i don't think there could be a better breakfast in the world. Service was great too. This would literally be my death row meal. Well done Tryon House. Well done.

Fried porkchops tender and tasty!

Came here for breakfast, the food was excellent! The service here was also exceptional. I'm like other reviewers though, and feel that the place could be a bit updated. I took off a star because there is a slight musty, carpet smell. Started to leave, but glad I didn't. The food more than made up for it! The fried porkshops were excellent and so were the biscuits. Cornbeef hash, eggs, grits...ALL DELICIOUS!!

Affordable, welcoming, & great breakfast/lunch spot! The service was quick and I was greeted with a smile upon entering. This is a family owned restaurant. It's very spacious with lots of windows and seating areas.

My first meal here. It's an old establishment. The decor is kinda like visiting your Grandma's house, something to see everywhere lol. I placed an take out order. Everyone was nice. The food was good and the wait was short.

Simple no frills, cheap and tasty food establishment that serves breakfast all day. I don't know her name, but always the same waitress when I go in and she is just the sweetest. She always remembers me and my dad and if I go without him she always asks abt him. She is an amazing waitress, take one sip of your drink and best believe she's coming to refill that one sip hahaha, never misses a beat. Food is always amazing as well.

We were sat quickly, place was quiet. Unfortunately there was no server or notification of a server for 16 minutes to make our drink order. When a server finally came, he was respectful, officiant and very thorough in his order taking. Although all the problems...whenever we did come it was good, so all in all know if you bypass all the issues from the beginning I guess you can say it's worth it. As you can see from the photos it wasn't very busy so maybe I'll give it another try. And the price was reasonable.

Angelo, I only got 2 sides as you can see .There was no extra side in separate container as you apparently were told. Ask the owner how many times I have ordered in the last 3 years did I ever get an extra side. He will remember me I am sure , so try again as you have been lied to. If what you claim is true why did the lady say it was for extra cranberry sauce?

Food is normally 9 out of 10 the service is always 10 out of 10 and this is one of the regular spots that we go to and the price is very affordable I'm never disappointed. The place could use some upgrades as well as the restrooms, but that can be ignored because the food makes up for it.

Past by this place a few times but being that I am a breakfast lover I had to try it out. Did not disappoint! It's quiet, clean and doesn't seem to be over packed. Ordered the French toast special with scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries. My friend ordered a custom omelette with grits and chocolate chip pancakes. Pancakes are a great size to just be only 2, and the bacon is hands down at the top of my list for best bacon in Charlotte. I'm from a small country town so this meal felt so much like home. We will for sure be back to try out their lunch menu

A very surprising find. Looks to be a family operation. Our waitress Lacy, was awesome, busy and moving fast. The check was 1970's green pad with illegible writing but she was great. Fairly priced, nice portion size. The wife had grits, regular not Al dente, I had the country breakfast which was two sausage patties (processed but really good) a biscuit (not so big) and two eggs smothered in gravy and I do mean smothered. Nothing fancy but a good meal at a good price with great service.

This is legit one of the oldest restaurants in Charlotte. They only open from 6am-2pm, it's not fancy at all but man is the breakfast amazing after a long night out! Some of the best biscuits I've had in a while! Love going here with my friends to refuel after hanging out way too late in our old age . Definitely a hole in the wall, but I'd go here any day. There's never a crowd or a wait.

I found this place on Yelp when I was looking for a different breakfast spot to hit and I must say I was impressed. Once I was seated and placed my order my meal came out within minutes. I never expected that with the amount of people that were in the restaurant, I only visited this restaurant once so far I will keep u posted on my next visit if this is the norm. I had the pancakes with pecans eggs and bacon. Everything was fantastic.

Was driving around for an hour looking for breakfast food and everything was packed. Found this on yelp and I must say it was great. We ordered our food and it came out within minutes. It was clean and quaint. I would definitely suggest coming here and the prices are just right.

I know I made it look very pretty in my photos, but don't be fooled. Here is the complete review. We found the green tomatoes bland and appeared to have been frozen before being prepared. The "Gravy Train" with the mini biscuit was inedible. The gravy itself was OK. Nothing special, not one of the three were "great." But the mini biscuits were terrible, hard, dense chunks of dough. I ate one of them and discarded the rest. The "Chicken Ditch the Waffle" was equally terrible. Whatever they did to turn the biscuit into "fake" French toast is a 100% fail. They were as dense and unappealing as the mini biscuits. The chicken itself was fine. If I was only rating the chicken I'd probably give it a 3.5. The best dish was actually the "GOAT." It was served with a Standard biscuit which we thought was still too dense and dry. I recommend finding an independent restaurant that serves real, "from scratch" food. I should point out that the service crew in the dining room who delivered the food as well as provided cleanup and assistance, were exceptional. They were friendly, courteous, and focused on customer service. I'm sure they deserve more than they are being paid. It was obvious many of them were spanish-speaking immigrants. Not everyone in the restaurant treated them with the respect and gratitude they deserve. Here's the detail of our order from their menu. GRAVY TRAIN mini biscuits with samples of our gravies: sausage, mushroom, and smoked gouda mornay 9.25 FRIED GREEN TOMATOES O hand-breaded and served with ranch or pimento cheese (+1) 8.5 CHICK 'N DITCH THE WAFFLE we've ditched the waffle and replaced it with our biscuit-style french toast with a buttermilk fried chicken breast and Mike's Hot Honey 13.25 THE G.O.A.T. buttermilk fried chicken breast, sweet pepper jelly, goat cheese 12.25 DARK & SPICY BLOODY MARY poblano-tomato mix, vodka, garnish 11.25 (Overpriced and underwhelming)

They even have a "Dietary Preference" menu (look for it online), with keto, gluten-free, and vegetarian options. Some servers aren't aware of this menu, but they will see it in their Toast device if they look for it. We have landed on a couple of favorite dishes that are repeats for us. I like the Spanish Omelet keto-style. Instead of a biscuit and grits, you get a half of an avocado (sliced) and a roasted tomato. The omelet is always full of flavor, and I love it. My husband's favorite is their White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancakes, with bacon ($2 extra). Don't let the name deter you--these pancakes aren't too thick. They are slightly chewy, and the white chocolate whiskey sauce is amazing. He rarely uses the syrup! Ruby's coffee is always good and strong, and their service is great, no matter who you get. I'm already thinking of when we will return next!

The service is always fast and friendly, and of course, the food is good! I started with the fried green tomatoes, and they were easily the highlight of the meal. They were fried so well and topped with bacon, tomato, lettuce, and a tasty remoulade. I'm still thinking about them honestly! For my entrée, I ordered the 3 Little Pigs Omelet. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming. It was smaller than I expected and didn't really resemble an omelet. It was a little messy and slightly runny for my taste. On the side, I added a single pancake and a bowl of grits, both of which were delicious though. I had a good experience and will definitely be back. I just wish the omelet had been prepared a little better.
