I ordered 2 cheese omelettes from North Side Grill at 4351 N. Elston Ave. Chicago IL 60641 on 4-11-2026 and I was surprising disappointed. I've had their food before and it was fine but not this time! I asked for one of the omelettes to have extra onions. The omelettes don't normally come with onions. When I received the order there wasn't any markings on the containers to tell them apart. Also there was barely any cheese in the omelettes. When I called about the order the manager on duty said they put onions on both of them although the other person didn't want onions! I tried to tell her the order was wrong and I had entered the instructions in the order box. She told me that since I had ordered through Grub Hub with Amazon Prime there was nothing she could do for me and if I had a problem then I should call GrubHub because she couldn't see my instructions. LIAR! GRUBHUB DIDN'T COOK MY FOOD!!! I will not order from them again and absolutely do not recommend them at all. Thank you. read more

Short order brekkie? I am there! Located of the corner of Pulaski and Elston in Albany Park. This place is a gem. Counter side seating, and can fit 30 people in there. Fresh made to order food of good quality. Orange juices are fresh squeezed and smoothies are so good, I highly recommend getting that. I custom make a breakfast sandwich with steak and eggs on French bread. Prices are a little high but I understand the food costs have gone up plus as I stated, their food quality is good, so I'm happy to pay the extra couple bucks. Still affordable though. The chilaquiles with green sauce is AWESOME here. I mostly get their Mexican breakfasts, delicious! Only thing would be that the omelettes tend to be a little dry. But everything else, including carne asada is yummy. And their pancakes are simple and delicious. As are their smoothies. Oh and their biscuits and gravy, very tasty. Yes so my wife and I went here to have breakfast for the first time. Never again. So we can't eat pork, I didn't know that the skillet had pork in it. So I kindly asked for one without pork. The response I got was extremely disrespectful. Their attitudes completely changed. So I was disappointed at the fact they responded in not the best manner. My wife told me to write $0 Tip which I did. The waiter was completely disrespectful she went off as soon as we said we aren't tipping on the tab. This was our first Time here and yes because of religious purposes we couldn't eat the pork. This went to a whole new level. The way she approached my wife was unacceptable. It's nothing out of the park but if you want a hearty tasty breakfast served hot and fresh this place is for you. There's a little seating and I feel like it forces the customer to come in smaller parties. You're going to see that the people that come here to eat are usually coming alone or during their break at work. I also like to mention that this grill has a Mexican twist to some of their menu options. I haven't tried any of them yet but I am interested! Quick, consistent, and clean. This used to be a Northside staple for cheap greasy food 24/7, over the years it went way downhill to the point that the food wasn't even worth the cheap price. New owners came in and made this place clean and comfortable to eat in. There are new additions to the menu, real booths!, and no more strung out servers who stumble down the stairs from their flophouse apartments upstairs. I can now bring my kids here for breakfast. This is an improvement to the neighborhood. My 4 stars is upgraded to a 5 due to the hard work these new owners put in to this diner. read more

I always go in the mornings for the omelettes. The food portion is huge and reasonable prices but the best part is the warm service of the waitress! They are always checking on you if you need more coffee or water or anything else. The other part that I like is that I can see my food being cooked right in front of me. That cook is super fast and you get your order in 10 min or less. I have been in many dinners across the US since I travel a lot for work and this one has the best service ever!! This used to be the Two Way Grill...which was great. Since then new owners came in and started the North Side Grill. The food isn't the same and the prices have gone up. They seem like nice people, and you can get your "greasy spoon" favorites....but not worth the cost. I got a cup of soup , coffee, and standard egg breakfast plate and it cost me over $14 before tip...not sure if I was accidentally overcharged. Too many other options to go back. read more

I got a pretty standard skillet with sausage, bacon, and ham which was great for the $8 I spent on it, but it did have a piece of gristle in it for which I am removing a star. This small little place has been my go-to for breakfast. Their prices are great for the food that they serve. My only criticism is that their menu has to be updated. For example lots of times I will ask for something , but the price is different from menu or it was placed under the wrong part of the menu. Staff there is friendly. the service is very nice. but i am extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. this used to be the two-way grill that had THE best diner breakfast in chicago especially the biscuits and gravy. the food is nowhere near as great as the two way grill. the biscuit sand gravy is not two way's recipe. it tastes terrible. the biscuits are dry and the gravy is bland and they use chicken gravy and you can taste it all the way through. i got the chilaquiles (to go) for my husband and he hated it. he said nothing tasted fresh. i cannot come back to this place until the real two way comes back and only then the stars will return. read more

Just what I dream about when I think old-school grill. This place is spotless which is what drew me in. Cleanliness is next to godliness especially when it comes to food. I had a pattie melt that was delicious. It came with homemade chicken soup!! Bonus! I had fries and onion rings. Don't judge me. The onion rings were 5 star rated in my book.
