Nice little place. Food is good. Prices are a little high but still fair. Free parking in back is nice so you don't pay the city.

The menu is several pages long and has what you'd expect- sandwiches, salads, breakfast items. I found the menu descriptions were not fully complete with some items coming with toppings that were not listed on the menu. I ordered the deluxe fish sandwich which means it comes with soup of the day. It has booths and tvs and I was the only one who went at 4pm if you want to avoid crowds. read more

Went here for lunch today. The food came out surprisingly fast considering I could only see one person cooking in the kitchen. Service good too considering only one waitress taking care of multiple tables. Only reason they don't get five stars is we asked for fries extra crispy and they were not extra crispy. They do have a pretty large menu. Food was good. read more

Lola's is a diner that took over the Golden nugget. Don't see much change in ambiance, but they have a shorter updated menu. I had a burger that was passible, but not extraordinary. My husband's Reuben was not typical, had to ask for Russian dressing. Service was good and the food came out quickly. I will like go again to try the Tuna menu and the Cuban sandwich. read more

The pepper shaker was dirty, and the water tasted strange, likely from old plastic cups. The food came out lukewarm. The potato was okay, but my daughter's fruit on her pancakes looked old and didn't taste fresh. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we won't be coming back. read more

The place we were going to, Eris, was closed for the day. For an event. Who has the money to buy out all of Eris for a whole day? Someone with too much money but very good taste. And they didn't invite me so I don't like them, whoever they are. We've been going out to dinner with our best friends, Chuck and Sally for four decades. Well I used to go out to eat with Chuck when we were poor graduate students, and a couple of spouses later we were still going out to eat. We've ate at a lot of winners and some losers, but because we make more money now, we haven't been to a disappointing place in a long time. Maybe we were overdue. So Lola's is across from Eris, and we already paid for parking, so overdressed we walked into this newly remodeled diner. Great friendly service, but none of us finished our lunch. Mediocre food. The only thing about this restaurant was the waitress thats it everything else overpriced, and tasted nasty!

Was excited to see a new joint in the old golden nugget space, so our office decided to order some diner fair for lunch. Clean on the inside, but the food was definitely not worth the price. Salad lettuce was wilted and not portioned enough to warrant $13.00, pecan salad has very few nuts, omelette was missing the cheese, chicken on the salad was bland, was not given utensils or butter for the pancakes, which didn't have any flavor and were rubbery and chewy, burger was just average. When the order was placed via the phone they seemed a bit out of sorts, didn't even try to ask for them to repeat it back to ensure it was correct. Was given an unpleasant look, when we left, as she was expecting a tip for the to go order. We will pass on this one for now and unfortunately will not be revisiting unless things change. read more

Tried to go to Lola's Diner this morning. It's says Open at 7am. In spite of a lady being in there it was well after 7 more like 7:30 and they still weren't open. My friend and I left as well as another customer who wanted to have breakfast. Last time I'll try and go there. read more

I used to frequent the old Golden Nugget that blessed this location for eons. Loved it and miss it. Was happy to see the space wasn't just sitting vacant and a new diner popped up. Friend and I dropped in for a late breakfast. Space looks and smells the same, which was reassuring. I had the skirt steak, eggs, hash-browns and French toast. I ordered a side of bacon for more protein. My friend had eggs and pancakes. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly flavorful. My friend wasn't wowed either. The service as well was ok but nothing remarkable. Server could have used a busser, she had a lot going on for just herself. I may or may not go back. Golden Nugget was more enjoyable. Again, it's not bad but Elly's and Cozy Corner are simply better and closer, and the service is a bit more streamlined. Prices are slightly better here though and you get more bang for your buck. In my opinion. Endless options, something for everyone. Give them a try if you're around but no need to jump thru hoops of fire to get here. It's simply just Ok! read more

Treated ourselves after surviving a burst pipe in our basement this lovely Chicago winter. We loved it for classic diner style breakfast. I got the nest and it was the best! Super crunchy edges on their hash browns that can't be beat. Excellent French toast (I ate both triangles without the intention to!) husband enjoyed his veggie skillet more than nearby other skillets- hash browns had crisp edges and weren't just mushy to stand up to all the veggies. Good diner coffee. Excellent attentive friendly service. We will be back! read more

New diner in the area and near work. We headed to Lola's for lunch which was somewhat busy. waitress was nice and friendly. We all ordered our food, yet there was a delay on our soup and salad. Per waitress, she doesn't get along with the cook! which that info was none of our business. Very basic chicken noodle soup and a few minutes after our meals finally came out. I ordered fried chicken wrap with ranch, which they failed to add into the wrap. Nothing too much to say about the wrap asides lack of flavor. Overall service is good. a few things that i hope can change with time. Hopefully the breakfast is better since Id like to try one soon. read more

Former Cozy Corner space. Has good diner selections including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Found the prices to be affordable; a bit less than other places in the area. Small parking lot and street parking on the side. Waitresses were friendly and attentive. Will go back. read more

My veggie skillet was PERFECT! I recently moved closer to Lola's and - with their huge menu - am looking forward to trying more here.

Took my mom to lunch here today have not been here since it was a golden nugget. The inside was remodeled looked very nice new boots and tables. The staff was very pleasant unfortunately that's all I can say about the place. The food was terrible. Mom had the turkey dinner I had meatloaf. The turkey tasted old or freezer burnt the meatloaf taste as if it were baked with a ton of ketchup and nothing else. No stuffing but the turkey was in a bed of white bread. We ate about half of everything as we don't like to wast food but could not finish it because it was so bad. Worst thing my mom got sick by the time I got her home. Also, mom went to the bathroom and she said it looked clean but reeked of urine. I feel bad because they were very nice people but I must be honest. I can tell the owners invested a lot of money in remodeling so they need to now do something about the food quality and bathrooms. read more

The ambiance was nice and the and the service was good, however, the quality of food was sub par for the price. The corn beef hash was simply not good--very dry and a tiny portion. The meat lovers skillet was okay but it was not worth the price. (Egg prices are surging because of demand so that may have an impact on the price of the skillet). I was excited about this location opening up because the golden nugget was terrible. But it's basically golden nugget rebranded as "Lola's diner." The servers were nice but when I ordered my coffee with almond milk (came on the side) I didn't expect it to be so chunky and slimy. When I brought it to the waitresses attention she said she noticed that when she poured it but the carton didn't say expired. And then she went and poured me some from a new bottle it looked like how it should. Idk if they don't know that almond milk expires within 7-14 days of opening the bottle but that was absolutely disgusting and it killed my appetite when u ate there. However there was a supervisor (female) whom scorned an employee for something minimal; she was loud, unprofessional, and humiliated the waitress (too tears) ridiculous. I went to this restaurant with great hopes. I'm new to the area and was looking for a good casual neighborhood place. I went in for breakfast when it first opened and had a pretty good breakfast, went back again a month or so later and had the most awful grilled cheese I have ever had in my life. The cheese was cold and bread wasn't even grilled,I really didn't want to complain since my first encounter was pretty good. I recently thought I'd give it another chance (2 out 3) in hopes maybe my second visit was just a fluke? Well my 3rd and I'll say final visit was even worse! My boyfriend ordered a hot pork tenderloin sandwich which was served without any bread on the bottom and the meat was cold in the middle yuck! I ordered the green chilaquilles with chicken. Chips tasted stale and the chicken was dry, also never got any of the salsa or the sour cream that was said comes with. Ugh this place is a disaster I will not be back! read more
