny and kind. We are planning on coming back to the Amp for more concerts, so we'll definitely be back to Eggception! read more

If you know what flambéing is then don't get their so called flambéing French toast! The bartender has wonderful customer service but she really doesn't know the food. I told her that the fruit is soggy and this isn't flambéing. She said they put the sauce on it! flambéing is a cooking technique that infuses the food with amazing flavors. At know point was there any of the flavor or was the cooking technique done to any of my food. Take flambéing off the menu! Your charging for a dish you're not providing but adding the fancy name without executing the proper cooking technique to make it flambéing. Y'all! We were out for our weekly brunch tour and Eggspectation was next on the list. I had a little free time before our scheduled 12:30pm meet up and decided to surf the online menu. All of the dishes looked and descripted so beautifully and the menu was so large, I just couldn't decide. So I took a bunch of screen shots and would make up my mind while in the car (my guy driving). We get there and get 12 seated, all together by this forceful mother-type waitress, Diane. She got us waters, took our appy and drink orders. While we were deciding on meal orders, with several mind changes, the beautiful Gooey Goose Bread comes out. It looks and smells amazing! The salted-caramel maple syrup sauce only proves what we're thinking, it is delicious! Diane comes back to take meal orders. She's funny, to the point and no nonsense when asked for suggestions. She knows her menu. I even started calling her "mom." She's no June Cleaver, but makes you feel just as good as June did the Beav. The food: The beautifully presented dishes start arriving and we are all in awe. A few start digging in immediately and I am tempted, but wait for all to be served. My guy got the Western Omelet with potatoes. I got the Santorini Salad and Avocado Toast Benedict. There were several other lovely dishes around the table and I could not stop taking pictures. Everyone around the table was satisfied and unanimous vote for this location is to "Remain on Rotation!" The service: Diane was the best! We have been to restaurants where we have watched 3 people struggle to serve a group our size and clearing up checks at the end was nightmarish. She did it alone and with ease, while keeping us entertained. I even believe we softened her up a bit. I honestly hated leaving her there, but wanted to take her home and have her run my entire household. This was a great outing and everyone was happy at the end.
