Great open fresh farm to table breakfast and brunch location. Friendly host to wait staff that were super knowledgeable and patient in menu review and ordering process. Specialty menu and extensive Standard menu availabile to order from the simple to super fancy flavor combinations. This first visit we tried the Million Dollar Bacon as an appetizer to start, followed by the Parmasean Prosciutto Toast and Honey Caramel Crunch ice coffee from special menu, along with the Biscuits with Turkey Sausage and gravey, with eggs and potatoes. All came out quickly and plated to definitely eat with your eyes first. This is definitely a location to go back to over and over again to really try more of their menus. Would highly recommend, even to a picky eater, as there's something for everyone.

Potatoes were a bit on the salty side.

I enjoyed this location. I like how each location operates the same as in menu, decor, food, service and hospitality. Our server Joey was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant wasn't crowded and had a few parking spaces available which was appreciated since it sits in a building with other businesses. I'll definitely return.

Wasn't exactly satisfied with my breakfast, and I must say....this is a first for me at any First Watch location. I don't how you mess up bacon in a restaurant that primarily sells breakfast food. But anyways...

My order was an avocado toast and lg juice. Forgot a pic but I was so mad I didn't remember to take one. The avocado was brown. The order was for carry out so didn't get to speak to anyone about it. If I could give a negative star I would! VERY DISAPPOINTED

One of the staple brunch places in our area. Always a bit busy come Sunday or Saturday before noon regardless of the location I have been to. Great service from staff at all locations so fat which is a plus! The food here for me is a bit average, falling on comfort and familiar favorites rather than anything adventourous or instagramamble (is that a word ha) but honestly that's okay and that's what you want going to brunch to catch up with friends or family before the adventure this place is perfect for that. Ambiance is also toned down but clean and inviting with various seating options for couples to larger parties.

9/12 Started off my birthday with Brunch! This is my favorite First Watch location. There was no wait and our server was friendly and attentive. I was able to sample the pomegranate pear punch to know I definitely wanted to try the new pomegranate sunrise cocktail. I always get the trifecta but went with the pumpkin pancake instead of my usual chocolate chip pancake. I still substitutes potatoes for my eggs and everything was delicious. Hubby ordered the Trifecta as well with a pumpkin pancake. He we was excited to try the Honey Carmel Crunch Iced Coffee. He thought it wasn't caffeinated enough but it was a delicious sweet treat. The only negative is that the toffee pieces get stuck in the straw if you mix the drink. Great way to start my day!

Wonderful place for breakfast/brunch and meetup with friends. First Watch is a chain with a few locations around RTP. The food is fresh, decor is mix of farmhouse and modern, and the service kind and prompt. I would like to visit again! The space: I had brunch with a friend on a weekday. Restaurant was not busy, and were seated right away. This space is on the large side with some outside seating options as well. Plenty of parking within this complex of restaurants. The food: We started with a roast coffee for the table -- simple and hit the spot. I had the Parma hash: "two cage-free eggs any style atop fresh, seasoned potatoes, Italian sausage, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions and tomatoes with melted Parmesan, Mozzarella and fresh herbs. Served with our whole grain artisan toast." I chose poached eggs, which were cooked nicely. The highlights for me were the sausage, veggies, runny eggs, and toast. The bread was fresh, toasted well, and lightly buttered. One downside is that some of the potatoes were slightly hard on the inside. Slightly inconsistent. The menu is EXTENSIVE, including waffles, pancakes, sandwiches, soups, salads, omelets, egg Benedict, and more. So I hope to come again to try other items. The service: Very prompt and courteous. Interesting combo of order at the table then pay at the counter before heading out.

My niece has to visits Duke Eye Medical frequently for checkups so we stopped in for a quick brunch between her appointments! First watch is always a go to for us because the food never disappoints! This was the first time I got the tacos and they were delicious. The potatoes are my favorite no matter the location! Place was super clean and the server was great!! He was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of!

Had to stop by my attorney's office to sign some paperwork and upon leaving, I realized First Watch was literally attached to the building. Since I was hungry, why not try it out. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and seated. A waitress came over and asked if we had ever seen eaten there before and gave us the rundown on the menu. I got one of the egg options with avocado and bacon, then added a pancake and French toast as sides so I could try it. They had this awesome blueberry marinade that was almost better than the syrup but I had to have my syrup too, lol. Glad I stopped to finally check them out and would definitely return again in the future.

    chickiconga and potatoes

The chickichonga was a 4/5, i think the only thing id do differently is get it without the hollandaise sauce and i wish the wrap was a tortilla instead of an egg. The chorizo is the best part! The Breakfast tacos are also a 4/5! Just a very messy meal The hash potato's were mid 2/5, not a lot of seasoning

The inside was immaculate and beckoning, with a two-sided display of the offerings and a shining espresso machine behind the register. The workers bore welcoming smiles and a a polite, inviting nature. All of that is the reason I give this patisserie three stars instead of two. While some foods are still a mystery to me - barbecue I can just take or leave, mostly leave - I know coffee and I know baked goods. The croissant I sampled was dry, implying unkindly that the flaky pastry dough was either formerly frozen or not fresh, and while croissants aren't exactly the moistest pastry to be found, the idea behind making them is kneading and rolling in a lot of butter, which I truly could not taste. What a disappointment. And somehow, somehow, my latte, albeit freshly prepared before me, was lukewarm when I took my first sip on the way to the car. How is that even possible? At the last minute, I asked for caramel to be added to my drink, but that was imperceptible too. I'd forgotten to ask for it to be half sweet, so I guess that was a blessing in disguise. When you stop by a bakery late in the day you sort of pays your money and takes your chances, but I visited just before noon. No crowds either. Disappointing all around, though again, the ambiance invites lingering. Cute bistro, lovely people, but - and I cannot believe I'm saying this - I'd have done better at the nearby Starbucks if all I wanted to do was get a latte and pastry. As the French would say, domage.

I remember the Jacksonville, Florida location, called Bazille, being full service when I ate there a few years back. It looks like both places have the same menus. We got some complimentary warm rolls with butter to start. The rolls were nothing special, but I always like melting butter on warm bread. I got the skirt steak, $27.50. I really liked it and the excellent roasted potatoes with it, and there was decent asparagus with it too. My wife got the chicken lemon pesto gnocci, $18.75. It was better than expected, but far more than she could eat, so we took most of it out. For dessert, we had the bread pudding, $9.25. It was nice, but I didn't like it as much as the favorite one I had in Bazille years ago. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Their last order is at 7 PM, and it was getting close to then. As a San Francisco Bay Area foodie who recently relocated to Charlotte, I keep a running list of…read morebakeries to explore--especially anywhere that might carry a proper kouign-amann (that glorious Breton pastry that is basically my kryptonite). That search led me to Vicente in South End, and I'm happy to say it absolutely earned its spot on my list. The kouign-amann here was slightly lighter and a bit less dense and buttery than the ones I remember from the Bay Area, but it still hit all the right notes--caramelized edges, flaky layers, and just enough indulgence to satisfy the craving. When you find one in Charlotte, you take note. I also ordered a frangipane (marzipan) croissant, which is always one of my go-to pastries when it's done well. This one delivered--rich, nutty, and comforting without being overly sweet. I'm not much of a chocolate pastry person, so I tend to gravitate toward custard- or almond-filled items, and this bakery clearly understands how to execute those classics. The space itself is beautiful--clean glass storefront, modern aesthetic, and a welcoming feel from the moment you walk in. It's attached to a large apartment complex with underground parking, which makes it surprisingly easy to access. Very walkable, very convenient, and refreshingly low-stress compared to some of the trendier spots. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices felt reasonable for the quality. One small wish: I'd love to see a late-day pastry special or a loyalty program. I'm the kind of regular who will absolutely show up more often if there's an incentive--and let's be honest, pastries are hard to resist when there's a little nudge. I'll definitely be back, especially if they start experimenting with more creative flavors. A kouign-amann with poached fruit--nectarine, mango, or passionfruit--would have me running back through the door. And candidly, I'm grateful Charlotte's pastry scene is still growing. It means there's room for bakeries like this to shine and keep raising the bar. As someone who loves good food, I'm always rooting for local bakers and artisans to succeed. Bottom line: A beautiful neighborhood bakery with solid execution, friendly service, and a kouign-amann worth the trip. I'll be back--and I'm keeping an eye on that pastry case.

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.
