Country fried chicken w/mashed potatoes. No eggs.

While I normally love this spot, it's gotten a lil old in my book. Every time I come, I order the same thing. Somehow the last three or four times the waitress has told me they don't make what I order. Today my husband comes home with my fave meal and it was salty. I'm a diabetic and the chicken was not edible unless I would have liked a visit to the hospital. You'd think with all the elderly that frequent the space, they wouldn't be so heavy handed with salt. It was disgusting. Time to look for a new spot.

Excellent service, good coffee and a really large veggie omelette with Greek toast. Perfect for a cold January morning. Like the old photos on the walls! Cool to see places I know how they looked in the '20s and '30s!

Dappers East reminds me of a suburban restaurant located in the city. The restaurant was following the Covid guidelines with the spacing of the tables, patrons and employees wearing masks. The menu had plenty of entrees to choose from ..... breakfast to lunch to dinner. Of course, don't over look the daily specials. The prices seemed to be very reasonable. The server was very friendly and outgoing. I had met some friends for a later lunch and I finally decided to try the Perch Luncheon special which included a soup or salad, I opted to have the Lemon Rice soup. I forgot what my friends had ordered. Few minutes later, our salads and soup was delivered. We were happy with that portion. The soup was thick just the way I like it. Very favorable. Few minutes after our plates were picked up, the main entrees were dropped off. The server followed up with us, again. I wish I had remembered her name. The perch was very meaty and delicious. Actually, all three of us were very happy with our meals. I would recommend this restaurant.

I love dappers! This is my favorite Sunday spot for an early dinner & sometimes we go for breakfast or lunch. There is a nostalgic vibe that you just can't find in most places. Today (Labor Day) we went for brunch. My guy had the cajun burger w/trimmings, fries, coleslaw & a bowl of the amazing cream of chicken soup. It's my fave soup & I really wanted it, but I also wanted breakfast. They give crackers & as evening approaches, you get delicious hot bread & whipped butter. I ordered banana pecan crepes & a side of crispy hash browns. I was only able to eat half because they serve generous portions. My guy inhaled his burger before i could get a pic. I am happy to show off my yummy crepes! Our favorite server is Erica. I think she was hostessing today & the lady we had was also great and very attentive to everyone around us. It was quite busy, very clean & great attitudes from each person we encountered. The owner is always gracious & warm. If you want great service, generous portions that provide leftovers and feeling like you had a home cooked meal of comfort food, then please visit Dappers East.

The day started off gloomy and gray, but as the clouds broke and the city transformed into a beautiful spring afternoon, the atmosphere inside Village Tap matched that same energy shift -- warm, lively, and welcoming. What truly makes this place stand out is the staff. Even while absolutely slammed with customers after another raucous Cubs post game crowd rolled through, Meg and Kevin never missed a beat. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and ability to stay accommodating under pressure was genuinely impressive. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and ability to stay accommodating under pressure was genuinely impressive. They made sure everyone felt taken care of, stayed on top of drinks and service, and somehow still kept the experience fun and relaxed despite the chaos around them. Kevin's witty banter and sense of humor add a personality to the bar that you just don't find anywhere around that area. It creates the kind of environment where regulars and first-timers alike instantly feel comfortable. Meanwhile, Meg handles the rush with incredible poise and attention to detail, making sure guests always feel valued and welcomed. Village Tap has always been a great neighborhood spot, but experiences like this are what separate good bars from truly memorable ones. Great drinks, great atmosphere, and even better people behind the bar. Even on one of their busiest, most understaffed days, Meg and Kevin proved exactly why this place continues to be a Roscoe Village favorite. My only gripe is The Golden Tee Cabinet. Whats a guy gotta do to get a recalibration on that system! Mid Range left to right putts always miss on the low side. Not sure what to do, but I will carry on...

The server only took the third person's order and left without asking us if we wanted another round. Our glasses were visibly empty and we weren't even far from the POS. 4.) I tried to get her attention to order more HH drinks but she never looked our way or was no where to be found. Sure enough, she waited til after HH to get back to us. 5.) In the modern world of $20 cocktails, craft double imperial IPA's with names like "a pidgeon's nightmare", sometimes all you want is an affordable ice cold miller light, play some pool, and watch some College football on a massive TV. The clientele clearly come to this traditional watering hole to make new friends, strike up fun conversations, and maybe throw back a few whiskey neats along the way. Don't expect an "instagramable" neon sign to take a picture in front of, but you'll find a no-nonsense bartender who will get you a cold one and listen to your life story. It probably has the same group of regulars here almost daily. They won't turn you away just because you aren't from around here though. Always happy to take your money in return for a drink. It's about $6 for the cheapest stuff. Basically it's just a place to drink. There's some snacks like chips or pretzels. For sure it's not the cleanest but it's not a dump.
