They have a great white wine that was a late harvest called Marie. Sure wish so could still get some. I believe it was a dessert wine.

We were greeted by friendly staff and a complimentary pour. Prior to visiting Heringer Estates, I noticed they offered a sweet flight which was a huge reason why I wanted to visit; however, it was not on the menu. Luckily for me they were able to accommodate me by making a custom flight. Our flight of tastings consisted of three pours: Moscato, Chardonnay, and a port. We even received a sample of their popular wine slushy. My friend and I both ordered the same tasting and we were very impressed with all of them. She especially liked the moscato, and I especially liked the chardonnay. Although, I really did enjoy all of them. The staff member seemed very knowledgeable and explained each one to us. I can't wait to come back for more! Especially on a warmer day to enjoy a wine slushy. If you enjoy going on walks, they have stairs that lead you to the levee. Their vineyard is only a twenty-minute drive from Sacramento. If you don't like crowds, I recommend going on a week day.

And it is a source of great pride to find our local, Greater Sacramento-Delta Bogle wines when we travel outside of California or USA. In fact, we were thrilled to enjoy a bottle in Shanghai, China! But we had never been to the Bogle Family Ranch and Vineyards outside of Clarksburg, CA. We finally reserved a couple of hours to visit the winery - and can't say enough good things! We enjoyed several, terrific wines not available in our local stores - such as their delicious Sparkling Rose! But more importantly, experienced a lovely afternoon on the BEAUTIFUL Bogle Family Ranch grounds! Everything around us was green and gorgeous; with cool breezes due to the surrounding water of the Sacramento River. The picnic tables were warm and inviting. The snacks were great (we brought a picnic lunch). And EVERY employee with which we spoke was excited to educate and inspire us - taking great pride in Bogle Family's six generations of Delta farming; sincere commitment to sustainability and the community; and vision of how the family plans to continue the winery's growth and international expansion, while maintaining its commitment to winemaking excellence. Every staff member that we met had been Bogle employees for over 10 years at least (a couple over 30!). I think it really says a lot about a company and family when their employees promote and compliment - even when the bosses are not in the room! While we had originally planned just a one-time visit to the Bogle vineyards, we left as Bogle Family Wine Club Members. And look forward to attending many Bogle events (including live music and movie nights), in the upcoming year. Well done and thanks for a great day, Bogle Family!

The wine and property are lovely -- unfortunately the welcome at the door felt like an audition for "Most Judgmental Winery Greeter." When we walked in, the woman at the front greeted us with a slow head-to-toe scan before even saying hello. For context, we weren't exactly stumbling in from a river float -- Patagonia, designer black jeans, nice casual wine-country attire. My partner was dressed similarly. Completely normal for a winery visit. Since it was my first time there, I asked where we should go. She informed us -- while continuing the visual inspection -- that upstairs was reserved for more formally dressed guests with reservations. The upstairs area, by the way, was completely empty. She then told us we could "go help ourselves around the corner." The tone was less "welcome to wine country" and more "you appear to be beneath the staircase." Honestly, I've been to plenty of wineries, from casual tasting rooms to higher-end spots, and I've never been greeted with that level of instant judgment. It was oddly hostile for a place that literally sells a beverage meant for relaxing. The ironic part is that after getting past that moment, the rest of the experience was actually nice. The wine was good, the grounds are pretty, and the other staff we interacted with were perfectly pleasant. But that initial interaction? Brutal. If first impressions matter (and they do in hospitality), someone might want to let the front door know that sizing people up like a nightclub bouncer at 1am isn't exactly the warm, welcoming winery vibe most people are hoping for. Great wine. Beautiful place. One spectacularly toxic greeting.

Tucked away in Clarksburg, this woman-owned winery is charming and intimate. The parking lot is small (around 15 cars), but it's conveniently located right off the main road, so it's easy to find. Wine highlights: * 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (bestseller): rich and layered with ripe strawberry, plum, mocha, and a hint of spice * 2023 Montepulciano (2026 SF Chronicle Gold Winner): light, easy drinking with raspberry, cranberry, and herbal notes * 2023 Durif (my favorite): dark, bold, and complex with blackberry, plum, and a smooth structured finish * 2021 Blanc de Noir sparkling: light, crisp, and bubbly * 2025 Verdejo (new release): fresh, aromatic with peach and citrus Wine flights (any 4) are only $15: great value. They put small stickers to indicate the wine on each tasting glass. Food: Four cheese panini and Reuben panini are solid picks, served with kettle chips or salad. Service: friendly, decent speed Wine club is also very accessible: no membership fee to join, with 3 tiers (4, 6, or 12 bottles), and complimentary tastings for up to 4 guests. Restroom: 2 (two) (all genders): spacious, clean. The atmosphere is what really makes this place stand out: well-manicured grounds with fragrant roses, apricot trees, a charming chicken coop area, and a beautiful open event space with hanging lights. Live music every Saturday and every other Sunday adds to the experience. They also offer private event spaces where you can bring your own food (just purchase their wine), which makes it a great spot for celebrations. Overall, a perfect little weekend escape if you're looking for a relaxed, intimate winery experience. Bonus: they even have a cozy corner dedicated to adoptable cats: each with their own name and personality profile. Currently 3 boys and 1 girl, $150 per cat.

The romantic, garden-esque setting is absolutely stunning and was everything we dreamed of for our wedding. From start to finish, working with the Scribner Bend team was such a breeze and truly made wedding planning fun and stress free. When we first booked, Shaye was the wedding facilitator and she was absolutely fantastic to work with. Later, I got to work with Hillary, their new wedding facilitator and she was just as amazing! So attentive, quick to answer questions and always accommodating of any last-minute requests. They really have such a well-oiled team and their amazing list of preferred vendors made the entire process seamless. We were married on a Friday which meant we had the wonderful bonus of hosting our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at Scribner the night before. It was such a fun, easy experience and set the tone for the big day. Paesanos, their in-house caterer was fantastic (separate review) and they provided us with delicious wood-fired pizzas and two salads for our rehearsal dinner. All of our guests were raving about how good it was!! On our wedding day, we had access to the Bungalow for getting ready and wow!! it is such a beautiful, charming space. My bridesmaids and I loved spending the morning there. It has two make up stations that had great natural lighting and is great for making tiktoks! The guys had the Airstream, which was really unique and fun, though on our 100-degree wedding day it was a bit stuffy since the AC couldn't quite keep up (which is understandable for an Airstream!). Still, it was a cool and memorable space for them to get ready in. I cannot rave about Scribner Bend enough. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff is phenomenal and they truly helped create the most magical and smooth wedding day for us. I'd highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a romantic, beautiful and well-supported place to say I do!!!!

We receive quarterly shipments and visit regularly for tastings or a glass of wine, particularly during the summer and fall. The wine itself is consistently very good, especially the red wines. Their red blends are a real strength--the BDX blend is a great example and one we return to often. We also appreciate the inclusion of less common varietals, such as Teroldego, which has become one of our favorites. Many of the wines lean toward Spanish varietals, which makes sense given the Clarksburg AVA and helps distinguish Silt from more conventional tasting rooms. That said, they also offer a solid lineup of white and sparkling wines. While I'm not typically much of a white-wine drinker, their whites are often floral, complex, and refreshing without being overly sweet. I frequently enjoy them on site--especially during warm weather and when using my complimentary tastings as a wine club member. The sparkling wines are also well done and fit the setting nicely. The tasting experience itself is relaxed and well paced. Like many wineries today, service is brought directly to your table rather than handled at a traditional wine bar, which works especially well here. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly without being intrusive. As regulars, we're often recognized when we arrive--particularly my partner, who is far more outgoing than I am--which adds to the welcoming, community feel. The tasting room is housed in a historic, refurbished barn set among vineyards and adjacent to a slough. One side is framed by large heritage trees, the other by open vineyard views. It's a beautiful setting, though naturally open to the elements. The facilities are thoughtfully designed, with a variety of seating options including high tables, low tables, and couches. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. In warmer months, swamp coolers help keep the barn comfortable, and in cooler weather, heat lamps are available. During summer, mosquitoes can be present given the proximity to the slough, but insect repellent is provided. They regularly host live music events, where wine can be purchased by the glass or bottle, and food trucks are often available. These events feel lively and social without becoming crowded or chaotic. This winery was formerly Wilson Family Winery, which was successful in its own right, and the current iteration has clearly built on that foundation. We've visited many wineries over the years and consider ourselves fairly serious wine enthusiasts, and in our opinion, Silt Wine Company stands out as one of the best wineries in Clarksburg and even beyond the immediate region. It's a genuine gem and one we're always happy to return to.

Shoutout to the West Sacramento/ Clarksburg area…read more... The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg is a historic beet sugar refinery from 1934-1993 that has wine shops and tasting rooms for local wineries. They have over a dozen wineries. Wine tastings average $15 and most wineries waive the fee if you buy a bottle. They have wine shops in the main building and in the other building. Don't forget to walk back and to the right to the shops in the separate back building, there is 3-4 more wineries. Each winery are literal walled shops with their own seating areas. Temperature controlled which is nice on hot summer days. Each have their own wine tasting, food offerings, and special events. Old Sugar Mill is less than 15 minute drive from downtown Sacramento. The buildings are beautiful. They kept the historic brick walls and exterior. It has a modern shabby chic look. Three different brands owned the refinery. It all began in 1934 with Amalgamated, American Crystal Sugar Factory (1936-1982), and Delta Sugar (1983-1993). The sugar was refined by local Northern Californian grown beets. The buildings was renovated in 2000 for its current use. Awesome concept and beautiful architecture design. They also host weddings and events. They have a banquet room with slideshow equipment. There is also an outdoor lawn and adjoining paved patio area that is shaded in the afternoon by the buildings that would make for a gorgeous wedding venue. On hot summer days, the Delta breeze kicks in for instant cool down. No outside food are picnics are allowed. On the weekends, they have food trucks. Plus the majority of the wineries sell food (appetizers) as well. Also no pets are allowed (excluding service animals). The restrooms are located right by the front entrance.

Bathrooms- They have many stalls in the bathroom located to the left of the entrance. Temperature- It's cool inside, a little too cool for us today. It was 63 degrees out today and warm in the sun. I bet in the sweltering heat of our summers this is the perfect place to be. The Sugar Mill is an indoor venue. They have three different building with different wineries at this time. So, there is a little walking outside. Wine Barrels- You can buy half wine barrels for your garden for sale. Seating- They have lots of little seating areas. Inside they have a whole room with seating and nice decor. The tables are draped in white table cloths and there are stacks of wine barrels as the back drop. They have a palm court in the back and it's so quaint and beautiful. Perfect for sipping some wine slowly and chit chatting with friends. If you are looking to sit in the sun there is are a set of tables and chairs out back near the food truck. Ambiance- I love the location and building. It's an old Sugar Mill that produced sugar from sugar beets. That industry has now ended and it's now a place to visit many wineries. It's the only place that I know of that have numerous wineries and offer wine tasing for a minimum fee.
