My most favorite part about this first visit is the service, my waitress was friendly and very attentive. I've been here for brunch on a weekend and it was super busy, Had to wait for 15 mins maybe but it wasn't that bad. The food is trash, you might as well go to iHop lol ..they'll have you waiting long for mediocre food. They're also a bit cautious when it comes to certain people. Walk ins were a little hectic but they made it so much easier by giving you a buzzer that lets you know when your table is ready. There's a parking lot behind the building, and an outdoor patio area so you can wait in your car or outside! Arrived at the Irving Park Eggsperience this morning. The server to us to a booth and it was very uncomfortable. They seated a family behind us with two children. It was so uncomfortable. We had our breakfast and the people seated behind kept shaking the booth with his child. They were drinking mimosas while the kids were wandering around. We ordered some food to go they didn't even complete the sandwich with the correct items. We waited for the food and it was incomplete. I'm actually amazed that this place has such high ratings. It's a nice new restaurant, staff was always pleasant but it definitely has that franchise feel to it. The menu may offer some things that you might not see at a regular diner like avocado toast, but all the food I've eaten here has been sub par at best. They have drinks which is nice but I just felt like everything was overpriced and just truly not worth the money. I flew in from Colorado to visit family & thought this would be a great place to meet up/have brunch. Nobody greeted us so after waiting 15 mins.. I went to ask if we were forgotten. When the waitress finally came she was giving us attitude, as if we weren't just waiting for her. I said I'd like a veggie skillet in which she rudely interrupted & said "you mean the veggie omelette" and I said "no, pointed to the menu.. the veggie skillet please". When the food came.. the only silverware we had on the table were butter knifes.. I got up to ask if we can get silverware the staff insisted I sit down & they'll bring it. Ok fine but I'm tired of waiting around, nobody coming up to the table & now I don't want my food to get cold. The server asked if everything is okay when we were almost done with our food, Yepp. It's funny to watch such terrible service when I used to be a server/bartender for 10 yrs. I understand perhaps having a bad day & maybe dealt with some not so nice customers earlier in the day but that comes with the territory and not taking it out onto the next person.. especially when my family & I were being nothing but polite (again I've been in the industry) & I still tipped 20% for such shit service. Im confused why it wasn't that busy, had so much staff & yet the service was some of the worst I've ever received enough to write this review. We felt unwelcome, forgotten and the waitress was rude. The food was good, nothing worth receiving this type of service for. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody, I was looking to have a nice brunch & instead left feeling bad that I picked this place for my family to meet up at. First reason I am writing this review is that the Tres Leches French Toast was maybe the WORST thing I have ever eaten. The white paste that was supposed to be a sauce was really gross, tasted of nothing and added a consistency like wallpaper paste had been poured onto the bread. The French toast was not soaked at all in the custard mixture, it was dry and also tasteless. The bananas were green, not sweet and so underripe that they changed the texture of my tongue as I ate it. The strawberries were just strawberry shaped, also underripe, crunchy and tasteless.One small redemption was that the blueberries were sweet and plump. Do not buy this , a waste of $15 and beyond disappointing. It is only because we had it as take out that I did not return it. The biscuits and gravy was good, not spectacular but tasty. Most likely I will not order or eat at this restaurant again. read more
